I don't think ppl understand how depression and mental illness works. there are times where you can fall into a deep depression for NO apparent reason. So it wouldn't matter if you were "rich" or not.

This is a young girl, who needs guidance, and I don’t think she would make something like this up. This is serious, and while I think it would have been more appropriate to speak of in private, atleast now it’s out, and Jada & Will hopefully help guide her through a safer path from now on.

I've met people that have committed self-harm for various reasons. All very different backgrounds. It doesn't really matter how rich you are. It can stem from abuse both mental and physical, bullying or depression among other things. Based on one friends explanation, I would guess it's cathartic in a way for people that can't cope with their situation.
It can also be from growing up to fast like working. A lot of child stars have that problem they mature to fast and when they have that down time they don't know what to do. I'm not blaming the parents per se but kids are fragile no matter how mature they seem especially a kid that young.
Anxiety can also be a cause. You don't know where the put that energy that's building up inside you. It's not money, fame or lack of love. I'm betting many empaths have similar experiences.

I wouldn't experience simple sadness - everything that made me sad made me extremely depressed. I wouldn't get a little nervous - I would get panicked. You get the idea. But when I would cut myself or burn myself, the very moment I'd do it, the intense emotion would pretty much immediately subside. One of the things that disturbs me about my own self-harm is that nothing has ever felt as calm and peaceful as the few moments after I'd cut myself. It would feel sometimes like there was this sense of urgency inside my body, like this massive amount of pressure buzzing underneath my skin and I was about to explode, and then I'd hurt myself and it was like all that pressure was just released. Personally, I don't know why I started, but I remember there just being this compulsion to hurt myself that's always kind of been there. As a young child, I could never let any sore just be - I would pick and press on it and make it hurt as much as I could - and I wonder if that evolved into deliberate self-harming behaviours. I was eventually diagnosed with BPD, which is the disorder in which self-harm is the most common and actually the only disorder that lists it as an official symptom, and so I wonder sometimes if there might be a genetic component to self-harm.

To everyone saying how could Jada not know her daughter self-harmed. It's quite easy. I've hidden it from my parents for years and they don't know nor will they ever know just stop saying she's lying because lying about self-harm is not a joke and not a word to play around with lightly and say she's lying only puts more fear into other people opening up to others abouth depression. I think personally she was extremely brave to tell that both her family and the media and I hope she stays well.
*Short rant:* Scars fade. Otherwise your body would be packed with scars from falling down a tree or other accidents. A lot of my self harm scars on my arm faded already after half a year, especially if they are not as deep. You usually don't start with really deep cuts, you start with light cuts. And as far as I'm concerned you COULDN'T EVEN SEE a close up of her arm. Of course we are not able to see them. Depression, or mental illnesses in general, is not about being poor or not having it all. It's about immens emotional stress and pain you have to cope with (cutting is a coping mechanism). Most of my scars are faded too - self harm ones and cooking ones both. Even my huge c-section scar from having my first child emergently a few years ago has faded to almost invisible. 5 years is a long time for skin, it regenerates so many times over that period and most scars that only go to the first layer of skin (which is what most self harm scars do) fade fairly quickly.

I know some people are gonna be put off about how willow told her story, but it just shows how well she has come to terms with it. If she had opened up to it earlier, she may have broken down in tears. THIS just shows that she is a lot stronger within herself, and I'm proud of that.

Francene samuels because words can heal. The point of the whole show is to raise awareness to issues that need to be discussed more that are often swept under the rug. Love, loss, divorce, coparenting, depression etc. I don’t even have kids and neither does my partner but that coparenting episode had me in tears and although it’s not something that I’m going through I learned a lot.
But why is mental health seen as such a taboo topic? I think that's the bigger question here. If you go to most places in the world you are able to openly talk about your health/health care without hesitation. Why doesn't that statement apply for mental health?
Mark tafua I feel you man. I think most people are struggling or have been thru a mental struggle at some point in their life. Even like just learning how to tackle your bad habits or harmful patterns of behavior/thinking. That's mental health. Taking a shower, getting a good nights sleep and learning how to deal with stress is all mental health. It sucks that we've made so many strides as a people in other areas like technology or medicine but we haven't yet tackled what I think is like the essence of being a human being.
I really feel like all these people saying she has nothing to be depressed about are just envious of she "having it all". Having it all doesn't cure depression, and I'm sure that if all these people "had it all", it wouldn't cure their bitter ass.

Lax Xon parents don't always know. I knew a girl that use to cut higher up on her thigh so no one could see it. There are single parents too that work two jobs and can't be there every minute. Maybe when you're a parent you'll be a little more empathetic.

I became so depressed recently (I've gotten better) but my dad saw no signs I was literally sleeping all day locking myself in my room, my hygiene was pretty bad and my dad thought I was just being lazy and I wanted him to notice but I couldn't tell him my dad is Hispanic and he wouldn't understand, for a while I was self harming too because when I would get mad or sad I took my anger out on myself. I am much better now but I am sort of mad that my dad didn't see the signs

I see so many empathetic comments and that’s great, but I know and work with thousands of people, from all walks of life and never met one who SELF HARMED, that wasn’t in some type of abusive relationship, or had childhood issues. I knew two separate women who self harmed because they were stressed from school and the pain helped alleviate the stress. I also know people who self harmed because they were broken up with, one being my own ex. Yes there's more to why she did it but please don't assume it's because of an abusive family or childhood problems, that's complete speculation.
you guys i have experienced this and it is just...this really weird and "grey" feeling. It sort of just starts as a type of cognitive dissonance that just appears out of nowhere. It creeps around at noon and the feeling just increases until nightfall, and the process repeats every day. You literally would find yourself in random times very distant "from your own person," you know? Like imagine sitting down, now imagine yourself slowly floating away from your body and everything just zooming out. I swear whenever this happens to me, i feel like everything becomes so significant and it always ends up with me getting mad at myself for not accomplishing anything and putting my parents in financial burden or pain. Then the thoughts just become darker and darker. At least this was my experience.

If you know or see someone with scars from self harm or you think someone has problems with their mental illness: let them know that they are appreciated and not an outcast. Don't judge them or give them strange looks. It helps!

Most of my scars are faded too - self harm ones and cooking ones both. Even my huge c-section scar from having my first child emergently a few years ago has faded to almost invisible. 5 years is a long time for skin, it regenerates so many times over that period and most scars that only go to the first layer of skin (which is what most self harm scars do) fade fairly quickly.

I know some people are gonna be put off about how willow told her story, but it just shows how well she has come to terms with it. If she had opened up to it earlier, she may have broken down in tears. THIS just shows that she is a lot stronger within herself, and I'm proud of that.

It doesn’t matter who you are or how rich you are. Honestly, people who think that someone with depression just wants attention are one of the reasons why they’re like that.

Francene samuels because words can heal. The point of the whole show is to raise awareness to issues that need to be discussed more that are often swept under the rug. Love, loss, divorce, coparenting, depression etc. I don’t even have kids and neither does my partner but that coparenting episode had me in tears and although it’s not something that I’m going through I learned a lot.
But why is mental health seen as such a taboo topic? I think that's the bigger question here. If you go to most places in the world you are able to openly talk about your health/health care without hesitation. Why doesn't that statement apply for mental health?

Even like just learning how to tackle your bad habits or harmful patterns of behavior/thinking. That's mental health. Taking a shower, getting a good nights sleep and learning how to deal with stress is all mental health. It sucks that we've made so many strides as a people in other areas like technology or medicine but we haven't yet tackled what I think is like the essence of being a human being.

We fight not against flesh and blood. This a spiritual war ya'll. Keep saying that it isn't true. But it is true and this is why it crosses all walks of life.
People are so quick to shame parents but parents really don’t know sometimes! Like kids really can come off as happy and parents really can be blinded. You can ask if they’re ok - ask how they’re day is - ask if there’s anything they want to share, but truth is kids don’t always know what’s going on themselves or how to go about it. Moral is you can be super close to your kids and they can still be hurting some way, and hide it very well

I can only imagine how would be Jada 's feel or thought knowing this whole thing was happening in her own house and she never found out. This can be used as a warning to parents to pay more attention. It is not Jada's fault , I am not saying that. But sometimes these things happen and we cannot see it .

Willow also expressed how she felt guilty for even having pain I'm the first place. They had everything so she thought she wasn't allowed to hurt. They had her doing songs with Nicki Minaj for christ sakes, clearly that wasn't Willows energy & she knew she was giving up such an impactful career in that moment. She also was letting her parents down by saying this was dope but I'm not sure I want this. The hardest thing in the world to do is choose yourself, because you automatically reject what others have made of you.

I became so depressed recently (I've gotten better) but my dad saw no signs I was literally sleeping all day locking myself in my room, my hygiene was pretty bad and my dad thought I was just being lazy and I wanted him to notice but I couldn't tell him my dad is Hispanic and he wouldn't understand, for a while I was self harming too because when I would get mad or sad I took my anger out on myself. I am much better now but I am sort of mad that my dad didn't see the signs

I see so many empathetic comments and that’s great, but I know and work with thousands of people, from all walks of life and never met one who SELF HARMED, that wasn’t in some type of abusive relationship, or had childhood issues. It just isn’t reality, the fact here is that she didn’t do it because of whip my hair, it’s deeper then that, and she will never tell exactly why she did it if she really did being that you have to take anything Hollywood tells you with a grain of salt, and NEVER for what they exactly tell you

I knew two separate women who self harmed because they were stressed from school and the pain helped alleviate the stress. I also know people who self harmed because they were broken up with, one being my own ex. Yes there's more to why she did it but please don't assume it's because of an abusive family or childhood problems, that's complete speculation.
you guys i have experienced this and it is just...this really weird and "grey" feeling. It sort of just starts as a type of cognitive dissonance that just appears out of nowhere. It creeps around at noon and the feeling just increases until nightfall, and the process repeats every day. You literally would find yourself in random times very distant "from your own person," you know? Like imagine sitting down, now imagine yourself slowly floating away from your body and everything just zooming out. I swear whenever this happens to me, i feel like everything becomes so significant and it always ends up with me getting mad at myself for not accomplishing anything and putting my parents in financial burden or pain. Then the thoughts just become darker and darker. At least this was my experience.

Depression isnt always something having to do with ur situation and how much fukin money u have. Depression can straight up be medical and it can be having to do with a chemical imbalance in ur hormones. So it ain't always just what someone been through

That's why there needs to be an age limit for famous people. Too many kids suffer sooner or later from their fame. Look at the Olson Twins and Macaulay Culkin, Lindsay Lohan. Even RUclips mom and dads shouldn't exploit their child on the internet.
being born into money - makes it not that important since they have no concept of having lack..... therefore it can make life issues even harder to deal with.... since their money makes many issues go away or never appear...….all the other real deal life issues can tear them apart- also their stuff is public as well.....sometimes having regular money is a blessing.....
