the gamecube was such a weird, artsy era and the commercials reflect it perfectly. it’s no wonder i’m the way i am now when this is the time period i grew up in lmao
I have had 3 different friends who offered to play Mario Party 7 with me, only to discover their disc was broken. 3 seperate times, 3 completely different friends, all of them with a broken disc of Mario Party 7. I will truly never know if it is any good.
Just wanna say I love these Peebs videos. They’ve been a major comfort this past few months for me and I appreciate PBG and Toasty working so hard to make them so fun!
LMAO okay the double dash commercial was funny, and YES i miss having two characters, i liked being in the back and throwing items when i played with someone else
9:24 oml. Geist was one of those obscure GC games I played as a kid. I remember one of my cousins owned the game and we would just puts hours into the multiplayer and somewhat into the story. Man that unlocked an old memory for me
It might not be the most popular one, but I loved Mario Party 7 so much! It's definitely my favorite, all the boards were so interesting and it had some great minigames
8:22 that is actually the one I grew up with😅 Its pretty fun tbh, I think it's not talked much about because you got the new ones, the ones people hate, and then the heavy nostalgic ones so 7 kinda gets brushed off
Mario Party 7 I enjoyed, especially after Mario Party 6 got a disc scratch so bad it stopped working for me. Now costs over $100 for a replacement copy. But they both share the orb mechanic which I enjoyed immensely. Kept the boards fresh each time you play, added personal flair to everyone's turns tiptoeing around your spaces, and another strategy to use your coins besides stars.
1:14 - 1:45 "We need a commercial for the new Mario game. Any ideas?" "How about a guy in a red room tries to make a move on a goth girl, sees she's wearing some kind of cube necklace, and starts screaming in terror." "GENIUS!"
Felt proud of calling Geist before the title card came up. That unlocked a memory. lol. Everybody was swearing up and down it was the new bestest FPS when it came out and then it proceeded to just evaporate into the annals of history like so many "yo, this is the new greatest FPS" games have before and after it. Anybody remember Black for PS2? No? Funny, that was also supposed to be the new greatest FPS ever. lol. Time makes fools of us all.
I think the guy with the long hair driving the golf cart in the Double Dash commercial also played a recurring role of Harris Trinsky in the Critically acclaimed tv show Freaks and Geeks, which came out around that time.
Geist was a western-developed game that was published by Nintendo. It was a first person shooter where you played as a ghost who could possess objects, animals, and people. Nintendo wanted this to be their Halo-killer, but it ended up being a pretty meh shooter that had some interesting but poorly executed ideas.
@@rescuerex7031 There's certainly parts of it that I like, as some of the puzzles are pretty cool. But the actual shooter gameplay I found to be pretty generic. Granted, I'm not huge on shooters to begin with (love me some TimeSplitters though) and am not huge on Halo either, but I found Geist to be particularly awkward. It has been quite a while since I've played it, so maybe my opinion would change if I played it now... But it's definitely not the Halo killer Nintendo wanted it to be.
I literally just finished playing Star Fox Adventure XD It was a bucket list game to finish from my childhood, and is it the best game? No... did I thoroughly enjoy it? Yep!
That Star Fox is the only one I've ever played, so YES PEEBS people played it... and it did not awaken something in me, but I'm sure it did for many people lol.
I love how "Everyone hated Star Fox Adventures" is a lie so deeply ingrained into the internet's subconscious that now people forget that it actually sold super well.
PBG: Has anyone ever even played this Starfox game? Me: It is actually my favorite Starfox game. it is pretty much Starfox mixed with Legend of Zelda, and it was also created by Rare.
Translation for the commercial on minute 11:00 Bald guy: "Every year I keep losing at Mario Party. But I went through a special training so I'm not the same as before!" Kid: "Hey! All mini-games from this year's Mario Party are completely new!" Bald guy: "Completely new?" *proceeds to pee his pants* Kid: "And it also includes a microphone!" Bald guy: "A microphone?" Narrator: "Mario Party 6" Bald guy: "I won!"
Mario Party 7 is my absolute favorite almost exclusively for its 8 player mode. I love getting together 7 friends and having a blast with full human 8 player games
Been watching since i was 15 and im 18 now, im glad to say peebs was part of my teen years, thanks for the amazing content all these years, keep up the amazing content peanutbuttergamer.
The dark commercials are super weird, but I was also very confused by how Eternal Darkness, which is SUPPOSED to be dark but is about eldritch horror, not like... SAW or something.
Peebs discovers the answer to the internet's F-Zero woes. "Oh man this game was great, I never owned it though." Multiply that by... most people who wonder why Nintendo never made another one, then divide by the astronomical sales Mario Kart does consistently and you have your answer.
Mario Party 7 is like Mario Party 6 but Bowser instead of day cycle, Lucky Duel instead of fixed wagers and Chance Time, more consequential orbs, and a justification for a character Tier list outside of CPU.
Mario Party 7 is one of the best Mario games of all time. I am absolutely willing to die on that hill. It had fantastic games like Fun Run, Pokey Pummel... It had some of the best duel mini-games. It had mic mini-games you could exploit for tons of money! The Bowser mini-games were great too.
I saw the Mario Party 6 one on RUclips. Either Bowser was surprisingly a good sport about those pranks, or his reactions were so violent they had to cut those scenes off for the commercial?
Weird thing to notice but the young guy driving the old lady in the airport during the double dash commercial is from “Freaks & Geeks” which is an underrated gem of a show and way before it’s time.
Okay, here's that Mario Party Commercial translated for you Starting at 11:00 "Every year, I lose at Mario Party but this year is FINALLY gonna be different." new kid appears "Hey, they're making a new Mario Party with ALL BRAND NEW MINIGAMES!" bald kid winces "ALL NEW MINIGAMES??" "And it comes with a microphone!" "MICROPHONE??" makes pee pee face and shrinks back to the wall So to answer your question that you really wanted answered Peebs "Microphone"
I remember the Double Dash, Baseball and Mario Party commercials, but I don't remember the others lol. I also don't know if I've ever seen those Mario Sunshine commercials. It used to be a game that grabbed my attention, but I don't know why lol. I remember it was one of the main reason I wanted a Gamecube and tried it and then stopped playing lol.
HOLD UP I gotta jump back in and say YES Starfox Adventures was so fun! I know a lot of people don't like it, but I loved it as a kid because Star Fox + Dinosaurs
I have to say, I normally am not much of a fan of old game commercial videos because they usually focus on just American commercials and presume a greater collaboration with the company than really exists (Nintendo almost certainly just hired an advertisement agency and gave little oversight). But I liked how you really mixed it up with more international commercials to balance it out.
Happy Feet, Wombo Combo… that ain’t Falco… Oh oh oh oh oh my god. Where you at? Where you at? Where you at? Oh my god, WOMBO COMBO! Get your ass whooped!
Man I miss old nintendo commercials 🤣. I played star fox , and probably one of the only people who actually liked it also I wish they would bring double dash again
I'm the only person I know who has played Geist. Pretty solid multiplayer (not online obviously), but I remember the campaign being present fun. It's an FPS where you play as a ghost and can possess people, but first you had to solve puzzles to scare people enough so that they are more susceptible to possession. Cool concept, pretty decent execution.
GASP Peebs! Mario Party 7 has always been my favorite, I'm probably biased as it came out when I was a kid, but I love the boards and minigames of 7 the most
4, 6, and 7 are my top 3 Mario Party games, to give you a general idea. What especially set 7 apart from the others was that it made minigames where two people could share a controller, allowing for 8 players to do minigames together.
Why do we have an era of game commercials that don't actually show the game? Box art did this a bit, too, like when Final Fantasy Tactics had nothing on the cover but a sword. "Oooh, a girl crying and blank cover art. These are the games I want to play!"
Cleaner is literally neater than dirty, but dirty is more fun than clean because otherwise Mario Sunshine wouldn’t be a game. This is just my stupid high take on the situation
What was your favorite gamecube commercial?
I'm partial to the Animal Crossing costume ones. (Big surprise by the thumbnail.)
Mario sunshine mostly
And wind waker
The ending corrumical 😂
Liked the Double Dash commercial!
the sonic adventure 2 commercial because its funny to see a man yelling at an actual hedgehog lolol and the animal crossing commieral
the gamecube was such a weird, artsy era and the commercials reflect it perfectly. it’s no wonder i’m the way i am now when this is the time period i grew up in lmao
😆its so weird
The intro is so chaotic and I'm here for it-
TRUE LOL
SAME
if only it wasn't repeated again later in the video, dampening its effect
These gamecube commercials are weird but they're also very nostalgic for me. I remember seeing them on tv all the time.
I think for the last one, they just took someone who lost a loved one to heroine addiction and went "look how much he likes metroid prime 2!"
Echoes, rated t for teen
Just say no to Metroid prime 2, guys
Ah yes, the all too common addiction to female protagonists...
@@Bubbabyte99 lmao nice

The Pikmin 2 commercial lives rent free in my head to this very day, and I'm sad it didn't show up here.
Man guys, don't you want to buy metroid prime after seeing someone crying because their loved one plays it too much
9:24 oml. Geist was one of those obscure GC games I played as a kid. I remember one of my cousins owned the game and we would just puts hours into the multiplayer and somewhat into the story. Man that unlocked an old memory for me
I love that Bowser costume, he is indeed very chonky and I love it.
he didn't say chonky, he said janky
Just made my day again peebs. You never fail. Thanks peebs!!!!
It might not be the most popular one, but I loved Mario Party 7 so much! It's definitely my favorite, all the boards were so interesting and it had some great minigames

That Mario Superstar Baseball commercial has got to be one of my favorite video game commercials of all time. The timing in it is excellent.
I think the guy with the long hair driving the golf cart in the Double Dash commercial also played a recurring role of Harris Trinsky in the Critically acclaimed tv show Freaks and Geeks, which came out around that time.
Dude Geist is such a good game, it's basically an FPS but you have ghost powers and stuff
The guy getting hit with the shell in the first like 10 seconds jumpscared me lol;;
Even after all these years, the Hotel Mario stuff still kills me every time.
This was hilarious 😂
This style of commercial brings back so much nostalgia but I'm so happy to leave it in the past 🤣
Nintendo now: Happy, bright, colourful commercials
Nintendo in the early to mid 2000's: What if David Fincher and Terry Gilliam made our commercials?
Geist was a western-developed game that was published by Nintendo. It was a first person shooter where you played as a ghost who could possess objects, animals, and people. Nintendo wanted this to be their Halo-killer, but it ended up being a pretty meh shooter that had some interesting but poorly executed ideas.
Geist is such a good game, not at all meh, isn't equivalent to Halo at all since it's not really competitive but it's great
@@rescuerex7031 There's certainly parts of it that I like, as some of the puzzles are pretty cool. But the actual shooter gameplay I found to be pretty generic. Comedy gold
PBG: Has anyone ever even played this Starfox game?
Me: It is actually my favorite Starfox game. it is pretty much Starfox mixed with Legend of Zelda, and it was also created by Rare.
6:17 something about this gef sequence with the weird Hotel Mario music is just hilarious on its own.
Rouge Leader was lit. There's a reason Star Wars Squadron was so hype.
Those animal crossing human costumes are going to haunt me in my nightmares 💀

Oh, God...
Roasting was a Thing in the Gamecube days...
I refuse to have ads anywhere in my entertainment but let one of my favourite RUclipsrs upload a video about weird commercials and im on it 😂😂
wow i'm actually excited to watch commercials 🤣

I call you “Peebington J. Sour”
Happy 20th Anniversary Star Fox Adventures and yes I played it when it was first released on September 23 2002 in North America at 2:18.
The sonic heroes commercial with all the old super heroes always cracked me up as a kid.
Rouge Leader ROCKS. Big fan of the Tie Hunter!
Mario Party 7 is my absolute favorite almost exclusively for its 8 player mode. I love getting together 7 friends and having a blast with full human 8 player games
The only things Pikmin awakens in people is 1) anxiety and 2) a desire to have a garden.

Mario Party 7 has underrated boards with brutal Bowser spaces and mini games. Still a childhood favorite

Mario Party 7 is basically Mario Party 6 except on a boat.
my sis and i grew up on MP7 and later MP4, 7 is probably our favorite mario party because we have so many memories of the fantastic maps and minigames
That last one is legit. My partner didn’t see me for a month when Mario Odyssey came out
Mario Party 7 is like Mario Party 6 but Bowser instead of day cycle, Lucky Duel instead of fixed wagers and Chance Time, more consequential orbs, and a justification for a character Tier list outside of CPU.
