Fun fact: This video was not shot to show off her vocals, but to show off their new drummer Vlad. Pisces was regarded as the weakest song on their album King of Everything. When Vlad joined the band he put a different, more jazzy spin on the drumming. The rest of the band liked this so much that they wanted to re-record the song and release as a single. Pisces is a personal song for vocalist Tatiana and was never meant to be popular. However this video went viral, just due to the extreme switch up in vocal style and really helped launch their international carreer. Jinjer is a Ukrainean band and the members are: Tatiana (vocals), Eugene (bass), Roman (guitar) and Vladislav (drums).
To further explore Jinjer, the natural next step is "Perennial" live from Wacken Open Air 2019 or "Teacher Teacher" (either official video or live from Melbourne), or "Judgement (& Punishment)" (either Tatiana's one-take vocal performance or Live in Melbourne)

@@SeanStaxxMusic They are definately a great live band. I was supposed to see them at a rock and metal festival here in Norway this summer, but that of course didn't happen. Now I am anxiously hoping next year's festival will not get canceled too, as they are already signed up for that one.
@@SeanStaxxMusic The one from Wacken? They did only mentioned it on their social media, but that one was completely raw audio. Just so you know what to expect, since most of the high quality live recordings are a little bit mixed for a better experience / audio quality.
This video here of course has proper post production polish applied to it, since it is a proper re-recording of the song.

The name of the song is Pisces, the duality of the fish in relation to the growls vs the clean vocals. Gets better every time you listen to it!

There's an interview with Loudwire on youtube where she goes into how she learned to do that scream.
And it's the switch that really gets me. Been chasing female-fronted metal for awhile so I've heard quite a few other women do the scream, but I don't think I've seen any that can transition in and out of it nearly seamlessly as she does.

Lol it's her voice. It takes a lot of vocal training to do it, and do it right so you're not tearing up your throat. You have to project and open your throat. It's hard to describe.
Basically your vocal cords open completely and the false cords/vocal folds above vibrate due to the air pressure being sent through. It takes a lot of breath control and excellent technique to pull off that sound healthily
The initial scream reaction is great and I love it, but I find I like the reaction to the end where she goes from the scream, sing, and back to scream. The recognition of the talent that it takes to pull that off in a short amount of time is so satisfying.

I recommend any song from Jjnjer but I myself prefer their live performances over the music videos, but their music Videos are still great. They have also done a couple of quarantine colabs with suicide silence where they covered territorial pissings by nirvana , and Man in the box by alice in chains

Tatiana the vocalist for jinjer is primarily a self taught vocalist taught too! her vocal fry and false chord is par none one of the best out there for technicality. jinjer over the past few years has almost created a cult like following with their God like music and their unique sound as not many could replicate them. teacher teacher would be another good one for you to check out if you wanted to at all.
also duct tape smile by psyopus is a song you would not be able to comprehend. it is extremely fast and not sped up on track at all. all the notes hit at the speed were all being done irl by the guitarist in the song as well.

I discovered Jinjer not long ago... I know a lot of people say this sing or that song, I was most impressed with Tatiana's Best moments video, ( just her goofing around and concert footage ). In that video she has clips of her singing a Russian song with an acoustic guitar, a Spanish song with same guitar, a 10-15 second clip of an Adele song Karaoke style, A Freddie Mercury song ( with mustache lol ), at the end she does a cute short version of Dio's "Holy Diver" plus a few growl demos. ruclips.net/video/gakVMC-Y_Zk/видео.html&start_radio=1

These are usually the next steps: Perennial (live at Wacken 2019) if you want a good showcase of her vocal range and singing ability, Who is Gonna Be the One (live) if you want to hear how low her growls can get, and an all around performance of her talent along with the band's talents on display is Teacher, Teacher. Last but not least if you want to see Tatiana absolutely slay a song in one take then go for Judgement (and Punishment) Tatiana's one take vocals.
Hey! Cool video! The growling is actually not produced by the voice (which would die), but by false vocal chords beneath the larynx (I think)...maybe that helps your brain to compute ;) If you enjoyed that, you might wanna check out The Eagle Flies Alone by Arch Enemy :)

Be careful what you wish for haha. That was a fun reaction. Subbed. :D Technically it isn't her "voice" because it isn't the vocal cords making that sound, rather the vestibular folds a.k.a. false vocal cords. Takes lots of practice to make sounds, let alone words, to say nothing of singing with those flaps of tissue that are just supposed to close the throat. She spent 4 years learning the technique and has been performing with growls for over a decade. She can go even lower - check out their most recent release Sit Stay Roll Over live in Melbourne released earlier this week. There are a ton of other great songs to react to, especially their concert stuff. I've seen them twice and they are epic on stage. Cheers!

Tatiana can play guitar, as it happens. And the bald guy (Vlad) is a classically trained pianist turned guitarist turned drummer. His drum set is tiny and set up in an odd way, he plays open handed and fills a lot of sound texture with interesting stuff - lots of ghost notes in this song. The whole band is very talented.
