I always assumed Dom&Roland was two people, one of which named himself after synth hardware. As it turns out, it's one guy who decided to give his hardware extra credentials for the role it played.
So I should name myself:
Kkwazzawazzakkwaquikkwalaquaza *'? Zzabolazza & Pioneer
So did I. All these years lol
i should be called Tom&Lexicon
Same lol!
The ultra technical terms I noticed were Ditty, Boogie Box, Mojo, Bread and Butter, Flammy, Duff Note,Crunched it, Big Action! Now go and make your own DnB ;)... Big upz to Dom releasing great music since 1994!
MR_DIATRIBE 23 Don't forget "faffing about"!
"or whatever"
the man who got me into dnb .. 20 yrs ago !!
OMFUCKINGOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this all my life!!! The legend himself!
pyroghost11 i know im taking notes. Dudes a ledgen #RSPCT #Dom&Roland
Imagination still haunts me to this day , Dom is a beast!!! Great interview
Holy shit, legend in the buildinggggg
constant trailing off into unexplained tangents = definite genius
his music was the introduction to Drum n Bass for me. Still one of the best music producers to date. Strange to see he's such a nice down-to-earth guy and not arrogant at all. Sorry for the bad english and thanks for sharing! Love + Respect!
I've said hello to him at a festival a couple of times and he was quite dismissive :'D. Probably didn't want to be bothered by fan boys like myself haha. I should add, if you ever get the chance, go and see him play a b2b with Klute OMFG.
"I helped make this EQ what it is today, not in the terms of coding or anything..." Doesn't sound so down to earth there. Doesn't even name the EQ to give them free advert. Awesome producer though.
Mrs. Stanfield I've met Dom and Rob in New Orleans back in 99 and i guess because i didn't look like a clownish candy raver and wasn't chewing on a pacifier they both were real cool and friendly. Chilled on a couch drinking beers with Dom and Rob and Dara too! I HAVE THE PICTURES TO PROVE IT.
@@k.c.lejeune6613 Jesus christ I imagined that sudden jump in tone at the end as going from just a friendly casual tone of voice to fucking screaming lmao.
@@ontology3 HAHAHA sorry, i just had to stress that fact! Just taking the piss. But yes, i still have pictures, of course they were taken with a 35mm back in those days.
Dom is a legend!
Dom's a big fan of wood paneling apparently, desktop on his Mac even.
SpeedballaOne hehe,thats what i was thinking myself. :) '[⊙,.●]'
LOL!
he likes it natural :D
have an old photo of his with a different setup, homemade (in wood obv) built around a studer desk
if you look really closely he's even got his hardrives etc wood paneled. i think he's got a fetish. i bet he sleeps on wood panels in a wood panel room with wood panel pillows
Cheers Dom! It's very inspiring to see that alot of musicproduction comes down to being creative and finding your own ways of getting a good result in the end. Alot of times myself and surely others loose hope when things seem to get to technical and you doubt yourself as a producer. But recording a random sound from the tellie to create a big dark riff sound. Respect :)
Sampling the tv and making a low key dark sounding riff... That's pretty fuckin' Cool ay! Lol ...
Dom & Roland, plainly speaking, you highly impress the right people. You never get boring.
Could watch Dom all day long with how he’s explaining, refreshing.
cleanest desktop in the game
still my favorite producer.. legendary sound.. as usual
such a fuckin joy. one of the guy who woke me up in the 90s and i cut my teeth on the dance floor to much of Dom & Roland. was a fuckin treat to see him play a few weeks ago in melbourne and seeing him move a crowd of all ages. some people just keep on giving. glad you make some coin from the process and would love to see you play again soon.
Dom, this was amazing. Thank you.
2 of my favourite producers in the game. Dom and his handy Roland!
This is great - so much better than I thought it'd be (knew it'd be good, still). Dom is a classy genius.
Why this guy makes me think of an engineering professor I had ? he's so chill and efficient
Dom looks like the kinda guy i'd hate to get a bollocking from.
:D
Randomest comment ive ever seen.
smiletheory75 true tho
britishskater54 very true indeed
Depth Audio it’s an English term for getting a thorough telling off.
You can tell Dom's a real musician 16:56
beautiful
Soundwall vip was my fave drum n bass song ever made!
tuuuuuuuuuuuune!
Imagination VIP also slaps
Paradrenasite (feat. Hive) was my favorite
Heard the privelege of hearing the man himself drop it at rupture November 2019, last rave I went to, absolute behemoth of a tune, Paradox said that is his favourite Dom tune, that's some acclaim, you're in good company dude
25:00 "it's making me wanna... nod my head" xD I love you man!
finally the reason why i love your music so much has all been explained ! legend
Imagination one of my all time favourites
nice to see the legend in action. Killer Bullet is still one of my favourite tracks.
specialistsound I still have that vinyl record. Beast track.
best vid of all dnb musicians.
This man is my hero.
I've been a big fan of this guy ever since i first looked up who made some of the songs on the Midnight Club soundtrack
The music for the London stage, also my first delve into drum n bass. I haven’t fallen into the genre much itself, but I always catch myself coming back to check out more of his discography
Learned a ton. Thanks so much
Man makes me want to jump from Logic to Reaper too... seems so intuitive! Thank you Computer Music, and of course Dom!
NOOOICe one of the legend in dnb history!
I've bought a fuck ton of this guys music over the past 20 years. Legendary!
Waiting for Rob Playford to be featured..he is the original Legend producer
And Pete Parsons.
Dom, you are a great guy!
Back rewatching this and happy that I made the switch to gear over softsynths. Recording a sample from both a mic'd cabinet and blending with direct out from a tube preamp has so much more of an impact!
Good luck finishing any music lol
@@WillyJunior what do you do and how? and showcase me a multitude of genius works to critique...
I reversed a recording of water dripping into a bucket and sliced it up to be hihats on a track... time and shooting for something is worthwhile!
haha, looked you up and NO UPLOADS... SO SHUT UP!
Seems like an earlier Version of "Sirens Song" from the latest album "Last Refuge of a Scroundrel"
thank you for uploading this, very usefull, that helped me a lot
Legend
He made my... day? No! He made my life!
They actually let a camera crew into the psych ward to film Dom?

big fan since 2008.
that was amazing .. also completely flabbergasted I did not know about action lists in Reaper
28:08 I always set my reefer up when making music too
Literally the most helpful video I have ever seen for me personally. Fucking unreal!!! I'm sure any techno or drum n bass producer will get so much from this vid. THANK YOU !!!!
Never seen Reaper look like, or be able to do this kind of stuff.
Hey you ever use the volca sample or volca fm?
Great watch, very nice fellow. Have been a fan for ages. He should pay attention to his sitting working position...
Thank you, Big Up!!

First heard him on Midnight Club (1). So glad I did ^_^

I only see dom. Where is roland? Lol
theonecalledpotato Dom strangled him and absorbed his soul
He's right you know.
Interview should have been done with Roland alone.
Dom and Reason
Dom doesn't want to release him from his hidden sex dungeon.
Hasnt gone pop no compromise what a legend
Mad Skills

@@greedokenobi3855 😁😇
Genius....nuff said.
What is the track??? Great piano part!!!
would really put you off thanks dom
Dom & Macbook
Yeah, Reaper! It's sick when it comes to audio editing :).
Dom & Reaper. Legend! I used to use Sonic Foundry Acid back in 2000-2002 for my DnB stuff, Reaper looks to be the modern alternative...
That eventide reach almost 3k£

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! DOES ANYONE KNOW THE TRACK TITLE ? THE DARK INTRO SOUNDS OUT OF THIS WORLD AND REALLY WANT TO HEAR HOW THE FULL TRACK SOUNDS.

2 min in, already solid advice
Mind feeders my favourite tune
@5:30 killer beat
What's the track?
big up D and R...
Does anyone know the name of the track which Dom & Roland was producing in this video?
Ive gone through his bandcamp and apple music, sadly i couldnt find it anywhere.. It sucks cus this track sounds amazing
No matter how i pitch the original break, i cant seem to get it to sound like d+r in this video. Pitch wise i mean.
Is he just straight pitching it up or is there some pitch correction going on.
Not using reaper, using cubase, spent hours tryin different things bit it just doesn't sounds the same
It's more than just pitching. There's eq and compression also.
please get Calibre next
YES.
No way he'll do it
Where can I buy that EQ?
anyone know the drum break hes used at 5.07 and throughout the tune?
