    This year 2023 on December 2nd Maria Callas would be 100 years old. Probably the greatest opera singer of all time had to leave the world far too early at the age of 54, she died of a broken heart

      Eine große Sängerin, aber ein armer Mensch. Die Welt lag ihr zu Füßen, alle haben sie geliebt, aber der Mensch, dem sie beweisen wollte, was sie kann, hat sie nie geliebt: ihre Mutter. Ihr Leben war eine Tragödie.

    I prefer Callas on her worst day than the others on their best. She is not just a singer. She is an actress, an intelligent interpreter, a musicologist, a linguist, a stunning beauty, and fashion icon and so much more. She was and always will be the ultimate Prima Donna. Which other soprano has had 60 books written about her? She died long before I was born and I am watching her in 2021.......

      The fact this is considered to be a mid performance from her is insane, Maria Callas was a truly La Divina.

    • @smilenmarkov3840
      @smilenmarkov3840 3 месяца назад +3

      If this is mid performance, today's sopranos do not produce a voice at all. They are silent. I think many couldn't forgive her genuine, mesmerizing feminine beauty and her independent spirit.

    For everyone saying she was not at her best, doctors were able to confirm that her condition of dermatomyositis is the reason why her voice declined. Not from her years of singing. She sang with the true, what Italians call, their version of breath support that all the great singers sang with in the theater without constriction or use of enhancers (microphones) in the theater. Her technique was perfect! Some say flawless! It’s unfortunate she was struck with an illness that damaged her voice but we at least have the best of her recordings from when she was in her prime. Even at her worst she is still way better than the modern singers we have today singing with such constricted sounds and improper breath support. Long love the great Callas!!!

      Telling people that she suffering a DESEASE WAS THE WHOLE reason HER VOICE deteriorated IS to tell ONLY half the story.
      Her HUGE AND very quick WIEGHT loss and HER willingness to...sing everything.....is a big part of the damage that can easily HAPPEN to a VOICE...when singing CERTAIN roles. Which were notorious VOICE killers.......then....add to ALL of that there COMES THE natural changes that COME with ageing and the physique.....after all SHE WAS only HUMAN.......you can win the 100 metres at 25......but not so much at 45!........you should still be able to run....but maybe not quite as far OR AS fast..

    • @gabrielpaludo6913
      @gabrielpaludo6913 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@luigicorvi1661 not sure about that, considering that basically the pinnacle of her singing was in the late 50s, already having lost weight and having a significant career, and in the 60s her voice already started to deteriorate.

      NO ONE is mentioning the PINK ELEPHANT in the middle of the room!! Her *drug* use! So much is being left out here. This recital in 1974 was at Carnegie Hall New York City. The NY Times described it as a *emotional torrent* (I am unclear if that was a compliment or not). Maria Callas was very much a diva! Maria Callas was not diagnosed with dermatomyositis until 1975. Quit singing in public in 1965. In 1965 her last full-length opera was Tosca at Convent Garden which she sang while "in the throes of a nervous breakdown". Also in Paris 1965 during a performance of *Norma* her voice gave out snd she collasped backstage. Her voice was strained and she more than likely needed the rest. The "liquid vitamins* she took? Speed was introduced to her by her first husband. To help her deal with overwork and help her to work more. These "vitamins" can cause weight loss. Not to mention she would need after over use of Mandrax (on the same vein of Quaaludes) strong sedative. She used this drug to help her deal with some of her diesse symptoms. She also had several over doses of this drug.
      Then phenobarbital another strong sedative drug (sedative no idea what strength). She also took methaqualone (quaaludes) and became addicted to it. (Introduced to her by Onassis). She was also taking antihistamine hydroxyzine (to treat anxiety and allergies). Don't know when she started taking what ..but any of these would NOT help her be able to sing again. In fact they would have the opposite effect. Many were self-prescribed?

    • @LoraMatildaSSk
      @LoraMatildaSSk 28 дней назад +1

      Nothing from what you wrote counts or have any Significance.....Kalas was Greek 🇬🇷 she had the Greek emotionality and pride....Lots of factors contributed to her isolation in Paris and definitely her voice was more than exceptional #Always ....Your comment it's not the one that can stand to the hights of what Kalas really was and remains for #MusicHistory.

    • @gusputuri475
      @gusputuri475 21 день назад

      @@luigicorvi1661I don't think her weight loss had any significant impact on her voice if any. For example Adele also lost a lot of weight and even though her voice did change she still has a great and most importantly healthy voice, back a few years ago she did have a nodule surgery mainly because of improper technique. Callas did go to a laryngologist for her voice and the doctor did tell her that her vocal cords are indead in pristine condition but she did have a hearing problem with one of her ears that's usually used to adjust the pitch and she didn't have time to take care of this problem because of work. But I do think you're right about the theory because she sang everything it kind of contributed to her loss of voice. Once her sister said in an interview I think in the late 70s after Callas's death that she didn't really loose her voice, she just lost her health and the fact that she was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder later in life after it being untreated for many years I think it tells it all.

      Actually, her voice greatly improved in later dates of the tour. Especially the ones in Japan where she sang arias in their original keys. She was actually retraining herself for a comeback before her death. She never actually lost her voice, it was her confidence that got badly shaken by the pressure of fans, critics and she put on herself. Just when she was starting to find again, she died.

      @@SquirrelPlanet lol MARIA HERSELF wrote a series of letters in which she details her mother blackmailing her, Onassis' physical violence toward and drugging her to have sex with her before abandoning her for Jackie Kennedy, how her husband Meneghini took over half her fortune, how the president at the time of Juliard sexually harrassed her and then blackballed her from returning to the school after she rejected her advances. And this is to say NOTHING of her hideous childhood and her mother trying to pimp her out to Nazi soldiers. It's not an opinion that she had a miserable life. It's by her own words and factual events that happened to her that her life was full of misery. Stop living in Lala Fairytale land and maybe do a little research.
