- In 1989, Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood came together to record their first collaborative effort since The Move's "My Marge", which appeared at the end of their 1971 album Message from the Country. The results were two tracks: "Me and You" and "Get What You Want".
From Roy Wood regarding the tracks (August 1994):
"At the time I was staying at his house socially and we were just messing around. I played him this idea for a song that I'd had which eventually ended up as a song called Me And You. I played him the tune for the verse and all that. He said, 'Well, I'll throw a few bits in.' And we ended up writing it together and recording it. It turned out well. He also had a guy staying with him named Richard Dodd who recorded the Traveling Wilburys and he's a great engineer. It turned out well and we stayed up one night and wrote another song that we thought we could do as a single and stick it on the B-side. It was called Get What You Want. Me And You is an out-and-out pop song and Get What You Want sounds like an old skiffle number."
Wood was also quoted in December 2009 as intending to release the song:
"Some years ago I recorded a track with my old mate Jeff Lynne, and I’m hoping to include it on a new compilation I’d like to put together next year."
However, the song never made it onto the compilation, which was eventually released as Music Book in 2011. However, the two tracks are rumored to exist on rare CD's with early tracklists of the compilation.
Until this unreleased gem finally sees the light of day in truly high quality, this is our restoration of the track. Someone once told me that you can't do hardly anything with an MP3 file, but this one turned out pretty well. Enjoy!
We must not forget Roy Wood. He is sometimes overlooked. He is special. Just like Jeff.
alaan burge................lets not get carried away. There are and is and never will be again, anyone like Jeff Lynne!
Or Roy Wood.
Word.
Ironically, when ELO first appeared, it was Wood who got all the critical attention. He was better known then, and ELO was seen as his project.
@@VinceScaglioneRemember no Roy Wood no Jeff Lynne he was going nowhere till he join the move Roy Wood left him the ELO NAME and group and Don Arden.
I would like to hear more collaborations with both of them together.
Roy and Jeff are two of the best singers and musicians we have ever had.Long may they continue. I love them both.💕💕
These lads are our modern day shakespeares beautiful stories frome our mid counties but don't forget uncle Noddy these lads made a backdrop to my life wonderful music and fabulous stories thank you for your music
This is awesome. Two clever talented men together. Their friendship and history is also amazing. I love this song. Fantastic.
They should release this track, as it sounds great!
Man, if these guys had done an album together it would have been epic. This is such a great song. To the best of my knowledge they're still friends, and I think that's great.
They did do an album together the first ELO album
@@anthonybutler6365 ......not to mention a couple of Move albums - Looking On and Message From The Country
Chewn, absolute chewn, that guitar riff is embedded in my soul now, thanks lads x
Wow, a good song, how come I never heard of it?
It was never released officially, but fortunately for us it snuck out on bootlegs.
Roy Wood and Jeff great songwriters
Very much like the pop-end of ELO; from about the early 1980's onwards
What a great track both genius in music.
Enjoyed that.👍
Roy was on the second Electric Light Orchestra album. He wasn't credited, but the remastered CD box set liner notes confirm this.
Somehow, some way, these two need to get together for at least one more song. They are too good together and we need it. ❤
They recorded a song together in 1981 I think but didn't release its called me and you and is on you tube
@@johnatkinson7126 heard it.
Soooo ELO, you can hear hints of his ELO amazing songs techniques.
Shame they haven't released this, hope they do one day
Jeff and Roy are two musical mad men
I can hear the freedom of life in this song 🤔🎸💡🎻
Lovely Sound!! looking forward to listen your restoration of the double edition of "Time"😃
The video was copyright blocked, but we're working on fixing it! Reuploading later today...

Wizzard and ELO production!! Should have been released. Roy Wood's later material snubbed but I remember hearing Helicopters on Radio 1. Great memories. Jeff Lynne can do no wrong.
I love Roy and i love Jeff, separately and together. Jeff, when your tour is over, bring Roy to your house, dig out the old unreleased tracks, restore them, and release them. Your fans would love it!
Temazo de Roy y Jeff! 🎸🔥🚀
I have to admit, I don't get what all the shouting is about when it comes to Roy and Jeff working together. Jeff was absolutely right to advance his own ideas with ELO.
MILLION THANKS¡¡¡ for restrotation of one of my fav songs of Jeff¡¡¡ you're wonderful¡¡¡
This is truly beautiful 💖
Reminds me in parts of... hold me tight by the beatles. Love it all the same.
Please please me too
Sometimes I feel like it’s about to go into “Girls Talk”. I’m thinking of Dave Edmunds’ cover. And actually, this sounds like the first track of Roy’s ‘87 album! Sounds like he recycled ideas for the better. Great song right here, hope they drop it for real!
What talent!!
What a track ! Love it.
Between 1966 till 1986, these 2 wrote some of the greatest songs ever - Roy 1966 - 1975, Jeff from 1974 - 1986, naturally they couldn't keep that level up as this song shows but we have 20 years worth of classics to enjoy.
I dunno man, it may not be a classic but this song definitely slaps 👀
Brilliant restoration of one of my favourites! Thank you!!!
Super song, was eaiting this song 25 years💔💘💕
Roy Wood is the one who actually germinated the idea for Electric Light Orchestra
I like it
Green glass windows by Roy Woods Helicopters is a great tune
Roy Wood was on the first ELO album in 1971 after The Move
Thanks.
Most powerful!
Great mix
Its great jeff and roy done these songs although different writing styles they could have made a tidy album cos no egos now
This sounds like early ELO. Exquisite.
JEFF gracias por tu amor ❤️🤘🤘 gracias por tu música 🎼🎼💎💎💎 ERES algo grande y Yo te AMO yo me quiero casar contigo mi amor ❤️ 🤘🤘😎😎😎💜💖💋💋💋Im your Fan number 1 and I love You forever baby 💗
Sounds great.
I enjoy how the piano at the end emulates the shark in Jaws
Roy and Jeff in the studio like: “Yeah this shit slaps, let’s never fucking release it”
Thats' Jeff's Style 😎😂👍
Why swear, no need. Let's keep it clean please.
@@seltaeb3302 I simply will continue to say cuss words.
@@Barrowsbro86The trouble is people don't want to see cuss words, you need to look at life without saying a cuss word.
@@phillipbonner9944 I simply wont.
Thanks💖💝💔💯
Does jeff Lynne still smoke? In the photo he holds cigarette.
Nope
When was this recorded? Very cool!
The description says 1989.
Good song though not sure what’s going on with snare. Doesn’t sound like Bev. I think people who worry about Roy Wood’s legacy because of his short time in ELO forget he was in The Move and Wizzard and wrote one of the two greatest Christmas songs of all time.
The audio is RESTORED, so some bits of the original sound are going to be missing, especially when the original sound is still not clear enough. (It had every radio wave on top of the song)
Like the first verse of the vocals is clearly done by Roy, but in this restoration it sounds like Jeff was doing the vocals.
@DDL Interesting. Does restoration mean AI or not?
@@misfit2022 I have no idea, you have to ask the uploader for the tool.
Having AI does not mean it's good at these jobs, still needs fine tuning.
@D D L I just wondered as it has been well publicised they used AI on the “new” Beatles track Now and Then
Dobre lecz bez,, dymku,,
The beginning of Electric Light Orchestra, the ELO sound is there already.
No, this is a later reunion recording,
This was recorded in 1989, Jeff Lynne disbanded ELO in 1986.
Клево!!
ELO was great before ELO was ELO!
What?
And, of course Jeff chose to use pre-progamming drums. Soooooo. Sad. is it Disco?
Disco is four on the floor. So no. Also, those drums sound kickass. Classic ELO sound
That is Roy Wood on drums. Listen to Boulders. That is him.
Much like the Beatles where they're all good solo but don't come close to the magic of their collaboration. It's the same with these two. I like ELO & Roy's solo work. It doesn't have the magic of their collaboration in The Move.
No Rou Wood no jeff Lynne he was going nowhere till he join the move Roy Wood left him the ELO name group and Don Arden. .
Don Arden convinced Roy to leave ELO and start his own band. You know, two bands would make that much more money for sleazy Arden. But Roy and Jeff were both strong leaders, it would have been difficult if Roy stayed.
