Really grateful for the work of the women of Sex Matters. I'm an Australian in Sydney and things are dire here. I hope we can connect with UK feminists more and more to fight back. Keep up the great work Jo and Maya.

In Sydney most of the population could go a long time without hearing a single thing about this. I don't know what's happening. I assume I'd be surprised at how bad.

Really important points towards the end about safeguarding and meeting the needs of groups vs. 'case by case' risk assessment. 'Case by case' means the potential is there to get it wrong every single time a decision is made, for every single risk assessed individual. And it pushes the decision making process onto frontline staff who are likely to be working under immense pressure. Unlike people whose job it is to create policy, assessing these kinds of risks is just a small part of the role of front line staff. It's a terrifying responsibility to place on workers who have very little power, control, or even time to do a decent job. 'Case by case' is an abdication of responsibility by policy makers.

Its bad enough being in a cell or wing with "male bodied" sexual offenders but the environment in itself dictates that women should not be forced to share such spaces with men regardless of the offence. A male prison officer does not share the dining area, toilets ,showers and cells with the inmates so the dynamics with them are totally different. Bear in mind the policies put in place did not refer to any female representative groups when they were conceived. When that cell door slams shut no women in their right mind would or should feel save under such circumstances.

I sincerely hope there is a reckoning, ultimately, whereby all the cowardly administrators in HE and the Civil Service are held to account for their refusal to stand up for truth and due process. The batshit activists - as Helen Joyce says - need to be sidelined and ignored, and sensible people like Sex Matters and the LGB Alliance need to speak directly to legislators (and thereby also to the 90% of the public who would find this abhorrent) to convince them of the multiple dangers of gender-identity ideology. Academic freedom is only one strand in this battle, but it's an important one, because public policy and political parties are influenced by the assumption that academic research and its reputation is grounded in material reality. Let ideologues convince legislators otherwise and the consequences for everyone are extremely bleak.

It’s even worse for those women who can’t even afford to pursue the process. I feel unemployable at this point, purely for speaking up for women and girls
