Nothing but respect for Break. Has absolutely smashed it in the production game, his tunes are so enjoyable to admire the mixing and dynamics on a nice set of speakers or headphones.
When i'm mixing my tracks I always put a tape machine on the master bus at 15ips with just a touch of warmth. Really smooths out the top end and makes it more tamed for mastering.
@@urmumsbaps if you've spent enough time doing mixing work you should know what those things mean. I see that you haven't though. Tape machines, like all analog devices are not transparent (meaning they don't not alter the sound.) Tape machines in particular at slower speeds will often make the high end less irritating to your ears, because it dampens down the treble a bit, as well as providing a general compression to the whole track you're working on. It's a good thing to add to tracks with a some electronic material, if you want those really bright electronic sounds to blend better with other acoustic/electric instruments and whatnot.
Dunno why but almost 99% videos about mastering have really crappy sound on YT, volume to low, reverb etc. It's kinda funny really, this one is not that bad tho :D
It's called Totalyser and is dedicated analysis tool for customers of an RME audio interface. So I guess he's owning one of those audio interfaces. If you want a similar analysis tool, you may check out the metering tools that come with IK Multimedia T-RackS 5.
"More of a little bit of tickle on top of a little bit of sheen" There it is folks, for those that wanted to know the key to mastering and mixing drum and bass lol
the cam guy is literally feeling up and rubbing the mic all the way through the interview. You have the worst sound men ever. While interviewing sound men .. Its an embarrassment --
Oh Jesus! What is wrong with Break's microphone? You really couldn't place it? That noise, coming from it, drives me crazy and doesn't let me listen carefully to what what this respected gentleman is talking about(((
still going back to this years later, still finding new things every time. love it.

This guy has the same type of billy badass energy as optical and Ed Rush
man i wish i watched this years ago
so what mixer is he using now, he seems to change them a lot, and did he mention why he's opted for the small yam hs on top of the neumans ??
so i googled the mixer, mk1 or mk2 allen and heath system 8 ! nice
They're his secondary reference (kinda like NS10s), for a different, more restricted perspective on the mix.
How‘s his Analyzer on his right screen called ? He refers to it on 15:45.. :)

@@hearmenow909 I must have been high AF to miss the original reply!!! hahaha
@@producermind9030 Haha! I've done the same thing many a time, probably when blazed as well.
mans "bad mix" is better than all of mine ever ...

I've done that for years. The question is, once the sheen is there how much tickle do you apply? Tickle ratios. It's a never ending problem
Whats the name of the artist he's mastering? is it his own track?
Yep, it's Break & DLR 'No Idea': ruclips.net/video/jEJ1QG0wHi4/видео.html
Computer Music Magazine alright thank you.
look at that lag
Imagine all the psychedelic substances that went into the music that created this human being.

Most producers / musicians have trouble explaining the depths of their music.
