I've been finding written synopsis for my g'children to read. I'm guessing they don't read but if they get started with this I have faith they will listen to the end. Thanks Ms. Green.
Girl, you are amazing! Thank you for making opera so fun!
That's the plan! So glad you enjoy it!
Miss Saigon was based on Madame Butterfly
Thanks for this summary!! I’m so excited I’m going to see Madame Butterfly for the first time this evening. Eun Sun Kim & Karah Son directing and performing.❤
Wowzer! Avi's synopsis of MBF is fun and informative. So glad I watched as I'm seeing MBF for the first time in two weeks! Yay!
Seeing it at the Met on Thursday evening. I feel well prepared -- thanks!
This was so helpful thank you so much
So happy it was helpful!
Love this opera never watched before
This has helped me 😂first live opera bought tickets for next year x
"Spot on Avi Green! Truly enjoyed the "cut of your jib". Will be taking my daughter to her first opera, so she will certainly also enjoy you summary. Domo arigatou. Sayonara.
Thanks for that
Remember to watch M. Butterfly (movie/play) after watching the opera. And then Google "Bernard Boursicot". Do it in this exact order and you'll get the best feeling ever.
My english literature friend suggested this to me and it was amazing.
I have to check this out!
Yes. 100% honestly I HATE Madama Butterfly. And ms. Saigon. WITH A PASSION. M. Butterfly brought justice and I am OBSESSED with M.🦋 so if you love the opera/musical you won’t like M.🦋
Seeing MB in a few weeks. Thanks for the intell.
In a month from now madama butterfly is playing at the opera house in my city and I'm debating if I should go or not.
It’s named after my favorite album and Pinkerton saying sorry in the last song ‘’butterfly’’ by weezer
That's a wild opera right there
looks like you forgot to mention what musical was based on this opera!!! but, of course, it's miss saigon ;))
I left it up to the comments! and yes! I absolutely love miss Saigon! I used to listen to it on repeat on my walks to school when I was 15-17
I watched this to understand some references in ‘Fatal Attraction’ better. 😬😦 Not terrified in the lest. And I’m not finished with the movie yet.
PS ❤ you are a Mayim Bialik doppelgänger! Which is a wonderful thing.
I knew nothing about this opera and honestly I'm gonna have nightmares. 😨😨😨
Not nightmares... Miss Siagon is much much darker in my opinion. Here Butterfly is just naive.
But I understand...
@@VivsGreen yes Saigon is also terrifying. Amazing vocals, but still terrifying. 😂😂😂
You should read the synopsis of Rigoletto.
your lipstick is so beautiful which is it
💯
So "MADAME Butterfly" is the original story to which that real life characters refer in the other story "M Butterfly"?
I assume so. Didn't fully understand what you mean.
Kinda. Ms. Saigon is inspired by Madama Butterfly. On the other hand
M.🦋 is inspired by this opera and the real life political/romantic affair between a French diplomat and a Japanese opera singer.
If you hate Madama Butterfly/ Toxic Masculinity (like me) you will absolutely love love LOVE. M. 🦋
If you love Madama Butterfly....you might still like M.🦋. But M.🦋 is literally one of my favorite (if not my favorite) works of art ever.
Hey. What do you think of "This is Opera" channel???
hmmm. it's not my thing. I'm all about showing positivity and encouraging people to feel like opera is accessible. But it does introduce a lot of singers that might otherwise be forgotten.
Miss Saigon.
Please do L'amico Fritz
Haven't heard of it until right this second! definitely adding it to the list! Thank you!!! ❤️❤️
Avi Green you’ll love it! Mascagni is a genius!
Miss Saigon
I thought she stabbed herself?!? Well my grandma told me that. Thanks for this great video!
She cuts her throat that's pretty close to stabbing. hahaha !!! Thank you!! ❤️
Tragic opera: beautiful music snared by depressing stories.
The child has blue eyes and blonde hair? I’m guessing they not know how genes work or butterfly’s family has way more explaining to do.
What's up with Puccini and Asians?
Hahahha!!! It was most of Europe and the interest in exoticism... he was just following a trend. 😝
