I’ve always felt the Plates shouldn’t be held items for Arceus, and should just change Arceus to whatever respective for that plate is. That way, Arceus could still at least use a held item. Imagine a Legends Plate Arceus that could still hold an item

In doubles it has free boosts through a partner, too, even if they suck lol. I'm probably overestimating it a bit, but I feel a Pokemon with boosted permastab with a 720 stat total would be rough.

Marshadow being a cute little ghost that is capable of beating gods and kaijus using their own boosts against them is something that resonates with me deeply.
I wish Marshadow was legal in VGC, I'd love to send it out against a Calyrex Ice after it gets a double kill so I could just steal the +2 and annihilate it

@ The short version is that (almost) every movie was making less than the previous one did, and the anime was going through a major directorial shift during Gens 7 and 8 anyway. The movies were already on their way out as is, and then the pandemic hit the final nail in the coffin. We haven’t gotten any movies since the pandemic, with the only information being rumors of a Detective Pikachu sequel which A. isn’t an anime movie, and B. probably doesn’t exist anymore to begin with, what with how many delays these plans have had.

Also it would probably destroy AG to the same degree as revive cats did to natdex. Running 6 legend plate arceus would be a legitimately viable strategy if not the outright best. Other than lacking switch moves arceus has a near perfect moveset

A bulky arceus can tank multiple hits while still having enough speed evs to be faster and click recover. Groudon would be cooked. Also it can't even attempt a sweep because arceus knows foul play and will one shot if you swords dance and arceus can also tera.
One thing I will note about Arceus in gen 4, yes it was restricted to 100 EVs but that's not the same as having base 101 in every stat. The EVs that would have otherwise gone into its attack or HP are going into other stats, so it's more like having base 101 Attack and HP and base 132 Defense and Special Defense.
I loved using Deoxys-A in ORAS Ubers as a mixed attacker. OHKO-ing Primal Groudon with neutral Psycho Boost was so good. I ran Psycho Boost as my only special move so I could stay in after killing Groudon and spam Low Kick, Knock Off, and Extremespeed.
It was catching strays because of its own signature move. Spore isn't nerfed as far as I can recall. But I'm not a metaslave either. I just used to be a common online battler outside of the smogonverse. And I saw the abundance of Darkrai sleeping whole teams because it was widely distributed in Gen 6 games.
If it were ever released, it'd still be banned from AG faster than anything else has ever been banned from anything. Even "Anything" cannot contain that.

Using Gen 5 Extreme Killler as a baseline "ideal" EV distribution for EK Arceus, rather than what's shown in this vid you'd need the following base stats to match 100 max EV/stat Arcues' final stats using the "ideal" spread: 107.5 HP, 101 Attack, 132.5 Def, 120 SpA, 132.5 SpD, 125.5 Speed. (for example, 132 base Def + 0 EVs = 300 final Def, 120 Def + 100 Evs = 301 final Def) Far cry from the Mew +1 stats that some might interpret the vid as saying.

It always felt like Bad Dreams should also be Gengar's ability, and for Dream Eater to be a generally decent ghost attack that crits against sleeping targets. Stronger than hex and also heals, nice to offset life orb.

I’m surprised yall didn’t mention the addition of trick when talking about gen 8 specs magearna. It was a pretty notable reason why specs started taking off.
My counter for Marshadow in gen 8 AG was Kangaskan with Scrappy ability and fake out, counter and sucker punch (facade if it got burnt) and a focus sash. So many rage quits, was delightful.
The funny thing is I’d go as far as to say arceus a one of the best pokemon of all time period he was the best pokemon in both gen4 and gen5 in gen6 he was easily top3 but in anything goes he was the most used in gen7 he was a top5 and in gen9 he’s top 5 can you think of any other pokemon that has remained that dominant despite powercreep for 6 generations the only contender I can think of is groudon including his primal from which is top 5 in gen4 top 10 in gen4 same in gen5 primal groudon is number 1 in both gen6 and gen7 and then good in both gen8 and gen9
First off how is Shaymin Sky without any sort of mention. Second off what is with this consistent claim that the EV limit basically means Arceus basically had base 100 stats in Gen 4? Yeah sure it can't even be AS strong and fast or AS bulky but it's still investing the full 510 EV's. Like it gets 127 stat points from it's EV's be it Gen 4 or any other Gen. It's completely disingenuous to say it basically has the same stats as Mew or Manaphy, that would only be true if those Pokémon could invest the full 252 into every single stat at once.
@dimaginarylaw Their coverage profiles are extremely similar, but in this video it was in reference to Darkrai's Dark Pulse/Focus Blast coverage, so Dark/Fighting. (Admittedly, they also talked about Marshadow so I can see where the confusion came from) Fun fact, Sleep Talk Choice Scarf Guts Heracross was a thing in gen 4 ubers as a Darkrai check. Ash also tried it against Tobias, but it didnt work quite as well.
Its so interesting what they (Game Freak) thought would be the strongest pokemon strategy of all time. They could have done everything. But Arceus is really low-powered for what it is. Item restriction to choose typing is something they never would do today. But the take to give it the most boring type as standard, and making it receive E-Speed + Swords Dance is really interesting. They could go completely out of the window, but just choose Arceus to be the perfect E-Speed mon.
Since FSG made How Pokemon Saved the Fighting Type, I propose we get more videos focused on said types and how they were treated in later installments. Now I'm not saying these are possibilities, but maybe something along the lines of How Pokemon Redeemed the Poison/Ice types, to an unlikely chance of How Pokemon Broke the Fairy type. Last one's a bit odd, though I can explain if neccessary.

Arceus normal is so good in gen 9 Ubers that you only need these four moves. Extreme speed, shadow claw, sword dance, and recover. So annoying to battle…. Unless you have hisuian zoroark aka the best counter to acrues. Lol
Mew as honorable mention for being 4 generations an Uber. Top 5 Ubers would be nice. Kyogre, Primal Groudon, Arceus (again), Necrozma Dusk Mane are the ones I kinda expect but who knows what will be on the list.
Arceus with its 20 sets that dominated Ubers through the years truly deserves the Nr. 1 Spot. And thats not even talking about the one and only E-Killer set hehe. Its the God of all Pokemon for a reason. Sure it got powercrept a bit with faster and stronger Pokemon added to the game but its immense Bulk usually still lets it do things its supposed to do. And then you can even play it as an amazing support Pokemon with its almost limitless movepool.
Honestly, there's few enough Mythicals I would have liked either a full ranking, or at least enough honourable (or dishonourable, as it were) between this video and the prior one for casual watchers to have an idea of how just about every Mythical has performed in shorthand.

Demote Phione and Manaphy from their mythical status like what they did with Deoxys in ORAS. That part is already done via Legends Arceus. So the GOD is now accessible in legitimate ways
And more importantly, Phione should evolve to A Manaphy. Make the baby slug a grinder to evolve than Hydreigon in levels and requirements

@sethdavis3046 maybe we could say that otherwise, for example I want to build a gen9 UU team and in my team I need a special wallbreaker should I go for a latios or a greninja since both have their qualities but I decide to go greninja since it can also sweep more easily that Latios late game and this fact is the justification of why I chose greninja
@sethdavis3046 the reason I call this the hydreigon theorem is that since gen 5, hydreigon suffered from not being able to justify itself in a team instead of mons than Latios in gen5 or ash-greninja in gen7

My counter for Marshadow in gen 8 AG was Kangaskan with Scrappy ability and fake out, counter and sucker punch (facade if it got burnt) and a focus sash. So many rage quits, was delightful.

The funny thing is I’d go as far as to say arceus a one of the best pokemon of all time period he was the best pokemon in both gen4 and gen5 in gen6 he was easily top3 but in anything goes he was the most used in gen7 he was a top5 and in gen9 he’s top 5 can you think of any other pokemon that has remained that dominant despite powercreep for 6 generations the only contender I can think of is groudon including his primal from which is top 5 in gen4 top 10 in gen4 same in gen5 primal groudon is number 1 in both gen6 and gen7 and then good in both gen8 and gen9

First off how is Shaymin Sky without any sort of mention.
Second off what is with this consistent claim that the EV limit basically means Arceus basically had base 100 stats in Gen 4? Yeah sure it can't even be AS strong and fast or AS bulky but it's still investing the full 510 EV's. Like it gets 127 stat points from it's EV's be it Gen 4 or any other Gen.
It's completely disingenuous to say it basically has the same stats as Mew or Manaphy, that would only be true if those Pokémon could invest the full 252 into every single stat at once.
Stellar Type on Arceus should have made Judgement super-effective on all targets.

Its so interesting what they (Game Freak) thought would be the strongest pokemon strategy of all time. They could have done everything. But Arceus is really low-powered for what it is. Item restriction to choose typing is something they never would do today. But the take to give it the most boring type as standard, and making it receive E-Speed + Swords Dance is really interesting. They could go completely out of the window, but just choose Arceus to be the perfect E-Speed mon.
Regardless of stat spread, the creator of the Pokemon world itself is always the best.

Arceus normal is so good in gen 9 Ubers that you only need these four moves. Extreme speed, shadow claw, sword dance, and recover. So annoying to battle…. Unless you have hisuian zoroark aka the best counter to acrues. Lol

Arceus with its 20 sets that dominated Ubers through the years truly deserves the Nr. 1 Spot. And thats not even talking about the one and only E-Killer set hehe. Its the God of all Pokemon for a reason. Sure it got powercrept a bit with faster and stronger Pokemon added to the game but its immense Bulk usually still lets it do things its supposed to do. And then you can even play it as an amazing support Pokemon with its almost limitless movepool.
Honestly, there's few enough Mythicals I would have liked either a full ranking, or at least enough honourable (or dishonourable, as it were) between this video and the prior one for casual watchers to have an idea of how just about every Mythical has performed in shorthand.
