I grew up on a farm in Africa. MY father loved opera and on a warm summers evening I would sit outside gazing up at a gazzilion stars and hugging my dog Pinto while this played inside. Later, when i was at university in Johannesburg my father took us all to a performance or la Boheme. That is when I fell in love with opera, the best inheritance that a parent can give
i come from a world of rock and roll music. but recently i've been listening to these operatic classics and good god, this lady has opened up a new world of music to discover.
Callas was the ultimate soprano, who thrilled audiences with her amazing voice and her powerful presence. Here she delivers the heart rendering aria, which not only touches the heart, but also the soul. The aria tugs at the emotions with Callas’s plaintive voice! Unforgettable!
The most beautiful song and singer on this planet ,makes your heart 💓 swell with happiness , wish all the world would listen 👂 and would be united in music, peace not war ✌️☮️✋🌹 god bless you all listening , Shirley h Darlington England 🌹💓
My mum played this full blast at my grandmothers funeral as we came in to the church. It was a killer, broke mine and my brothers heart! We loved our nana and this song my mum chose for her mums funeral. ......One fine day Il find you/see you again. So pleased my mum introduced me to this music, she used to play it to me and still does given half the chance. Love you mum.
I have replayed this 20 to 30 times I really think this is as close to perfection as will ever hear. I never get tired of this. I'm sure Maria callaz is a lead in the angels quire. They just don't get any better
stunning, my dad used to play it when I was little, brings me to tears every time. That's what its for, to help us touch divinity, and all art aspires to music
"Don't cry for me. I'm already dead."- Barney Gumble from Simpsons. If it weren't for Simpsons I would have likely never realized how great Puccini is.
The Divine Maria Callas, really she had one of the most beautiful voice, expressive, passionate, dramatic. It seems to me she sung her own tragedy. Thanks for this gift I can hear it
This aria always brings a lump to my throat. A woman who is deeply wounded by her joy being crushed and now faces the anguish of loneliness. Callas had the ability to transfix an audience with her spell binding performances!
It is the perfect vocal performance of all time. Maria Callas is the only performer who enters the heart and soul of this aria, but also the heart and soul of the listener! Thank you for the upload.
altough this tapes are over 50 years old, I've never heard so much energy and freshness in a voice! I think that we will never find another singer in this rate again.
Weeping? And why? And why? Ah, 'tis faith you are lacking Hear me One fine day we'll notice A thread of smoke arising on the sea In the far horizon And then the ship appearing Then the trim white vessel Glides into the harbour Thunders forth her cannon See you? Now he is coming I do not go to meet him Not I I stay upon the brow of the hillock And wait there And wait for a long time But never weary of the long waiting From out the crowded city There is coming a man A little speck in the distance Climbing the hillock Can you guess who it is? And when he's reached the summit Can you guess what he'll say? He will call, "Butterfly" from the distance I, without answering Hold myself quietly concealed A bit to tease him and a bit So as not to die at our first meeting And then, a little troubled He will call, he will call "Dear baby wife of mine, Dear little orange blossom" The names he used to call me when he came here This will all come to pass as I tell you Banish your idle fears For he will return Return
Originale, unico e fantasctico. Viva Maria Callas per sempre.
One good day, we will see Arising a strand of smoke Over the far horizon on the sea And then the ship appears And then the ship is white It enters into the port, it rumbles its salute. Do you see it? He is coming! I don't go down to meet him, not I. I stay upon the edge of the hill And I wait a long time but I do not grow weary of the long wait. And leaving from the crowded city, A man, a little speck Climbing the hill. Who is it? Who is it? And as he arrives What will he say? What will he say? He will call Butterfly from the distance I without answering Stay hidden A little to tease him, A little as to not die. At the first meeting, And then a little troubled He will call, he will call "Little one, dear wife Blossom of orange" The names he called me at his last coming. (To Suzuki) All this will happen, I promise you this Hold back your fears - I with secure faith wait for him.
I've searched for this song for a long time (10 months) finally found it. It sure helps to know the title. I knew it was from Madam Butterfly, just couldn't remember the title. Finally! It's in my playlist now. What a beautiful and moving song. Sounds like praying, & yes, I got goose bumps, & a lump in my throat, & a few tears. Gave mpm111144 thumbs up!

She was betrayed. And l know how she felt. Waiting for another which you cannot have. My life was wasted, by the betray.
Oh, Puccini, what a genius. Pls listen to more of this composers masterpieces.
