This perfectly illustrates the huge overlap between rockabilly and western swing
Thank you for watching :)
Not far from jump blues either.
Back in the early 90’s I used to frequent a locally owned record shop in Rochester, NY (can’t recall the name, sorry). I went in one time and asked them for rockabilly recommendations and was told instead “if you really want to dive into rockabilly you should start with western swing and jump blues.” I walked out with two of the Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys Tiffany Transcriptions series and a Wynnonie Harris anthology. Life changing moment for my enjoyment of music.
Damian, I freaking love how passionate you are about the style, and the ideas you share are always awesome. A big thanks from Brazil, dude!
Thank you very much my friend. Cheers :)

Great lesson, Damian, and way to bring it to us the way that is all you. Wouldn’t want it any other way.👍🏽
Thank you very much :)
When I was a kid, my parents drove me and my sister to Ft. Lauderdale every couple years on vacation , stopping in Mobile and getting on the USS Alabama was always part of the trip. To say that it’s cool is such an understatement. I’m glad you got to visit.
Awesome, it's such a cool ship. I think I've been to it at least 10 times now. :)
Bravissimo Damian. Thanks 🖖🏻🎸
Thank you :)

Love your 7SECONDS shirt. Always love The Crew. Great lesson, too!
Such a great album. 7 Seconds was a band that I immediately liked when I first heard them back in Jr. High School. Cheers :)
Damian- you’re so freakin cool! Absolutely love everything you do here! Plus always the bonus punk rock t-shirts for the video (7 Seconds is one of my all time favorites). You ROCK!
Thank you very much Mark. When I first head "The Crew" in the mid 80s I immediately became a fan. :)
Another great one, Damien!
Thank you brother :)
Love that 7 seconds tee!!
Fantastic!
Thank you :)
Thank you. I’ve only become aware of you in the last month or two. I really dig how you have these lessons set up in bite size chunks. I enjoy all the material that you cover.
Thank you very much Rob. I really appreciate it :)
@@Damianblf, just a side note Damian, I went to high school with Brian Setzer and in our junior year I talked him into giving me a few lessons.
Just logged this in to my tab book..another great composition from you to all of us..thanks, now to practice over and over...lol
Enjoy the lesson. Keep on rockin' my friend :)
Cool thanks!!!
Thank you for watching :)
Thanks Damian for your wonderful lessons!!! My band suggested to play some Imelda May cover (Mayhem) and the guitar player does some rockabilly style hybrid picking solo. Your lessons help me to get into the "right mood" for this kind of songs. Your videos are so well done - the performance, the slow guide through the licks and the tabs!!! Very generous!! Great work.
Thank you very much :)
Thanks a lot buddy I'll be adding this to my tool box
Thank you for watching :)
Nice stuff thanks
Thank you :)

Thank you Jim :)
You are awesome!
Thank you for the kind words :)
Great video, Damian. I've loved this style for years but never tried to play it, Now I'm in with both feet. I even bought a Gretsch!
Awesome. Glad you're enjoying the lessons :)
Thanks, Damian !! Viewing your videos from Sunny Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Followed your tabs with my. A/E Gretsch G5022CWFE. Good Lessons.
Thank you very much :)
Love the 7 Seconds shirt.
I have a copy of that album I bought in the 80s. Both sides of the album were pressed as side one. I was bummed out when I bought it. But now I think it’s pretty cool.
Thank you :)
Thats kool thanks
Glad you enjoyed the lesson :)

sooo coool---its like iced coffee with ice cream 😎😎
Thank you :)
Coooooool ........
Thank you :)
Great lesson Damian, but I am having problems playing the B7 chord shape, 7467, due to my fingers being a tad short. Stretching exercises - or use a different B7 shape?
Thanks for watching. I know it's a bit of a stretch but keep at it. That Freddy King 9th chord voicing sounds so good and it's got a cool distinct sound to it. It's got a lot of flavor. Keep on rockin' my friend. :)
Great lesson Damian - do you like the Gretsch w/o the pickguard?
Thank you Darrell. I do like how the guitar looks without it. Back in the 90s I saw Brian Setzer had taken them off and I thought it looked cool without. :)
These would sound good in jazz and Western swing too
Thanks for watching :)
Your a Star your a star a new suit and a new guitar, I know that you will go far cus your a star..lol
Thank you for watching :)
Im fairly new to rockabilly guitar playing, coming from mainly rock and blues.
My question is, when using a slap back tape echo, how much reverb is used in the amp?
Love your channel
Thanks for watching Wayne. Usually I like to add just a little smidge of reverb to my overall sound when playing Rockabilly. :)
@@Damianblf Thankyou, sir.
Haven’t seen anything 7Seconds forever….nice shirt.
Thank you :)
👍👍👍
Thank you :)
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!
Thank you for watching :)
Like!!!!
Thank you my friend :)
Lovem
Thank you for watching :)
Hi Damian I hope you're well! WOndering if you can give a shout out to my colleague Wayne Hickmott who loves your videos and plays them during our shift. Would be much appreciated :)
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well.
Thanks for watching. Cheers & keep on rockin' :)
👍🇩🇪
Thank you :)
Why doesn't your Gretsch have a pick guard???
I took it off. I like the way this guitar looks without it. :)
Is that a Bifocal Media shirt. If it is it was drawn by my son-in-law. If not it's a bootleg.
My ring finger doesn’t bend backward like yours
Thank you for watching :)
To much jazz for good rockabilly
let's pretend rockabilly isn't hillbilly jazz
