he elevated comics to the stratosphere. most influential and respected artist in the field.
Totally agree
I was blessed to have had lunch with him once in Toronto when he was on book tour for "Silver Surfer". I brought along my copy of "The Airtight Garage..." for signing as I was both a Moorcock and Moebius fan. I had him sign it to Jerry Cornelius and he was so amused by that that he invited me to lunch w him afterwards. Such a sweet explorer of life. And genius artist.
Moebius has influenced every major sci-fi movies since the 70's. His art, imagination and spirit will live forever!
Moebius was to comics what Queen was to pop music, an unprecedented revelation, and who inspired many to lend, steal, be inspired by his work. Been a fan since my first view of the first Metal Hurlant. Had I just kept them. Oh, regrets.
Jean Giraud was a bloody genius. His ever changing mutant style will not be surpassed for a very long time. It's as if like many illustrators were living in the same body.
Cheers from Brazil!
Les Maîtres du Temps is one of me favourite films.
Les maitres du temps?

Regardless of the Morbius jokes, this channel is really underrated for the amount of good content it puts out, definitely earned a sub!
Thank you very much!
@@ArtShutter what he said xD. Suscribed!
Pity the narrator is absolutely terrible. could only follow every 10th word as mildy sounding like an english word
@@genin69 Guess his pronunciation can improve, until then, You can turn on the perfect subtitles
Everybody loves Moebius. He had an unique ability to not restrict himself to one style, but was truly free. I wish he had lived 200 more years.
One of my favorites of all time. I owe a lot to Moebius. God bless him.
Art has evolved with us and it'll keep evolving, I love these mini documentaries about certain people.
I am glad that you like them
Moebius is one of my favorite artists!!! Seeing his artwork in the 70s magazine HEAVY METAL made me a true fan. I have some original works by him and some signed prints that are no longer available. Much love to this man from a fellow artist 💛💚💙💜
I'm American and half Japanese.
As much as I love American and Japanese comics, it's sad that European comic books and comic artists get lost in the conversation. Moebius' works are amazing.
This guy was on a level above everyone else whose skill and imagination never failed to astonish.
An incredibly talented man whose influence will be felt for many years to come. His passing is a huge loss to the world. Thank you for this tribute, you earned a sub.
I think that "The world of Edena" should have had some screentime too, it's the most personal of his many stories
Mœbius was THE genius of all time!
My favourite quote of his was "It's Mœbin time!"
Truly an inspiration to all! 😩👍
Or "I'm Mœbius".
Beautiful video! I've loved Moebius since I was a kid. Sad to think it's been ten whole years since we lost him.
I'm glad you liked the video!
❎ Morbius
✅ Mœbius
Brilliant. As I will forever avow, a single artist can exhibit 1000 times more talent than a nation of scientists!
I hope all of you making bad morbius references end up reading some of his work.
You stumbled upon one of the most unique and talented people the world has ever seen.
indeed! I am pretty sure I have seen some of his art work in my dreams!
I have been noticing pieces of Moebius across my life, through film and random unattributed images, and it wasn't until I was an adult that I could assemble them in order to understand who it was that created them. Then a few years after I finally learned the name and understood the legend the man was gone.
It's crazy to realize that it's been twelve years since he died. When an artist, especially one of his caliber, passes away from the world it is like a window to an incredible dimension has been slammed shut with the death. All we have left are the renderings of what existed there, enchanting and awe inspiring memories clinging to paper until time and age utterly wastes them.
Idk how this appeared in my recommended but it’s a nice, interesting and entertaining video. Good job!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked the video, it's good to see that there are people who like this type of content.
my favorite part was when gir morbed out and became moebius and everyone in the theaters clapped
It's Mœbin time
The moment I saw the thumbnail, I couldn’t stop thinking that this was a Morbius branded crystal…
I love him, I remember my dad showed a Heavy Metal comic. He truly was a genius
Amazing video, thx for sharing. I love the work of Moebius especially The Incal and time master’s
I'm glad you liked it!
Franco Belgian comics is for me the ultimate form of comics. Still unrivalled.
Morbius
morbius?
lol moebius :)))
8:00 " Lés Maïtrés du Temp" 🤣❤ thx for the vid !
Was born and raised on Panzer Dragoon so jeans influence has been with me my whole life. true legend.
Thank you for this excellent summary of Jean Giraud's career. He was one of a kind, as was almost the entire staff of Métal Hurlant. Those guys are responsible for the endless hours I spent reading their magazines and all the Sci-Fi stories I could get my hands on instead of doing my homework... Anyway, thank you for your hard work. It's a must see for a Sci-Fi & comics fan like me.
It's a pleasure, I'm glad you liked it!
I love it when he said morbius
There will never be anyone as good as Moebius. A true genius.
YEESSSSSSSS!!!!
IT'S MOEBIN' TIME!!!!
It's Mœbing time!
Pure genius. My biggest art inspiration. Thanks for the video!
Your welcome!
Where vampire?
In the 70s I scooped up Heavy Metal as each issue appeared. Among the artists Moebius created alien environments with many familiar details that left one with a desire to inhabit those spaces. Long Tomorrow, Incal, and The Airtight Garage of Jerry Cornelius are genius works. Thanks for this video
You're welcome, thanks for watching
Heady cool times.
Strange that you don’t have more subscribers, your videos are quite amazing.
El más grande. Amo y admiro su trabajo.
It's morbin' time
As a teenager, I did not know the names of many artists. But, I sure knew Moebius. I read his Heavy Metal comics over and over.
awesome I love his art :)
So many good and interesting things in contemporary art came from this one man, and this video really captures that.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for the comment
Very cool content! I was already a Moebius fan but it's always nice to refresh my memory. There's also been images I've never seen before. Good stuff!
Thanks, I'm glad you like the content, especially Moebius.
it's morbin time baby
Excellent! Thanks
The World Of Edena, a fine specimen of a graphic novel, to name one I purchased. The Jodorowsky-mo€bius split, The Incal, seems like it would be incredible, not to mention one short lived super adrenaline filled animation. I bought the book so if I was disappointed in anything regarding this video, so be it.
I met Moebius in a comics festival in Athens, Greece, in 1999, with "Freak Brothers" Robert Sheldon who lived in Netherlands at the time and Kaz (from SpongeBob, RAW, New Yorker etc). Nice guys all of them.
It’s funny how you see certain art and it resonates with you , only to find out the artist is interested in the same things you are.
My favorite artist. And so productive. Still don’t have all his works on the shelf.
the most replayed part 💀
Oh boy.. it's about 35 years ago I bought my first version of the incal..
Great video! Am I crazy or does The 5 Element also show a lot of Moebius style elements that are in the Harry Canyon episode of the animated film Heavy Metal? The red hair girl dressed in white needs help from a cab driver and the traffic is aerial in an urban setting. The police uniforms look like the prototype for 5th Element cops. Anyway, loved it!
He was involved in an early stage of the production designing some elements of the film
Damn I just noticed Morbius probably helped this video out by how many more views it has above average (that's NOT hate btw loved this video, might be a comic fan but also a history one!)
Ever since I came across Heavy Metal magazine in the early 1980s, I have been hooked on Moebius/Jean Giraud's work. His drawing style has been a huge inspiration to me. It's strange that his other great work: The World of Edena wasn't mentioned here. It was a huge work plus its accompanying book The Art of Edena. A truly great artist with a wonderful sense of humour and great vision and imagination.
Some time ago I uploaded a video about the world of Edena, you can take a look at it whenever you want and I would love to read your opinion in the comments.
I finally learned how to pronounce this great artist's pseudonym.

Slippy Jimmy Slipped into the infinite multiverse of moebius
Thx. Nice film.
Can definitely see his work in TFE.
Glad I found your channel! I'll watch your video on Phillipe Caza's work next

Great video, thank you for this!

I had the first Havey Matel book in America
Thank you

Ah yes the doctor Michael Moebius
The saga “Le Monde d'Edena” is for me by far his best work. Probably because my father introduced me to Moebius when I was 8 or 9 years old. I didn't really like the story (too complicated for me) but the drawings alone made me experience incredible adventures.
Jokes aside, can't wait to watch this.
We all know why RUclips recommended this to us
Very good video, well documented and concise. Although more incidence of Jodorowsky's work was missing - Moebius (Dune) and Star Wars... Since two androids (R2D2 and C3PO) were important in the plot, the image from the millennium falcon when they enter light speed and so on... although it could lead to a video on the subject Like and subscribed!
Genial genial genial 🧬🧞♂️🌐
It isn't morbin' time, it's Moebin' time!
morbious?
can anyone please tell me where i can find the painting done by milo manara near the end of your video? The giant woman on the stairs. Ive looked everywhere
It's from an erotic comic called Gullivera
the thick accent is making it hard to understand, but I'm still enjoying the content!
Has to be one of the best scenes in cinematic history when Jared Leto said "It's Mœbin time." Truly a masterpiece.
Truly Morbius.
Love this mini bio, requesting a video covering Los bros Hernandez Love and the Rockets
I am very glad that you liked the video, I will take your suggestion into account, thank you very much
are there English subtitles available for this?

The environment drawing got slight resemblance in the earlier work of Dragon Ball
Just bought signature edition and tNice tutorials tutorial I've watched a few tis. Am having a blast atm lol
Why haven't these been animated? Getting bored of cg animations and already watched popular ghibli movies, I'm looking for more unique animated movies to watch.
You know about the '80s anime movie, Dragon's Heaven?
@@ElectroKraken no
@@android118xx4 watch it the style is in mobius style like it very much .. you might get your fix its a cult classic and the creator noted Mobius a big influence.
@@android118xx4 have you seen masters of time? that’s an 80s animation designed by moebius
😎
Shi: I came here looking for the vampire guy.
Everyone was influenced by his style and they still are... It's a shame that Hollywood luminaries didn't know how to appreciate his work with Jorodowsky, to make the movie Dune
@Suebian The new remake sure isn't Dune lol...
Moebius et Franquin, les meilleurs.
