This is one of the best StarTalks just by virtue of their easy and relaxed interaction here, like old friends hanging out. I love the laughs they share and when Neil starts singing "We Are the World" I lost it completely.
I don't know if there is going to be a better time or place to ask this; I LOVE the idea of mathematical short stories. They combine two of my favourite things! Can Startalk or anyone out there recommend a book for me? I had no idea this sort of thing even existed and it has me very excited. Please respond to this if you have any ideas, I am highly interested.
We are blessed to see such intellectual people on a platform with only a few clicks. Imagine having video recordings of any of the intellectual greats of our history with such ease. What a blessing
This is literally how avengers endgame explains why they can take the stones from the past and bring them to the future and then replace them in the past like they were never gone
@jesusbermudez6775what did Columbus discover? I've only heard of the story of him 'discovering' the Americas, of which people had been visiting for centuries prior and inhabiting for quite a while as well. I didn't know he had any actual discoveries other than that illegitimate one
I've been a huge fan of you for a while neil and you played a huge role in inspiring me to pursue astrophysics when I go to college next year. Thank you for the content :)
Hey Neil, I literally just had a BackPack called "Mobius" delivered Today by TenTree, they are an organization that plants 10 trees around the world for every item purchased 😃 Just thought you might get a thrill out of the calculable chance of that phenomenon (+ they use the recycled materials of 31 bottles, reclaimed pond algae that cleans up water & recycled scraps from their factory floor to make the bag ♻️) Awesome episode, happy holidays & a wonderful New Years to you & all of the Star Talk Crew!
The coolest thing about Mobius strips: If you take two Mobius strips that have opposite chirality (ie one is twisted to the left and one to the right) and tape them together, and then cut them in half, you end up with two interlocking hearts.
Theres an infinity line running through any cube which means you can scale an image of a cube so it goes small to infinity or large to infinity. When you draw a cube there are bisecting lines you can use to draw a cube within a cube. Its similar to holding a mirror in front of a mirror, A, B, AB, O
The dynamic duo love how a Professional comedian ,And a great astrophysicist can join is such harmony ,for so long you guy are the best. Happy New years if it means anything lol.
This is the first time in all of my 24 years and seven months where I truly don't understand something, even after it was explained in a simple way, and I'm a bonafide nerd/geek. I saw how it happened but still cannot understand why.
Many years ago, when my kids were young, we were very broke. So broke that a friend lent us a pre-lit fake Christmas tree. We had no decorations at all. (The tree had only clear lights.) My kids were sad that we didn't have decorations. What I did have was a metric F ton of printer paper. We sat at the table and made Mobius strips of many, many sizes to decorate the tree. It was magnificent! One of our favorite trees! (Dad taught me about Mobius strips when I was very young, so I handed down the magic.)
You both are amazing and always inspire us to aquire more knowledge about the world around us. Please do a video on your opinion about physics shown in the movie Tenet. Happy holidays.
I'm probably not the first to mention this, but I vividly remember reading the short story "A Subway Named Mobius", by Armin Joseph, as a kid in the 70s. It's a terrific story that inspires exploratory thought in young minds.
@jesusbermudez6775 Well, different folks get excited about different things. My kid loves _both_ Science _and_ Arts & Crafts. This involves both, so it right up her alley. May your daughter find some kind of pursuit that provides fascination and joy...preferably something safe and legal, of course. 😉
This shape was named after the record breaking movie 'Morbius' which completely revolutionized movie industry forever. Truly one of the most movies humanity can ever produce.
it's morbing time
no it was named after mobius 1, who destroyed literally everyone in ace combat 4
Cool, and maybe it could be effective while fighting someone who’s closer to heaven

I don't recall ever doing this in high school Science. This is the first time I have seen an accurate real time demonstration. Thanks Neil!

A half twist.

I hate you. Lol
Best comment here 😅
Hahahahaha
“We are the world” reference was on point hilarious 😂
Repeating it like 20 times
I just realized while watching this the recycling symbol is a Mobius loop.
I just realized it after i saw your comment. Thx!
Me too. Knew that symbol was familiar via the one he painted.
wow!
♻️
mind blown
As long as I’ve been watching Neil, I still learn something new every time I watch him. Love this man.
This is the best plug of a sponsored product EVER
Remember when iron man used this shape to figure out time travel?
Owen Wilson in Loki is called Mobius
I figured it out way before him getting dressed in the morning for school as a little scamp and hastily putting on a belt, if it's _that_ mundane.
Now invert it
That’s why I clicked into this video.
Next up the Deutsch proposal and the Planck scale.
NDT..."we are the world, we are the children..."
😆😆😆😆
I'm in tears!
Love these guys!
When Neil said "It's Morbin time" my IQ increased to by 100.
RIP Tommy

a right handed glove is just a left handed glove turned inside out
Well.. your not wrong
Yeah. They're both right handed except for the left one.

I like it when they show what they are explaining because some people might have a hard time seeing it in their heads
Chuck's crafts and his enthusiasm is my new favorite thing.
It's one half science class and one half commercial for Glo Forge
Now i can understand how he figured out time travel
Lol
After seeing upside-down degree of Peter parkour
Yeah I remember that was what Tony tried in Endgame to figure out time travel! Lol!

Neil DeGrasse Tyson solves quantum entanglement, simultaneously discovering a new field of physics.

Hey Neil! Can you please make an explainer video on higher dimensional objects like the hypercube(4D cube) and hypersphere(4D sphere)👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Chuck for coloring it. It made it easier to understand it.
