Lulu gets it! Tatiana is extremely talented and has a one-of-a-kind voice that she can turn on and off at will. And it's not just her, the entire band are great musicians.
Floor and Tatiana are on my TOP5 list of best female singers of all time. Both Floor and Tatiana are absolutely amazing, as are the other 3 on my list.
That's actually a technique that takes quite a long time to do correctly without hurting the vocal folds . There's a few other females that do this but Tatiyana does it the best but that's just my opinion. Someone else suggested Perennial Live at Waken , I would also say check that one out . I saw them live at a very small venue , great show , they sound awesome live if that's your sort of thing.

@@ReactToTheWorld No, it's not an anomaly, it's a technique in which there are different variants and styles to dominate. Growling voices like that needs to master the use of the diaphragm or the supraglottic larynx. Being able to control those skillfully requires years of training. To make it converge with clean melodic voices, it's just outstading and hard AF (switching from growls to melodic like Tatiana does in a blink, it's just the cherry on the top). Tatiana it's really well valued in the metal community 'cause she can do that growling voice and clean melodic voices with a huge range for both styles. In growling voices, she can do different tones (some much lower than those in pisces) to add layers of emotions onto the songs (Home Back is a great example), which is not easy, 'cause many growler singers just develope one main tone. In melodic singing as well, she molds her voice on different tones adjusting it to what the song needs, and being able to use even other genre styles, like reggae, Jazz or even rap-like rhythms. So, yeah. There is a huge talent there. I hope my comment could bring a little more of knowledge about this singing style and this singer as well. If you want to check a live "on stage" of them, I reccomend the Perennial Live at Wacken, 'cause you can appreciate a little more about all this, specially the switch between both styles and how she controls perfectly her throat, diaphragm and respiration to do it without breaking the flux of the song and lyrics.
She has said that she doesn't do warm up's before show's. She just does it. She's also said that she doesn't recommend anyone trying to do it that way.
Lulu looked so hesitant at first when John mentioned metal .. almost scared! But then it was John who retracted and Lulu was getting into it a bit but certainly appreciated Tatiana's talent. Tat also seldom has the same look to her in all of her videos. Ease into them. Perhaps try their song Perrenial (Live at Wacken, 2019). Jinjer fans are very loyal. They will repay you with views. There is actually one lyrical line in this video which actually does sound like that doubled, “possessed” sound effect from ‘80s & ‘90s American horror movies. It sounds like two different demons are screaming in harmony: one who is blood-drunk and one who is blood-thirsty; there’s that gargly, -half-drowned voice shadowed by the parched voice - but it’s the same voice. If you two haven’t experienced horror movies - wait until midnight, lock the doors & windows, turn off all the lights and check out this voice for yourselves for a piece of dark. Almost all of that stuff will give children nightmares - and, even if you ate 3-6 hours before viewing, it might give You nightmares. Anyway, I think Jinjer’s music embodies the stuff of which that both dreams and nightmares are made. It’s a worker’s music. It’s music for people who grew up in a house that was dropped off by a truck. It’s music that proves that the only person who is getting in your way and keeping you from living your very best life is you.
Good to see you two doing this finally. Fun reaction - subbed on this channel too haha. Lughing so hard the second time around. I've seen them twice and they are epic, and Tatiana is a mesmerizing performer. As to names, Tatiana is the angel of vocal and lyrical fury and wisdom who also does art and sewing and has a degree in teaching English and Russian literature. Eugene plays bass and is their manager who does Brazillian Jujitsu and won silver in the Ukrainian Abu Dhabi tournament, and finds jujitsu studios to train with wherever they go. Roman is the guitar wizard who cranks out seemingly infinite riffs in about every genre imaginable. and Vlad on drums is also a classically trained pianist and plays some good metal guitar too. Nothing demonic here - it is about her, through the lens of the duality represented by her Pisces astrology sign. Cleans are about depression and loneliness but also fear of intimacy, growls are about pain, anger, and self-destructive urges. She's been singing like that in performances for over a decade and they did 152 shows last year alone. Both her growls and clean vocals get stronger year after year. After the initial shock of her vocals wears off you'll notice more of how talented the rest of the band is. I'd recommend Perennial at Wacken as a next step to see what they do on stage. Cheers!
This lovely lady understood and appreciated it! The language of her face, eyes, gestures and intonations indicate that she made a discovery not just of talent, but of bright talent, rare talent! It's so plesure to listen to her.
Tatiana is unlike any other female metal vocalist I’ve seen. It is her. This song in particular is meant to shock. But their others songs are more interesting to listen to...after you’ve witnessed this. This song doesn’t fully showcase how phenomenal the band is because they get overshadowed by the shock value. Hopefully you’ll check out more Jinjer. “Perennial” (live at Wacken) is great.

She IS a girl...with the most amazing voice!! Love this band...my wife is from the Ukraine and turned me on to them...saw them live earlier this year and that is HER voice...she's that vocally talented
Love you guys - great vid. :) Pisces is about duality; hence the shift in music and singing between voice. She's a pisces (makes a big deal about it - note the fish earrings), and wrote this song about fear and insecurity while grasping for life. If you watch the vid with the lyrics, it's a *beautiful* song. Also, check I Speak Astronomy by them, to see some variety - Pro tip: When it slows down, just let it play to the end.
Gee. Cue typical "She's the devil!" comment about Tatiana's fry vocals. So disappointing. I find it interesting that people automatically go right for those comments when, to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever heard a demon... or the devil. Maybe they actually sound like Elmo. That would make sense to me. I think Elmo sounds f*cking terrifying. Maybe angels have low, guttural voices and sound like this. That makes even more sense to me because Tatiana is definitely heaven-sent. And, by the way, fry vocals are achieved using the diaphragm and largely bypassing the vocal chords so it's not like her "voice" is that low. Just my two pennies. Stay safe everyone.
Frank Woods I get it though... there’s a lot of reactions, and very little variety in them. Watching them you constantly hope for a new phrase or thought process to describe her, and it’s really disappointing after a while to see that the general ability of people to describe has such a limited vocabulary.

You dont want people gaming it and pre-listening and reading comments so they know how people want them to react and give you the "vocabulary" you want to hear. So I can live with the initial "devil" comments in the hopes some of them find a way to appreciating the artistry involved and feel the attraction underlying. The very best reactions move from shock to intrigue to appreciation to head banging by the end.

Also media has kind of put it in our heads that these types of sounds are demonic and that's why so many people use such words to describe it.
This is his first time hearing death growls and Tatiana does have some of the lowest of most female singers. The "devil" comment is probably more like horror movies like Exorcist. Most won't like it at first. Now, I kinda prefer harsh vocals, especially if they can mix cleans with harsh.
There are a fuckload of reactions out there that serve this notion of "That is not her voice", "She just turned into a demon/devil/whatever" and less and less reactions actually initially realizing the talent level-level required for this. However, the female reactionist in this video actually recognizes said talent after the initial (and wanted) shock period. I get your disappointment, I felt it a lot too, and I also feel your frustration regarding vocal techniques. But then again, I assume you watch, at least partly, for the shock value... so what do you expect? If you expect non-metal reactions that praise her talent and skill, watch Sam Johnson or Beth Roars for instance. Both vocal coaches with very favourable reactions to Jinjer. As far as this goes, maybe further reactions will show a bit more tolerance to "alternative" singing styles?

She's using a common vocal talent called frye vocals. It's where you engage your vocal cords to make the low sounds. The other common practice is called false chords.
It's all Tatiana doing vocals. I usually have people watch Jinjer's 38 minute set on Resurrection Fest's channel if they do not believe it is her. Also her friend Lena also can do those vocals and has her own band Infected Rain.
Do more Jinjer, They have a lot of different sounds and 'vibes' that they can create, if you like more reggae Try Begger's Dance, Judgement and Punishment (you should do the new live version) and Whos gonna be the one. If you want to go more to their traditional style, Teacher Teacher is probably the best pick, along side Outlander, I speak Astronomy and Pit of Consciousness. Yes, but it's not pure "metal" either. Their music is clearly influenced by jazz and ethnic music, and they listen to other kinds of music almost every day (according to an 2019 interview i saw).

Lulu gets it...Heavy Metal is not to be confused with punk or rock. It is supremely complex and technical, if you cannot find the layers you'll never get it. It's akin to listening to classical music. Musicianship is what it's all about!

I just discovered this fantastic group yesterday in a Reaction video and I can't quit! Tatiana is def. a female as one video showed all the band members pictures from their childhood. She seems to have that genuine male demon voice as I seen several live performances of her using it. I am happy to be falling down this rabbit hole. Lulu can I just say WOW you are a fine looking woman! ;) PS- And you are not even close to clueless.
Once again this songs proves simple minds just can't grasp what they can't understand or aren't used to. This is 100% her voice and yes many women can sound like this and if done correctly you will not damage your voice. The duality of this performance is spelled-out right in the name of the song, but that requires an actual brain to understand the meaning of the song and the performance.
It is absolutely a technique, Y'all should check out some live stuff of theirs, as well as some Halestorm. Lzzy Hale, the lead singer of Halestorm, has said that her vocal fry technique makes it so that when she screams, it's just like breathing.
I see my two favorit casuals finally have meet my favorit female Singer 😅 Tatjana is in deed special. What you see is what you get live...in concert...for hours. And now, she is not "screaming" John. It's a common technique in Metal, that you can learn to do, without hurting your throat. There are many women singing like that (mostly in death metal, trash metal or metal core area). And their are mostly cute, tiny and powerfull ladies, like Angela Gossow (ex Arch Enemy) and Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Viktoria Viren (Evil Drive) or Lauren Hart (Ones Human). Vocal fry is like the traditional metal scream when you add grit to your voice but still use vocal chords and the sound has a clear pitch. This is more false vocal chords, actual vocal chords completely relaxed to not damage it. This also explains why vocal fry cannot go below your normal speaking voice much, but growls can. Different part vibrating.

It's not 'yelling' in the sense of just shouting really loud as that would really damage the vocal chords. The growling effect isn't achieved by using the vocal chords at all. In this instance the growling effect, even the high pitched one at the end, is created using the 'Fry Scream' technique which is done near the top of the throat. A slight oversimplification is it's created in the same place that the noise from a burp comes from. There's a technique to it so it doesn't ruin your vocal chords, just like singing cleanly and Tatiana does both very, very well. As an example of what happens when you use the wrong technique all the time listen to Lemmy from Motorhead's voice, I'm not knocking him he is a legend btw.
That's her voice. Tatiana is the queen of metal. She uses a technique to get the growls. Singing like that can damage your vocals if not done correctly. Need to check out there other songs like teacher teacher or perennial live.

You need to check Perrenial live in wacken, teacher teacher and I speak astronomy ❤❤❤ It's called vocal fry by the way and Tatiana is indeed one of a kind ❤ the whole band is a treat.
It is definitely not just screaming or yelling. If you try to "yell" your way through an hour long set, 5 nights a day, for an entire tour, much less multiple tours, you WILL DESTROY your vocal chords. The 'growl' or 'scream' you hear in metal is called fry singing and is very much a vocal technique, up there in difficulty with opera singing or projecting in musical theater. It is also used, albeit much less frequently, in Country music, some folk music and Choral music, mostly by bass singers. The microphone does all the work while the actual sounds she produces are low air flow and relatively low volume. It takes a ton of talent to do fry singing and clean singing interchangeable like Tatiana does. It took her nearly 10 years to get to her level.

Tatiana is unlike any other female metal vocalist I’ve seen. It is her. This song in particular is meant to shock. But their others songs are more interesting to listen to...after you’ve witnessed this. This song doesn’t fully showcase how phenomenal the band is because they get overshadowed by the shock value. Hopefully you’ll check out more Jinjer. “Perennial” (live at Wacken) is great.

Tatiana is hardly unique, there are quite a few female vocalists in metal who do the harsh screams and vocals. Jinjer are average at best. And I like this song.

Gee. Cue typical "She's the devil!" comment about Tatiana's fry vocals. So disappointing. I find it interesting that people automatically go right for those comments when, to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever heard a demon... or the devil. Maybe they actually sound like Elmo. That would make sense to me. I think Elmo sounds f*cking terrifying. Maybe angels have low, guttural voices and sound like this. That makes even more sense to me because Tatiana is definitely heaven-sent. And, by the way, fry vocals are achieved using the diaphragm and largely bypassing the vocal chords so it's not like her "voice" is that low. Just my two pennies. Stay safe everyone.
Frank Woods I get it though... there’s a lot of reactions, and very little variety in them. Watching them you constantly hope for a new phrase or thought process to describe her, and it’s really disappointing after a while to see that the general ability of people to describe has such a limited vocabulary.

You dont want people gaming it and pre-listening and reading comments so they know how people want them to react and give you the "vocabulary" you want to hear. So I can live with the initial "devil" comments in the hopes some of them find a way to appreciating the artistry involved and feel the attraction underlying. The very best reactions move from shock to intrigue to appreciation to head banging by the end.

Also media has kind of put it in our heads that these types of sounds are demonic and that's why so many people use such words to describe it.
This is his first time hearing death growls and Tatiana does have some of the lowest of most female singers. The "devil" comment is probably more like horror movies like Exorcist. Most won't like it at first. Now, I kinda prefer harsh vocals, especially if they can mix cleans with harsh.
There are a fuckload of reactions out there that serve this notion of "That is not her voice", "She just turned into a demon/devil/whatever" and less and less reactions actually initially realizing the talent level-level required for this. However, the female reactionist in this video actually recognizes said talent after the initial (and wanted) shock period. I get your disappointment, I felt it a lot too, and I also feel your frustration regarding vocal techniques.
But then again, I assume you watch, at least partly, for the shock value... so what do you expect? If you expect non-metal reactions that praise her talent and skill, watch Sam Johnson or Beth Roars for instance. Both vocal coaches with very favourable reactions to Jinjer. As far as this goes, maybe further reactions will show a bit more tolerance to "alternative" singing styles?

It's all Tatiana doing vocals. I usually have people watch Jinjer's 38 minute set on Resurrection Fest's channel if they do not believe it is her. Also her friend Lena also can do those vocals and has her own band Infected Rain.
Do more Jinjer, They have a lot of different sounds and 'vibes' that they can create, if you like more reggae Try Begger's Dance, Judgement and Punishment (you should do the new live version) and Whos gonna be the one. If you want to go more to their traditional style, Teacher Teacher is probably the best pick, along side Outlander, I speak Astronomy and Pit of Consciousness. Anyway, one of the bands that I havn't heard a bad song yet.

I just discovered this fantastic group yesterday in a Reaction video and I can't quit! Tatiana is def. a female as one video showed all the band members pictures from their childhood. She seems to have that genuine male demon voice as I seen several live performances of her using it. I am happy to be falling down this rabbit hole.

Once again this songs proves simple minds just can't grasp what they can't understand or aren't used to. This is 100% her voice and yes many women can sound like this and if done correctly you will not damage your voice. The duality of this performance is spelled-out right in the name of the song, but that requires an actual brain to understand the meaning of the song and the performance.

It is absolutely a technique, Y'all should check out some live stuff of theirs, as well as some Halestorm. Lzzy Hale, the lead singer of Halestorm, has said that her vocal fry technique makes it so that when she screams, it's just like breathing.
I see my two favorit casuals finally have meet my favorit female Singer 😅 Tatjana is in deed special. What you see is what you get live...in concert...for hours. And now, she is not "screaming" John. It's a common technique in Metal, that you can learn to do, without hurting your throat. There are many women singing like that (mostly in death metal, trash metal or metal core area). And their are mostly cute, tiny and powerfull ladies, like Angela Gossow (ex Arch Enemy) and Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Viktoria Viren (Evil Drive) or Lauren Hart (Ones Human). You could at least appreciate how great her clean voice was. I mean that high mixed voice note she does toward the end is epic.
Not yelling bro. That takes extreme talent. Vocal fry is something that takes a lot of practice to get to her level.
It's false chord growl which actually makes this much better for the voice and more sustainable, also makes flipping into cleans faster and cleaner
Vocal fry is like the traditional metal scream when you add grit to your voice but still use vocal chords and the sound has a clear pitch.
This is more false vocal chords, actual vocal chords completely relaxed to not damage it.
This also explains why vocal fry cannot go below your normal speaking voice much, but growls can. Different part vibrating.

It's not 'yelling' in the sense of just shouting really loud as that would really damage the vocal chords. The growling effect isn't achieved by using the vocal chords at all. In this instance the growling effect, even the high pitched one at the end, is created using the 'Fry Scream' technique which is done near the top of the throat. A slight oversimplification is it's created in the same place that the noise from a burp comes from. There's a technique to it so it doesn't ruin your vocal chords, just like singing cleanly and Tatiana does both very, very well.
As an example of what happens when you use the wrong technique all the time listen to Lemmy from Motorhead's voice, I'm not knocking him he is a legend btw.
That's her voice. Tatiana is the queen of metal. She uses a technique to get the growls. Singing like that can damage your vocals if not done correctly. Need to check out there other songs like teacher teacher or perennial live.
Voice coaches will tell you that no this isn't yelling it's actually closer to operatic singing

It's called vocal fry by the way and Tatiana is indeed one of a kind ❤ the whole band is a treat.
It is definitely not just screaming or yelling. If you try to "yell" your way through an hour long set, 5 nights a day, for an entire tour, much less multiple tours, you WILL DESTROY your vocal chords. The 'growl' or 'scream' you hear in metal is called fry singing and is very much a vocal technique, up there in difficulty with opera singing or projecting in musical theater. It is also used, albeit much less frequently, in Country music, some folk music and Choral music, mostly by bass singers. The microphone does all the work while the actual sounds she produces are low air flow and relatively low volume. It takes a ton of talent to do fry singing and clean singing interchangeable like Tatiana does. It took her nearly 10 years to get to her level.
