- The Weedless Deep Dive Tube fly I designed to get amongst the snags, debris and fish deep. If you watch the tutorial there is some detail which is very important to increase hook-ups. These have been well tested now and miss very few pike on my home waters. The tube is very simple and loosely based on the Bauer (Niklaus Bauer) Tube. The rig is what I termed the Mono-rig, which is actually my nickname, plus I sometimes add heavy mono for the tail attachment. The shank is added to add weight and provide an eye for easy attachment, this also improves the movement.
I would expect these tied smaller would be great for coastal water fish like bass, pollack and wrasse. The tube tying is kept very simple as there as a guide. Be creative but mindful you don't impede the hook with too much bulk. If you tie it, remember a little credit goes a long way.

super interesting Paul! Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos!
Great concept! Definately going to try that out!!!
Super psyched on these weedless flies from you and GB. Awesome!
I think they are really popular because not everyone has those hooks. I found some 4, 5, and 6.0. So many of my lakes I fish are weedless but I am not a fan of weed guards so this is great
Your videos are great! Very informative. Am a self taught fly tyer and have been tying for 15 years. My focus has been mostly trout flies, 10-24. Have recently begun tying salmon, steelhead, pike and bass flies. These tutorials have greatly reduced the learning curve. You move at the perfect pace. Thank you!
That's nice to hear Jim. Good luck with your tying sir
Nice video as always. Love the out-takes…
Thanks for sharing, just subscribed!
Nice tie
Great video and good to meet you at the Fly Fair! Get over to the Cotswold Water Park! Lake 6
And you. All the best
Love THE end, bollocks ;), a great concept, makes me want to get into tubes (Which I Will)
Hi Paul, I have recently discovered your channel and am learning lots! What size is the claw hair clamp that you find most useful? Many thanks. Alan
I just borrow them from the ladies in the house. I really haven't paid too much attention on what sizes. Usually they go missing and use what I can get my hands on
Paul Monaghan . I am probably over thinking it! I have taken a punt on eBay. Really enjoying your videos. A
Really awesome Paul! The new swimbait hook should also work or what do you think?
Yes. I worked with Ahrex to develop the PR378. Though it kind of made this tube method obsolete.
@@paul_monaghan yes I know, you and Gunnar developed it with Ahrex. Absolute great this hook. Nevertheless I think using this rig with the PR378 for a weedless tube very interesting.
Really nice streamer.. How you call those orange pliers? Thx in advance!
Thank you. One step looper
@@paul_monaghan thank you...just ordered one (3 mm).
Hi Paul
Thanks a lot for the video
Can you please give me some detail of that special pliers that you use to create the round eye
Regards
Eduardo
1 step looper. I use the small and medium size
@@paul_monaghan Thanks a lot
Como se llama la pinza ( cuál es el nombre) que tiene todo el mango amarillo ??
I’m not clear on how you attach the tube to the shank and hook.
Thread the shank and hook through the tube (it will be snug). The eye of the shank should protrude for you to clip on to your trace clip.
@@paul_monaghan Thanks Paul.
swim it!
