  • I am a fan of Jinjer, and I really like how they incorporate both singing and screaming into their music. It gives it a lot of dynamics that I enjoy. The lead Singer, Tatiana Shmailyuk, is a super hottie. 10 Points to whoever can tell me what is tattooed on her neck. I teach voice, but there are so many different styles of singing. No one person is an expert on everything; this style is relatively new to me. But just be on the lookout for some covers in this Genre!

      Jesus girl, you're like a little chimpmunk on coffee... so adorable :D
      Also - plese don't call it "screamo". It's a growl. She uses false vocal chords to bring about the splendor and power of our majestic lord Satan.

  • @rjh862

    She's been at it over 10 years...the growls don't use vocal chords that's why she's able to do it. Notice her speaking voice after the song. Still perfect...and altho winded she sang flawless.

    This is the band, not her. Thanks for appreciation anyway.
    On her neck tattoo: I did impulsively. I just adore Mexico and Mexican culture and mythology, so I made it as a Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent, on my throat. So nothing special, just I really wanted it. I was very mesmerized by the idea of this serpent and of this mythological creature, so that’s it.

    Live. I think it can be a great continuation, though any other songs are as good. Just do a seach and pick the most viewed videos.
    Wacken is one of the biggest metal fests in Europe.
    She grabbed her suit because the lyric fits that movement.
    She doesnt use her vocal cords for growls that's why she can switch very quickly.
    Her name is Tatiana, Tetiana, Tati, Tania Shmayluk (Sh-my-lúke).

      @@CharisSellick so is Alissa Gossow, the former singer of Arch Enemy - check out Nemesis live in Tokyo from 2008. That said, Angela being a pioneer of female growling (with demo tapes going back to 1991 so who knows when she started working on the technique) did damage her voice doing it. Still impressive. 30 minute set? Maybe, but I saw them play for an hour and a half no problem. The thing she was "doing with her feet" was her crushing everyone.

    • @RobbHollen
      @RobbHollen 3 года назад +3

      Yeah, when they are headlining they do about a 90 min set, and she sounds great all the way through. Sadly, this set at Wacken was cut short and this song wasn't supposed to be the last. They were the first band on a main stage that day (a BIG deal in its own right, at 11am if I remember correctly), and there were some technical issues so they got a late start and didn't get to complete their set. As you know those big festivals have a very rigid schedule to keep everyone on time. I fully expected Jinjer to have a much later and more prominent slot when they return to Wacken.

    • @lefthook4878
      @lefthook4878 3 года назад +1

      I saw them a couple years ago and they played a 90 minute set. They fukkin CRUSHED! I've yet to hear a band that sounds as good as they do live, and I have been in the mosh pits at metal shows since Slayer released Show No Mercy, have been to hundreds of shows, seen pretty much every thrash, death, and extreme metal band in existence. No one, not Gojira, Maiden, Slayer, Sepultura, Megadeth, Death, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Whitechapel, Exodus, Testament, Annihilator, King Diamond, Fear Factory, Cryptopsy, Nile, Morbid Angel, Behemoth, Meshuggah, Lamb of God, etc etc sounded as good live as Jinjer. That's saying A LOT because some of these bands go out on a limb to have a good live sound. Even Tool, Korn, and Primus don't recreate their studio sound so meticulously on stage the way Jinjer does. I have seen a LOT of bands over the decades, and Jinjer hands down had the best live sound

    This was lots of fun. There is a lot of technical info on what she's (probably) doing in the Pisces reaction by The Fairy Voice Mother - after she spits her tea in surprise haha. Also there are interviews with both Tatiana and with Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox on Loudwire's How I Learned To Scream series.
    Any Jinjer song you haven't checked out yet would be a fun to watch you check out, particularly Who Is Gonna Be The One if you haven't seen it, Sit Stay Roll Over live in Melbourne, Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev, Judgement & Punishment one-take vocal, or their new video Home Back about their hometown getting caught in the war in eastern Ukraine.
    Check out Spiritbox's Blessed Be official, Rule Of Nines one-take, or Holy Roller official (created by them and their friends during lockdown and filmed on a smartphone).
    Lena of Infected Rain has a great voice too - see Orphan Soul or Black Gold as starting points.
    Melissa Bonny of Ad Infinitum with Marching on Versailles and Rage Of Light with Mechanicals is good (she sings lead for both projects).
    Avienne of Vintersea with Illuminated.
    Arch Enemy with Nemesis at Wacken for Alissa doing all growls, or Reason to Believe for a mix of growls and cleans.
    Cheers!

    I love the genre twisting music of this band. Thank you for the great reaction, it's fun hearing a theatre perspective on Tatiana's stage presence and Jinjer's music, subbed!
    Tatiana and the whole band are incredible: Eugene on bass, Vlad on drums and Roman on guitar. They all contribute to composing, but Roman has done a lot of the musical composition and Tatiana writes most of the lyrics (the lyrics are really good, I hope you'll check them out in more Jinjer reactions).
    I love the story of Tatiana getting interested in learning to growl. In her own words, "I was inspired by Otep (Shamaya). When I was 15, my friend showed me a record of House of Secrets. I was like, ‘That dude - his voice is so powerful. And he said, ‘Oh come on Tatiana, that’s actually a woman!’ I was like, ‘What?’ She blew my mind. That was the time, the moment when I realized I wanted to shock people just like her. I just had the feeling or the intuition, like an extra sense that this is what I’m made to do.”
    Check out Pit of Consciousness (live in Kiev/Kyiv) to see another one of their best stage performances (there are sooo many though!), enjoy! ❤🤘

    You ask how she is doing it with the screaming and still having her voice? It is all in the technique which can cost you some years to completely have it in a good way. You push the air up from your belly and use your mouth to shift the noise. You dont even use your vocal chords if you are doing it right. i played in different death metal and black metal bands most of them as a vocalist and after a hour i can still go on without getting to hurt my throat. it is all in the technique

    really enjoying your energy and appreciation for what you are doing your reactions to. cant wait for you to experience more Jinjer and see all the different looks/changes Tatiana has gone through over the years (kind of like a timeline when doing reactions haha) Also a little bit of a heads up....when listening to a metal band that has screaming.....dont call it "screamo"....that is pretty much a slap in the face to metal singers/screamers as screamo is a form of emo music, but on a technical level, metal screamers tend to scream/growl properly as to not damage their vocal cords and such where as hard core and screamo singers just go out it with reckless abandon and you can really tell they are doing harm to their vocal chords lol. But on another note with Jinjer, you should do some research on them to see where they came from and their upbringing and such and you will find a whole new appreciation for them on a deeper level. And the videos of Tatiana goofing around and having fun are priceless. Keep up the great work

    Just a heads up, screamo is a genre of music not a vocal style. What she's doing is generally referred to as vocal fry or growling. Jinjer is definitely not a screamo band. They're metal and the coolest thing about them is they blend genres a lot. I'm sure it's been recommended already but make sure to check out Tatiana's one-take performance of Judgement & Punishment. There's some nice genre blending and as a vocalist I'm sure you'd appreciate the focus on her singing.

    A festival set of this size is usually an hour or an hour 30min, it's incredibly taxing. I once got a feber feeling in my entire body after playing an hour set of extreme metal, just having an adrenaline rush for that long takes the wind out of you.
    Also, projection is quite important in extreme vocals, and stance can help a lot with projection. As a theatre singer you'd probably get that, like opening your chest and relaxing your body helps with a powerful sound.

      Daytime sets are shorter even on main stages on big festivals. If the internet is to be trusted they were the opening act of one of the three main stages, Louder, on Friday and the set was 45 minutes long.
