- This was fun because they had no idea what was coming. I didn't give them any clues to what they were about to experience and it totally paid off. Ultimately I think they really enjoyed Jinjer - Pisces. If you enjoy reactions like this, please subscribe for more in the future.

Dad in the background when she starts screaming it's magic
That would be me!!! LOL
that is actually me when I see everyone's shocked faces in every reaction to this song
thanks. I would have actually missed it, but I went back because of your comment and.. soooo worth it! thx. :-)
it earned a new sub
Not often you can see your son hit puberty live on camera.
Watching people react to this song will never get old.
Like many others this is a song I watch every reaction video of... Jinjer is absolutely amazing!!!!!
No. No it will not
She has one of the most beautiful "clean" voices I've ever heard. And the music in this song is just beautiful as well
"She swallowed the devil" priceless comment, loved it. Cheers
Rogério Barreto awww that was so cute
Yea most comments after the first reactions, I have seen, is Jesus, this one is more accurate.
Walker is one of the most quotable people on YT!
That was dry as hell 😂
Agreed
"I have no idea what's about to happen" = The most perfect foreshadowing.
Perhaps because it's fake.
That moment when you are thinking "This is soo chill".. ME: Muhahaha! Here it comes, the reactor brain melt.
Same thought here :D :D :D
I apparently have a hobby of watching Pisces reactions...and yours is great!
But I'm subscribing because you are having breakfast for dinner.
Our whole family LOL'd at your comment
Precise...
I have 3 major hobbies:
1* Hunting
2* Fishing
3* Seeing Jinjer - Pisces reactions ( Can't help it... It's too much fun) :D :D :D
I'm subscribing because she associates things with colors like I do
Same here can't get enough of them
This is a special singing technique actually quite close to opera singing. Instead of using your vocal chords, you use the false vocal chords. Best thing is to take professional lessons for training this. The golden rule is: If it hurts, you're doing it wrong. But it is actually quite common in metal, but Tatiana can go really low. There are other singers who can do it. Even Floor Jansen from Nightwish.
You are mostly correct but I would add that your aryteniod cartilage also helps make to distort it. Also, with fry screaming the vocal cords do also create a little bit of the distortion. But it is not by phonating it by the vocal cords being close to closed and air passes through the slit making a buzzing/static sound.
Why bother, it’s a fucking hideous, silly row. It’s taking “heavy” music to a logical but not necessarily good extreme.
@@SvenTviking If you don't like it, don't listen to it. It's that simple. There are plenty of folks out there who do like this. I'm 55 and this is awesome. Although Pink Floyd is my favorite band, I've been listening to death metal also for almost 30 years.
mikael åkerfeldt opeth
@@SvenTviking For people who aren't into it, this sort of growling can be very hit-or-miss. I'm more the symphonic metal type and Pisces has never really appealed to me (aside from appreciating the skill required and watching people react to it) but I've listened to The Eagle Flies Alone by Arch Enemy many times.
0:35 Walker was like "I'M THE GREAT CORNHOLIO"
I just realized that Beavis and Butthead were the first on doing this reactions videos stuff almost 30yrs ago :))
Omg..you are so right!!! Beavis and butthead were the first music reaction duo. What an epic observation
Damn, you're right.
The moment you realize you are old: I know what you actually mean by this...😜👍
Oh wow I never thought about that, but it's true...the great cornholio and butthead were doing reaction videos back then!..LMAO😅🙃🤣
LOL LOL LOL
"It's like she was a Zombie but only 90% turned." had me laughing!, Cheers and you should try I Speak Astronomy next.
Next show them some live songs:
JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019)
JINJER - Who Is Gonna Be The One (Live)
JINJER - Pit of Consciousness (Live in Kiev)
It's a Quetzalcouatl, not a dragon... A mayan God depicted as a winged serpent.
I vote for Who is gonna be the one, that one's the best.
Shout out to Dads camio in thew window? Top Choice. My new favourite group. Try Alien Weaponry. Several of their songs are written in the Māori language.
For sure alien weaponry is a nice band for these two who can't love a language you don't get at all 🤣 also alestorm is nice but might be a bit to adult topics or baby metal 😉
He has great taste

>me in the window making my kids listen to metal 10 years from now
Yes!!!
7:49 - The vocal style that Walker referred to as Tatiana’s “devil voice” is commonly referred to as “growls” among metalheads. And the opposite of growls-what you called her normal voice-are often referred to as “clean” vocals. (Not that you should’ve known that, but I just thought that I’d put that out there.)
And as it would happen, nearly anyone can produce growls with the right training. If you might be curious, I can strongly vouch for the video from VoiceHacks called “Distorted Vocals Defined: Different Types of Screams Explained” ruclips.net/video/GBrGvh4LjMs/видео.html where the channel’s host, Mary Z, goes over various techniques that people of any gender can use to get vocals along those lines. And when the right techniques are used, singers can use of those types of vocals without doing any damage to their voice.
If you might like to listen to more Jinjer, I think you’d really enjoy “Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019)” ruclips.net/video/bxi3i9wzQBk/видео.html and “Teacher, Teacher” ruclips.net/video/oRkRwL0vjOg/видео.html -and that’s just to name two among many others!
And just as a preemptive heads-up: If you might like to pronounce “Wacken” like the locals, one would say “Vah-ken.” (In German, “W” is pronounced like a “V” is in English.) I’m only mentioning that part just since most folks seem to stumble over that one a bit.
Great comment. Thanks!
3 Years Apart Right on-keep it up!
@@handcoding - Thanks for the link, Ashley. Since Mary Z removed the video explaining Tatiana's screams that I've been trying to find her video that explains the screaming techniques correctly, to put to rest some misconceptions that are going around in the comments' sections of some Jinjer videos. ; )
Many cannot believe Tatiana is actually singing the growls until they watch perennial live.
Tatiana had zero training. She just did it.
Next Jinjer song should be "I Speak Astronomy" - that false ending will absolutely blow their minds!
The music video tho 😍 such artistry
"So far this song is so chill."
Me - Do the roar!
There's a lot of good vocal coaches that can explain screaming and growling technique. ...don't try it without learning how to do it right, you could hurt your voice. 🤘
I'm a vocalist and I approve of this message! There is one thing that I would add; "When it comes to vocal damage be cautious but don't worry. Your vocal cords are more resistant than you think. Think about it we all have yelled at one point in our lives and it has not lead to vocal damage. Of course if you yell a lot you will get vocal damage. The same is true for screaming incorrectly. If you feel any discomfort stop immediately and take a break. If you still feel discomfort rest your voice for a few days. Remember be cautious and stay safe. To stay safe you do the right technique, warm up, stay hydrated, keep forward resonance, keep your throat relaxed, and don't overwork yourself(if you are tired it can be dangerous because you tend to put more pressure on your throat.)"
Also, some good vocal coaches are Mary Z, Chris Liepe, and Kardavox academy!
She is not the first female singer to growl like that, she does a great job though. If you want to check out another female who can do that give the band Arkona a listen
Arkona is really great!
yeah, she's not the first by far but she's definately one of the best
archenemy?
The Agonist, Otep, Arch Enemy, etc.
The overwhelming consensus was that she was just using excellent growl technique....But it has recently come to light that scientists have confirmed through extensive testing, that she did in fact swallow the devil. Good job lil dude for guessing spot on.
I love his idea for using this technique as self defense. Might work!
@@3YearsApart1613 Usually people say you'd better not have an argument with Tatiana... you'll loose instantly...
I am a vocalist and I can in fact confirm that we do indeed swallow the devil to growl.
Love how they got pushed back into the couch in terror with pops in the window. Priceless reaction!!!!
"Her voice is so different from anything I've heard." Just wait a few more seconds...😂😂😂
Welcome to the Jinjer Family!!!’ You’re In for a GREAT ride!!!
A demon possessed anger frog, now that’s a good one.
Try listening Devin Townsend - Kingdom from EMGtv! Is mindblowimg!!
Especially if they know he's a dad with a kid around their age, hahaha!
Did she swallow the devil? has got to be one of the best lines I've seen ever to a reaction of this! Try Teacher Teacher, my fav.
Walker has the best one liners. Maybe I should make a shirt with that on it..lol
Question: "How does one discover they can growl/scream like a metal vocalist?"
Answer: One sings along with their favorite metal song(s) and discovers it accidentally. Once discovered, one usually hones their ability into a instrument, like Tatiana did...
Not really. Anyone has the potential of doing it. It is just a matter of learning the biology and the techniques. I am a vocalist and I took me months to learn to do it and a year or so later I am still learning how to manipulate the basics to do different styles.
@@Gregorycrafter but thats the same as clean singing, anyone can learn to sing but nobody will sound the same, thats a minsconception with growls? Yes it can be learn as any other technic but that doesnt mean youre gonna sound like this or other great growls in music, in fact Tatisna didnt need to learn to growl like you said, she has it and just figured herself how to make it consistent without lessons
@@diegosotomiranda4107 she needed to learn it she just did it by herself
Yes everybody sounds differently though it can be manipulated
Exactly! I discovered I could do this long before this type of singing came to the forefront of metal. Just singing in my car one night, and messing around with my range, and it just happened. While it can be learned, having a natural ability gives you a definite head start. I have Hypermobility Syndrome, and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and I have no idea whether that was my natural inroad to being able to manipulate my voice in different manners.
Their dad knows what's up.
You can check out any live version, specially Who is going to be the one?
Edit: You don't discover the "talent" for it, you actively practice to achieve the tone
Do not try to growl it takes incredible amount of training to do it and u have to be a good singer to do it... Do not try it you will damage ur vocal cords..it's not something normal Tatiana is just very very talented... P.S if u look up her current pictures she has a dragon tattooed on her neck I'd say very appropriate
@TheBlackiwid ruclips.net/video/WOfmnbU5S5o/видео.html
@TheBlackiwid it does take training as a singer I know it does because even if u have a good teacher and do it in 30 minutes you have a risk of harsh damage to your vocal cords... It has to be mastered before doing it in a constantly without damage to one's vocal cords and mastering it takes time
It's a Quetzalcoatl, not a dragon.
@@blaken2880 thank you...
Practice practice practice, kids!
"Did she swallow the devil" I fking died on that 😂😂💀💀
"I'm gonna show this to my friends", and thus, the next generation of metalheads are born...
I saw them in San Antonio last year. They're even better live. She really sings like that all night. 🤘😈🤘
That is so amazing
Pisces is a great icebreaker. Jinjer's other tracks are just as impressive.

There are so many now. I also like Once Human and Straight Line Stitch. I used to have a list of about 19 bands like this, but I misplaced it. ☹️
You two have found the rabbit hole. Time to dive down.
Welcome to the world of music that’s not played on the radio.
You can learn to growl just like her (well maybe not EXACTLY like her, but you know what i mean) with a ton of vocal training. But you need to be careful and do a lot of small vocal techniques and exercises to develop your chords, otherwise you might actually do a lot of damage to your throat and voice. Takes years of practice for some people, though it helps to be a naturally talented singer like her
if you try this without knowing what you are doing you will damage your voice.
She doesn’t use her vocal chords she growls from her diaphragm and false chords. If anyone used their vocal chords they couldn’t use their head voice on a dime. I’ve seen them live twice and I can assure you she does the same thing constantly for nearly 2 hours, every day, all over the world on extremely large tours.
Yeah, anyone can learn to scream but it does not take years. You can learn the basics in months. What takes years is learning to manipulate the basic in various different ways. Also, it is as dangerous as you are saying. You can do it safely as long as you do the right technique, warm up, stay hydrated, keep a forward resonance, keep a relaxed throat, and don't overwork yourself(when you are tired it can be dangerous because you tend to put more pressure on your throat when you are tired). As a vocalist the advice I give to new screamers is "Practice when you can. If you feel any discomfort take a break and then get back to practicing. If you still feel discomfort then rest your voice for a few days or so and then get back to practicing.". I say this because that discomfort is only a sign that you are doing it wrong. But, doing the wrong technique will only produce damage if you do it for a while. Think about it we all have yelled at one point in our life but it has not produced any damage but if you are yelling for some time then that can lead to damage. Basically be cautious but not worried.
@@johnosenbaugh2250 You are correct that the distortion doesn't come from her vocal cords but her false cords. And that it needs good diaphragm support. But, the vocal cords play a role and she does not do it for 2 hours a day(as you can she Jinjer concerts last 30mins ~ 1h) because if she did she would overwork herself. I recommend 45mins a day with 15mins of that being a warm up.
The technique that she is using is know as "fry screaming" it is were the vocal cords are close to closed and air goes through the slit making a buzzing/static noise and then becomes more distorted because it make the false cords(Also known as the vestibular folds) and the aryteniod cartilage flap around and then it resonate on the soft palate. It took me about a half a year to learn to do it and it is perfectly safe as long as you warm up, stay hydrated, keep a forward resonance, keep your throat relaxed, and don't overwork yourself(When your tired it can be dangerous because then you tend to put more pressure on your throat). There is another technique that is commonly used and it is called "false cord screaming". It is very similar with the only difference being that the vocal cords are open and the false cord and aryteniod cartilage flaps around even more. You can tell difference between them easily because false cord screams sound more breathy, typically have a lower tone, and can't be held for as long(because it uses more air). If you have any more questions feel free to ask me!
@@Templarofsteel88 Not, necessarily. Yes, of course you can damage your vocal cords if you do it incorrectly for a while. As a vocalist the advice I give to new screamers is "If there is discomfort stop immediately and take a break. If you still have discomfort then rest your voice for a few days. Basically be cautious about vocal damage but don't worry.". Think about it we all have yelled at one point in our lives but that has not lead to vocal damage. Of course if you yell a lot you will cause vocal damage. Same is true for screaming incorrectly. To do it safely you use the right technique, warm up, stay hydrated, keep forward resonance, keep your throat relaxed, and don't overwork yourself(if you are tired it can be dangerous because you tend to put more pressure on your throat.).
ok, with "angry frog" i lost my shit... 🤣🤣
I will never get bored with watching reaction videos for this song. :P
Younglings, here’s some info for you: Tatianna, the vocalist, calls herself a shy introvert and a geek, but she also has a gift of music. She learned younger in her life that she could make the growl sound, and rest is history. Now, she has a stage persona, but it is a talent she had to work hard on, because without the persona, she says she could never get on stage. As for the growl, the muscles she uses to make that sound are the same muscles required to sing Opera. That is why she can transition between her sweet voice and the growl, then back again effortlessly.
That 13 yr. old dude needs to sing for a metal band.
He does the voice perfectly. Better than most ! ;-)
Imagine Tati, the vocalist, as a parent. "GO TO BED" "BRUSH YOUR TEETH AS WELL AS FLOSS"
Holy crap! I'm DYING!!! THOSE expressions had me in tears. Best expressions/reactions for "Pisces".
It took several years of practice for her to be able to do that without hurting herself. She and the band are all very talented and are amazing to see in concert
It has taken her years but I would say "it has taken her year to learn how to do it without hurting herself". Because it probably has taken her a few months to learn how to do it without hurting herself but what takes years is learning how to manipulate it in various different ways.
I haven't seen a reaction to this song I didn't love yet. Lol. I've seen a lot in the music world in my 20 years of exploring it but the fact that she was able to go back and forth between clean and growls so easily was what impressed me the first time I heard it. That woman has a talent.
Her voice doesn't hurt after singing like that. It's all about technique. We feel like it hurts because if we try and do the same, we'd end up in pain after 2 seconds. But it's because we have no clue on how to do it properly, so we do it in a way it's not supposed to. Hence the pain. You can look up some tutorials online about "vocal fry" or "growling". Again, all about technique and even you guys could do it safely. Tatiana is just talented beyond imagination, does it effortlessly, with power and range. Amazing artist. Cheer guys !
Yep, you are mostly correct. One thing though; it is not vocal fry. Vocal fry is that sound sassy teenage girls make. You can do it by singing a note and dropping the pitch until you hear a poping sound. That is vocal fry. What Tati is doing is called "fry screaming".
I know some of the technical things about screaming(because I am a vocalist and have been for 2yrs now) and it does not hurt at all. It actually kinda feels like humming except you feel little to none vibration under the Adam's apple and there is slightly more pressure in your throat. You can tell difference between them easily because false cord screams sound more breathy, typically have a lower tone, and can't be held for as long(because it uses more air). I am not as familiar with false cord screams as I am with fry screams so there might a difference with the feeling but I'm not sure. There's different methods to learn the techniques. I can tell you how to get started on learning to scream if you want! And if you have any more questions feel free to ask me!
Very good reaction, but there is something that I really liked and I want to highlight. She immediately noticed (and few reacting to this song do) the quality of the drummer. A girl walking over a bunch of adults who never said anything about it.
Its training and talent, it requires very precise control to do it without hurting yourself.
My current favorite band. All of their songs are amazing. Way too much talent in this band.
I love watching people react to this video; their faces are priceless.
"do they just start retching and say, maybe I can turn this into a song".
I like that kid.
I had the same reaction to Jinjer and now I listen to them daily.
Is there any wonder that your videos are so popular? You two are entertainment incarnate !
I suggest you "teacher, teacher", that song is just AMAZING
Just discovered your channel because of one of my hobbies (watching jinjer reactions) and you guys are really likeable. You earned my sub. Stay open minded and true to yourselves. :)

@@terrymckim5363 lol
This is a special singing technique, and everyone has the biology to do it, be it men or women. It could take years to master it, but it is indeed impressive.
Yep, looks correct to me. The only correct that I would add is that you can learn the basics in a matter of months but what takes years is learning to manipulate the basics.
There is no bad reaction to this song. Even better when people don’t look like they enjoy this kind of music 🤘🤘🤘keep up the good work
Hey guys! Nice reaction lol. You guys seem to be interested in how Tatiana does her "growls" so I'll do my best to explain.
What she does is called "False Chord Scream/Growl" it's a very safe way of doing growls, without hurting your vocal chords as much. From what I know though, it is very hard to do, and takes a lot of time and dedication to perfect. In addition, Growling/Screaming is basically a vocal technique mainly used in metal music to provide more power in the music. Hope this helps!
I had the exact same reaction my First Time hearing This now 3 years later i am the biggest Fan.
You will be blown away by The HU from Mongolia (Wolf Totem)...Throat Singing......ALIEN WEAPONRY with Maori Language...Bloodywood from India.....so much more to discover from all over the world!
Not everyone can scream but training and vocal fry exercises help one to know one’s own proficiency with such vocal work. I’m actually a screamer but I use my screams primarily for my voice acting hobby rather than music, so I still have a pretty good knowledge of what I’m talking about.
Ok OK... I have to admit it... my guilty pleasure is looking for new reactions to this song. The shock value is priceless! I have watched dozens of reactions and your reaction was among the best. Genuine shock. A couple of folks smelled something was up and that cushioned the blow. Your reaction couldn't have been any more genuine if she'd literally sprouted horns and wings! Awesome stuff. Literally made my day. I had a unfair advantage when I first saw the video. I'd heard Jinjer before and I also had seen a young lady more than 10 years ago that fronted a metalcore band ( these kids were like 18 years old ) and she put most of the guys that played that night to shame. It does require technique to do the growl like that and not hurt yourself. I can do it but I already have a really deep voice and lots of experience adding grit to my tone. But I could not do that for a whole evening because I have not mastered the actual technique. And truthfully, that is because I don't find that style all that appealing. My personal surprise with this song is her natural voice. Super smooth. Many of the female metal singers ( not all ) have a bit of rasp in the their natural voice. BTW I am a musician and once upon a time I did it professionally.
Ah, it's nice seeing another vocalist here!
@@Gregorycrafter I did some lead vocals but mostly backup. Started as a drummer and became a bassist because I got tired of nobody doing my songs. LOL I've used my "demon" growl for effect on several songs over the years. My personal favorite use was when I made the little brother of a girl I was hitting on flee in terror. I thought she was going to hyperventilate she was laughing so hard. In retrospect it was cruel and way over the top but hey when you are a young man and somebody is cramping your style... you know. lol
I feel like I just watched two children have heart attacks simultaneously. As for how you do that, it's INCREDIBLE vocal training. What she's doing doesn't hurt her vocal chords because she's not using them. She's using false chords (vocal folds). It's possible with LOTS of training. If you DON'T train, you WILL wreck your voice.
The metal screams take years of practice to not hurt your throat, it has a special technique to do professionally and safely. She has practiced her screams for 10+ years, to the point where its effortless.
As far as reaction channels go JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019) and Teacher, Teacher are the next 2 on the list
you can tell my son i skeptical the rest of the song...that was so totall worth it...lol
That was awesome! I absolutely had to back up and watch it again
Every time anyone sees that video for the first time they have the same look on their faces you had. Tatiana is a unique talent and she does the lyrics on their songs. Try the songs "Teacher,Teacher" or "I Speak Astronomy" and you will begin to understand.

Her "growls" are a technique known as vocal fry. It's difficult but it allows one to growl without harming your vocal cords and it takes a lot of training. If you want to hear man go mind blowingly low, Voice Play's This is Halloween and Oogie Boogie's song are a must!

Pisces reaction videos never get old. Well done kids.
Jinjer, teacher teacher, or a young up and coming band from Canada, motion device, either wide awake or alive or soul shaker
Yeah, being schoolkids, they'll get a kick out of _Teacher, Teacher_ ! 😉
I love how Walker is prepared to subject others to this for his own amusement and Claire was unsure if she should be vibin' or not. I hope they looked into how people use false vocal chords for screaming. "You can use this in self defense." Legit going to start doing this when people bother me or to get out of awkward social situations. Goodbye elvish, hello metal screaming!
One of the best reactions of jinjer in a while keep on going
Thanks Rick. Glad you enjoyed it.
This is my favorite reaction video by far.
Hilarious line "did she swallow the devil?" HAHAHA! Nope, she trained her voice to do that.
4 years after your debut to Jinjer (Tatiana), I wonder if either of you are fans. Your reactions were priceless.
It’s called a vocal fry which is an actual vocal technique that can be learned. Not done correctly it can damage your vocal chords but it’s the same with normal singing if not done correctly over time it will damage your vocal chords. Bands I suggest you look up are slipknot, falling in reverse, bring me the horizon, I prevail, linkin park and slaughter to prevail. The reason I suggested these bands is because you’ll be able to here multiple different style from each artist as well as different ranges of vocal frys or screams 👍
She isn't using fry technique...
@@M_.R69 From what I recall it is called a vocal fry to get the distortion in her voice and from there she does the growl technique which are mainly used in low screams. If I'm wrong plz correct me but this is what I've come to learn over the years. I also could of been misinformed or mixed something up but again if I am wrong I wouldnt mind you correcting me :)
@@youroutcastgamer2657 she was once explaining in an interview that she doesn't use the fry technique but her own and she practiced it alot.. but i don't know what technique she's using
Yup, I agree with the people saying to check out their live performance. Their performance at Wacken 2019 of the song "Perennial" is just amazing. "Captain clock" from resurrection is amazing at the end ❤️

Perennial live at Wacken next! So these kinds of vocals started in the 80’s with underground extreme bands. There was no vocal coaches teaching this. It was trial and error. It has evolved since then. Tatiana is self-taught. She figured it out on her own but now there are vocal coaches that teach this. The trick is to do it in a healthy way without hurt your vocal chords. If it hurts you’re doing it incorrectly.
watching pisces reaction video are my hobby
If combining singing and growling in the same song is cool, you should react to Opeth, either "Deliverance" or "The Leper Affinity" from the Shepherd's Bush Empire concert. This is back when Mikael Akerfeldt's vocal abilities were really at their peak in my opinion. In later shows like Royal Albert Hall and Red Rock his growls lost a lot of their crispness. I don't think he uses them at all in newer Opeth material.
Thanks for the suggestion..will check it out.
@@3YearsApart1613 Opeth were one of the main inspiration for Jinger, it's the bass player favorite band. A really great and unique band you should check out someday :)

Go parents, go!!!
It's Her and Her Name is Tatiana Shmaylyuk from Ukraine !!! This is Call Frying Chords and it's call within the Business the Death Growl !!! It Take years of Training to accomplish Perfectly and Safely !!! Metalhead here 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Another great song from Jinjer is Captain Clock. There is both an official video as well as a live version. They are both worth checking out.
You should check out The Hu Band, totally 100% Mongolian rock band, the instruments alone are awesome! Song Wolf Totem... think Sons of Anarchy mixed with a Mongolian Horde.
