A slight amendment : Speed Demon is great for bigger and slower vehicles since they won't be as sluggish as without the perk and increased max speed for fast cars can be controlled just fine with cruise control
Didn't even know about cruise control but damn that trait makes a difference when hauling cargo with the vans on large distances. The sound part is not even an issue, since I mostly clear the roads before going.
Yeah, also add the fact that it's easier to off-road and ride through hordes if you get swarmed. Even more so when you get swarmed off-road. The exact same reason why Sunday Driver is so bad - if you get swarmed in a bad car and off-road, you're as good as dead, not even reverse driving will save you.
Personal taste. Sometimes is better to have 18 capacity and chance to kill zombies with 1 tap instead of 2 taps. +40% damage over strength modifier is huge difference. But... Why not take both? Huh
I have to say it because people always underestimate keen hearing Yes, being more aware of your surroundings can save those 6 points But given that zomboid is a slow roll game that takes a while to get powerful and takes a picosecond to get dead, its easy to lose concentration for a fraction of that picosecond and find one of your neighbors tapping on your shoulder with their teeth I love it as an emergency backup that saves runs when you are caught lacking
this is very true. sure, if you "just pay attention to your surroundings" then you can get away with not taking it, but especially in the long run, it only takes one mistake to end your game, do you really think you won't mess up once in a 100+ hour run? the trait gives you so much more time to react when you do inevitably mess up and has saved me personally many times especially since i mostly play late in the evening after work and im tired/not as sharp as if i was freshly rested and on my a-game.
Even on default loot settings, I really notice when I don't take Lucky. You have to consider how many containers you're looting from in a single run. Even if the chance at finding something is only 1%, increasing that to 1.1% changes it from a 1-in-100 to a 1-in-90. Across the hundreds of containers you're going to loot through, even in just your first week (because zombies count) it's going to add up, and will continue to add up, over time.
Speed demon is incredibly good when you need to tow heavy cargo, or your car is surrounded and your have to push through a horde. For all the newbies that want to pick it: Drive calmly during the first time you travel a road to memorize the obstacles. If you find a highway with 0 obstacles or you got rid of them, then you can go faster, but keep in mind that if you crash into zombies the will damage you car the faster you crash into them
Speed demon is worth taking when you focus your gameplay around cars (especially when you have a mod for reinforcing cars with body armor) because towing other vehicles or even bigger trailers is much more effective.
In inconspicuous' defense, if you need to draw out hordes crouch and press q, you'll whisper instead of about and it'll draw a manageable amount to you
In my experience with loot drops, the game is actually evil. Every time i go gun build i find no guns only axes, every time i go ax build i only find guns and crowbars, burglar build I find more car keys than I've ever seen in my life before lmao
Cat's eyes also slightly increases your field of view during the day, and massively increases it at night, in addition to making it brighter. Super nice use of 2 points considering that even with a flashlight, looting big buildings late game is difficult due to the darkness. Eagle eyed only increases your FOV during the day, making the 6 point cost of it even less worthwhile. I think you're confusing graceful and clumsy with conspicuous and inconspicuous, but I still agree with you. Vision based stealth sucks at the moment, and only sound based is decent. Though a dead zombie is always better than sneaking past one, the reduced trip chance is what makes graceful worthwhile if you find yourself in bad situations, but you can just avoid being in bad positions. For 2 points, clumsy is terrible, but if you take things slow and never fast vault fences then it's free I suppose. Low Thirst/Light Eater are great QoL traits, I try to grab at least light eater, since that means your well-fed moodles last longer, and water is plentiful in sinks.
Eagle eye however is a rather nice bonus with STRONG applications in general daily stuff. Looting? Larger FoV to clear the FoW obscurity is great to spot zeds easier or just have some basic idea of what's around and won't stay visible when out of the FoV (Cars, some loot, foraged items). Combat? Higher FoV means your periodic 360 scans are more effective, and if you clearing a rather large horde, it's better to HAVE good sight of the horde overall than risk getting slowly encircled by the horde itself due to poor position management as you herd that large of a number. Scouting? Larger FoV, and the somewhat faster reveal speed make for great ways to do some recon in a city or building you are SURE will have some dense zed count, also helps if you wish to find cars or other stuff. Cat eyes has minimal general benefits, with a good specialty perk (Easier Night/Darkness movement), it's best use is to make dark areas easier to handle if you need to cross them with limited capacity to light the path, or if the extra narrow FoV without it bothers you
Ngl I once died cause I abandoned my nice slow van for a faster one that can carry more and it became my downfall when I crashed the damn thing and a zombie got me while I was trying to back it up
Great points overall. I'm a sucker for Speed Demon because I'm selectively impatient when towing or traveling between towns, but my builds usually are left with a singular free point anyway. It's worth noting; -Light Eater also makes it somewhat harder to gain weight, easier to lose it because eating less often. -Nutritionist is easily mitigated by metagame knowledge since the exact numbers are kinda not worth fusssing over. Fish/meat/butter to gain weight, veggies/fruits/etc. to lose it. -(Amateur) Mechanic does rely sort of on either RNG, or how stubborn you are. Every spawning town has a library/book store which is more or less guaranteed to have at least one car manual. -Athletic/Strong technically helps conserves food/water/weapon supplies as you won't have to exercise whatsoever and you'll obviously deal more damage with less swings. It also just helps get more stuff done quicker in the early game. Also, Underweight is the only negative weight that lets you keep both of these stat bonuses.
Great job on the video. extremely helpful. i had already known to pick certain negatives to gain points (like slow reader), but you made picking other negatives understandable. i'll be a lot better at surviving when my current character dies.
16:30 I pick high thirst and organized. these balance eathother. if you have a big bag you increse it from 27 to 35 (or 36 if you find militairy bag) This is +7 extra. if you pick high thist I generally bring/keep 5 water bottles spare with me. so thats 5x0.8 so thats 4 so you even gain a little bit. yes you still have to find the big bag or militairy bag but eventually you will find a few and then its free. Also the increse in all containers is no nice. 100 space for a metal crate. Having 200+ space in trucks etc etc. Also a very big thing is fanny packs get + 1 so its 2 spaces. I love fanny packs and you can store a lot more medical items etc etc or some small snacks. 1 space for each (you can wear 2) isnt that usefull but 4 spaces is very usefull. Also you can put a gascan or something in it. I also love fanny packs for inventory management since you cant really change the order (yes you can but you cant coustemize it) so fanny packs are great for me to keep random small items from the big list in my main bag what makes it easier to find stuff....
Thank you so much! I'm really enjoying making content for you all and hearing such great feedback is super motivating! I'm glad you're enjoying the content!
You make great quality videos on this underrated amazing game. Thank you, I do however feel the need to mention that every +1 trait such as Baseball player, Gymnast etc give a large xp boost of +75% which does stack with XP Books and fast learner Since Nimble is a pain in the arse to level it makes Gymnast so beneficial for any non Burglar or police officer survivors. Whilst Graceful is still nice because sound based stealth is better than visual stealth. But overall you made a very quality video. Please keep it up! :)
Interesting opinions on the traits, and good info. I prefer to take Out of Shape and Feeble, play careful til I get a stockpile of food in an impenetrable second story, and just grind out exercise, but I can see how other builds may work short term.

COMPLETELY WRONG... sunday driver is one of the worst traits in the entire game... if you take it you will never be able to drive large trucks/vans or you cant drive over grass EVER due to not ever being able to get enough speed to do so... in other words if you ever plan on using something bigger than a normal car do NOT take sunday driver... and even if you are only planning on using cars and not trucks ect your still screwed if your surrounded by zombies cus you wont have the power to drive thru them.
Jeah Fitness level is a very long trip but i had once lvl 6 fitness from 0 after 3 months. its quite a sucsess :P Than i died on raw fish because doesnt saw last tick wasnt done on the fire... Strengh is about 3 times faster to grind: why? Pushing gains 3xp and you get random xp ticks while moving arround with more than 50% carry capazity filled (and 1xp for a meele hit to a Zed) Fitness on the other hand you only get 1xp per hit and push and (im not sure) very few while running. You can easy test it with lvl 0 fitness Strengh usually youre 1 lvl ahead in stengh. thats why 0 Strengh can be dealed after about 1,5 Months to lvl 5. Hunters best Buff is +1 to short blade skill: Youre playing with MultiHit i asume so you dont know the strong side of short blade high lvl. (with lvl 10 you can 2 hit Zeds with a weapon that cost so few stamina you can practicly kill zeds until you get tired without a rest even with lvl 3 fitness) and the jobs that have short blade skill arent the best.
You would only take Hunter trait for a character that wants to use guns but dont wanna be a police officer for some reason. Trapping and sneaking are meh skills. Shortblade is a grade sidearm to guns and makes the most sense - as they are light and dont consume a lot of stamina. You can compensate hunter by taking traits that nuke your physical stats, preferably athletics over strength.
In my opinion fast reader is an underrated trait in single player. Even if you speed up time to effectively read faster. That doesn't necessarily mean the time didn't pass. In other words. Speeding up time to read faster is technically wasting a certain amount of time without fast reader. Also not everyone knows how to speed up time and not everyone who knows how to speed up time does it. Also from my understanding. Speeding up time might be partly glitched for certain things. As an example. If you speed up time while watching tv for free experience then you get less experience than you should have gained from it (I found out from a video on RUclips. I don't know if this was patched or not)
Glad you got into PZ! Project Zomboid is inherently a Sandbox game and is meant to be played the way that you want to. How you play will come with time so, if you are looking for a few starter traits, I'd be happy to help you out :). Play around with these and see which one's you like and don't like, and you can go from there. In terms of the negatives, these are pretty much all the standard ones most people pick. Negatives: Underweight, Slow Reader (if singleplayer), Slow Healer, Conspicuous, Prone to Illness, Smoker, Weak Stomach, Short Sighted Positives: Dextrous, Outdoorsman, Organized, Strong, You will be left with 5 points so you can pick a trait you like the look of :)
I'm surprised there's no skill called Bloodlust, Bloodthirsty, Violent or Temper, that improves & preserves your attack from panic, with increased hunger rate or something.
No. Desensitized makes you unable to pick ANY panic related trait (Brave and Adrenaline Junkie for positives; the Claustrophobic, Ahoraphobic, Blood phobia and coward for negatives). The cost however for it as part of Veteran is too much for minimal gains if you playing in ways that invite lots of Panic. A single month of periodic Panic inducing moments in your routine is enough to make your PC develop a strong enough resistance to Panic that even the negative traits that INDUCE super high Panic moodle increase if triggered (the Claustrophobia or Agoraphobia for example) are made moot because the Panic reduction rate will exceed any panic gain outside engaging REALLY large hordes for REALLY long periods of time.
A few opinions: -Garderner is not worth... AT ALL. You put Farmer occupation at F tier in your previous video, come on.... you know yourself how useless the farming skill is. Sure, roleplaying in MP works wonders, but roleplaying can goes for anything, even Deaf. The worst that can happens is you lose some plants due to unknown disease.... but just plant them one tile from eachother so disease not spread. (well, farming gives you crops for bait in trapping, so that's a benefit... but that's the "farming" act in itself, not the skill. If only the skill make crop grow faster or gives much more yields...) -Light Eater is a good quality of life bonus... yes. But in my experience with this trait... (even without this trait) I just ends up over-eating because I was constantly losing weight because I don't eat enough calories (remember how I said Gardener is not worth? Crops also gives low calories, so you can't just stick with farming alone. Fishing and trapping will be your main calories source.)... food are all over the place, even with low spawn setting. "food supply run" only happens when you realize you are underweight and you need 3 more cereal boxes, or butter sticks. -No, Amateur mechanics won't serve you well on extended playthrough... Because unless you are too unlucky to not get any car manual... leveling it is not too hard(without manuals you can still takes off the lights and radio).... I guess it can be another way to rush hotwiring cars....(if your spawn town don't have VHS store for the Carzone VHS). I think it's a good trait, but not fit for long playthrough, because default "Rare" car spawn will still provides you lots of cars before repairing them becomes a problem. I also wants to ramble a bit.... Graceful is... kinda overrated, and you can change the way you play to adapt to it, I understand... but the ability to just not think about it, and run-vault through a fence, knowing that I won't fall over, is such a good quality bonus to me... I always take Lucky, sure. But... that "10%" I feel like Eagle Eyes should make you FoV like... 190° or something around that... Have you ever try to focus on your real life FoV? Just try it now... does it feels like more than 180° to you? Why tf does "Brawler" gives bonus to Axe skill? Please, enlighten me, why can't it be Short Blunt? I guess the dev just can't think of a trait that gives Axe bonus so they just throw it in Brawler.... but Spear don't have any trait to boost. And congratulation, I guess your got your christmas gift too early.

Great video, helpful info but please cut make on the over use of that whipping sound for like half of your onscreen text pop ups =/
Hey! Thanks for the feedback on that, I'll reduce them in the next video :)
nice little video pal
Thanks! Wasn't quite so little to edit though haha
Yeah I realized after I commented it might have come across like a bad thing. Your editing is seriously impressive@@ProjectTweak

Hi, I'm new player and i don't know anything about the game. Can you list best good and bad traits for me to start? (i selected bulgrar profession)
Negatives: Underweight, Slow Reader (if singleplayer), Slow Healer, Conspicuous, Prone to Illness, Smoker, Weak Stomach, Short Sighted
Positives: Dextrous, Outdoorsman, Organized, Strong,
You will be left with 5 points so you can pick a trait you like the look of :)
Good video except for the multi hit activated (lol)
Lol
I think inconspicuous is good in multiplayer, zombies will target your friends more often than you lol
I like using cat eyes and eagle eyes together
Subbed liked an hoping you make it to a thousands subs love the content bro
Thanks man!
How do you enable the ability to see the specifics of abilities in zomboid? Im new
You can do that by downloading the More Descriptions for traits mod on the workshop!
I'm surprised there's no skill called Bloodlust, Bloodthirsty, Violent or Temper, that improves & preserves your attack from panic, with increased hunger rate or something.
Also spiteful or hateful, like zombies ate your loved one, and you hunt them for fun or revenge, but work up more or an appetite or thirst.
Why would you pick thick skinned or fast healer if you are not planning to be hurt?.
Great content :)
Thank you!
Why doesn’t anyone ever talk about the foraging bonuses from certain perks?
Is foraging even useful? (Just asking because I don't use it at all)
You can find pretty much anything from Foraging so yeah it can be quite useful! It's also not a difficult skill to level
@@ProjectTweak Interesting. I might try it when my friends stop needing a bodyguard 24/7 in our server
Do Brave and Veteran stack?
Off to start with an oof.... OOF
Ask for 1000 subs for end of the year gets 1100 in under 12 hours of upload what a chad
Lol was genuinely not expecting that, at all! Evidently I've been good this year and Santa came early lol
former scout should never be picked, its not even situational. that 1 level isnt gonna make a differance, and foraging is the easiest skill to level.
Not too much use for guides like these since all of the traits are getting reworks in build 42 which is *probably* coming out soonish, maybe
LOL yeah right. Gonna respond to this comment again in 6 months if 42 still isn’t out and laugh
It is 3am and I don't even own the game. Why am I here?
Sorry can’t hear your speed demon slander I’m too busy blasting down the road at 120mph
I hate how there's only some subtitles. Makes it low-key distracting as heck
Yeah i know, thats why I stopped using them for the most part in my later videos :)
cool video but i dont like the huge subtitles
Thanks for the feedback! I'll reduce their size a bit :)
Hello there
Who paid you to advocate for "low thirst"?!
Shhh, I'm not allowed to say
A few opinions:
-Garderner is not worth... If only the skill make crop grow faster or gives much more yields...)
-Light Eater is a good quality of life bonus...
But... that "10%"
I feel like Eagle Eyes should make you FoV like...
