Sure. Set your gain up to about 8 bass around 6 mids around 3-4 and your treble to about 6-7. That should get you close.
Any reverb? Srry if that's a stupid question, I'm a beginner
@@Gekoloniseerd_ no reverb
Great lesson for a killer song.
I'm not sure I'll be able to play this one. LOL I can play some of it. That middle chorus confuses me.
John DeRossett maybe I’m answering a bit late, but just keep practicing dude. Took me a week to get the Home Sweet Home solo, and then I practiced everyday, it’ll come
@@lukski100 hahaha oh yeah. ok Thanks. your not too late. I will keep trying. Thank you for the encouragement
I use a Divided by 13 BTR23 with a medium gain setting bass around 4 mid 6 treble 6 and the i go into a Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe pedal with the gain on about 2 into a Divided by 13 Lift pedal which is a boost pedal and it is set at about 2 as well. I find stacking gain pedals with just a little gain on them is the way to go for me. The guitar is a Nash with a Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge. Hope that helps.
Ths dude is awesome haha, I watch all his videos just to see what I can learn
Thanks for this one! I love the old Crue stuff.
You should do more motley cure
If you watch the movie, he plays all down strokes then too lol...
if you watch Mick live he uses alternate picking but yeah as long as it sounds cool
Thank you. I will watch it more.
No kidding. The cat who played it in the movie must have been JAmes Hetfield because that's fast as hell down picked. Much easier to hit it alternate picking that's for sure.
Hey Duke, nice ride...
Nice ride 😂
Possibly my favourite Crue song, finally I can learn it :D
Thanks Brett you legend!.... Just made me a pedal that emulates Micks sound.... so much fun!...
Mick Rules!
You are welcome!
1:34
Great detail of how to play it . thank you for showing!
You are welcome!
That humbucker sounds awesome
I don’t even have a guitar but still want to watch this
Awesome!
I bought mine for 89 bucks definitely worth check amzon
Interesting. I always played this by starting with a downstroke on the D and G string but then an upstroke on the first A string palm mute alternate picking. Had no idea Mick played it all down strokes. He’s a monster!
Yeah, I don't know how they do it!!!
I tried to play it on alternate picking but cannot nail it so I still do it on down strokes the sad thing is my shoulders get tired so easily with this method, I guest I got to practice more
@blackship14
Push-ups and pull-ups. Look at EVH's shoulders and arms, Petrucci, Hetfield...
For me, I have to be doing a bit of strength training to downpick the quicker Metallica. Nothing crazy, work up to sets of 40 push-ups and 10 or 12 pull-ups. No need to go to a gym.
That's the magic "secret" sauce, hidden in plain sight, right before our eyes.
You're welcome!
1:07 I thought you were about to do Piece of the Action! This whole album is great!
Haha! True that album is great!
Thanks for the lesson papastache. You rock brother!!
No, you rock haha! Thanks for watching!
It's really interesting how different the downstroke and alternate sound
For sure!
I might just be stupid but I’m so confused on 4:29 with the artificial harmonic on how to get it so high pitched because it sounds so bad ass
Yeahh! Love you man. Educational-entertaining=damn good times!
Simply awesome..!!!
Can you show a lesson on South of Heaven by Slayer
Thanks!
Amazin man
Waow ! you really sounds HUGE with a ... strat ??? Great job !
Takamushi NAGAMOTO it not just huge. It’s YHUGE!!!
🙃
@Jarrad Burdick Of course it does ! It seems to be a Di Marzio to me ?
@Jarrad Burdick Yeah ! Di Marzio PU are usually well conformed to sound ...heavy ! (but Seymour Duncans are working good too !)
Cool tutorial man! Honestly didn’t know you could change the sound of your harmonics in location to the pickups.🤙
Thanks for checking it out!
Papastache is the man!
No you da man!
Professional man, thanks👍💯
Sure thing Ruben!
dude if this works you will be in my top 10 guitar idols. next to zakk wylde and jake E lee
Heyy IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE on getting MICK MARS' tone please could you help me out? EQ and gear recommendations
Get a killer modded Marshall lol! Let me see what I can do on that.
Hi Brett, im a new subscriber. Thanks for Livewire! One of my favorite songs! Brett, would you tell me what year strat you have and what model it is? Someday my dream is to get a white strat and yours looks awesome!
Thanks for the sub Tom! It is actually a Nash Guitar 60's style. You can buy one just like it. I routed the hum bucker pickup in though. They are fantastic guitars that are very reasonably priced.
I noticed what you did with the HB! Very cool! Thanks for responding, I will check out Nash guitars for sure! Back to practicing Livewire, haha!
Hi, man i checked out Nash guitars. They look awesome but everything on the internet is between 1 to 5 thousand. Might just be cheaper to buy a fender strat 🙂
yes plzzzz dr feelgood !!!!!!!!!! ur the man !
Such a great riff Papa!! 🤘
Thanks for checking it out!
Awesome song....awesome lesson. You rock my friend.
Wow, tune down a whole step! Loved the part in The Dirt, where they were playing it tuned up and it sounded like crap
Sounds great tuned down!
Appreciate your enthusiasm...good times
Thanks for checking it out!
Papa stash! Love it Bro
Thanks!
Rocking papa.
Thanks!
You just can't not to love Fender's sound.
Hey man, you sound huge! What are u using, cap, amp, effects? Thanks a lot
Thanks! I think it was a Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe through a Divided by 13 BTR23 with an open back cab with a G12H.
What's the tuning and equalization?
Awesome dude your guitar tone rocks!!!!
thanks. it would help if i had that guitar or a pedal. i just have a line 6 spider 3 15 watt amp. do you know that amp and if so do you know what i should set those settings to? that way i could sound like you do. or mick mars.
Hi!! can you show how to play ALL OVER NOW from GREAT WHITE?
I love Great White! I’ll need to do some soon.
Excellent
sick, great ass trashy tone on this track Papa-- just sick. I like that your humbucker is still routed at the angle of a single coil. is that thrua Divide by 13 amp?
Thanks! Yes its a BTR23 and a Wampler Pinnace Deluxe I believe.
Great video! Cleared a lot of things up. Since I don't have an extra guitar to dedicate to being a step down on stage, I'm dropping the D to bar the root/5 on the fifth for the G pedal tones. The chorus is a bit of a bitch that way, but it works. Thanks for posting! Cool 'stache!
any tips on the alternate strumming on the A string? im finding it very difficult to learn
Just the A string? If it's isolated and you're just alternate picking the A string alone you can mute the E string with your index finger while you chop both strings simultaneously.
Like if you're picking the 5th fret of the A string, you can hold the note with middle finger and leave your index finger extended up just behind the middle finger and resting over the E string. Muting it will allow you to isolate the A string even if your accuracy isn't great and you're hitting additional strings.
Other than that tho you can do string skipping exercises. Jump from E to A and back to E. E to D and back to E. Etc. Whatever strings in what ever order. But you have two rules:
1. Make sure you pick ONLY the string you're jumping to. If you miss, you're defeating the purpose of the exercise. Try to be as accurate as physically possible. Try to miss as rarely as possible.
But 2. Play to a metronome and start on a very slow tempo. Try to start as slowly as you need to play without missing the string or hitting the wrong string. Pick each note a few times and then jump to the next string. Repeat that for about a minute. And move the tempo up slowly.
The idea is that eventually you'll build muscle memory so your picking hand will just jump to the right string on command. But speed usually costs us our accuracy until we're so well practiced it's like second nature to us. So play slow until you play perfectly. Then speed up a little bit.
Playing perfectly is what your focus should be, not speed. So really slow is okay. It's just that you're trying to train your subconscious muscle movements, and so the more you fuck up the less proper repetitions you're putting your muscles through. Once your muscles know intuitively how far to move for any particular string, speed comes naturally because they'll just jump to the right spot.
Hope this helps. Keep on practicing bud.
I thought the harmonics were 5th fret natural harmonics. I know it sounds more accurate with the 5th fret natural harmonics.Great lesson either way. Thanks!
Sure thing!
The only Motley song I actually dig.
Its a good one!
Is there any way to do it in drop d
Spider Mike0226 no, since you're riffing on the a string most of the time you have to tune down to D entirely. you could however use a program like riffstation to shift the pitch of the song to e standard or whatever tuning you're in. d tuning sounds rad though.
Macon Pittman...yes...
standard 440 tuning
drop the E to D
play in the 3rd and 5th frets for the chords
and 3rd finger on the 5th fret (E string) for the muted notes in between.
the song is in G, but this guy uses ALL strings dropped so his A is G.
that shit should be played half step down anyways
Good stuff
Thanks!
That tone is pretty close to the album.
Thanks!
yeah!!! live wire
Dude, please tell me how you got that tone
I think it was just the amp and a Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe. Awesome pedal!!
@@BrettPapa Thank you sir! love the content!
papastache102,thankyou bro.i got it !! you da best dude!!
The middle chorus & the bridge are hard to figure out.
what are your amp settings for this song? PLEASE REPLY!!!
6 yrs later and still no reply
LMAO
Hey Papa is Derrick Smalls from Spinal Tap your dad?
Haha!
You’re awesome
No you are!!
teach us Dr. Feelgood by Motley Crue PLEEEEEASE
what model fender strat is that?
Its a Bill Nash 60's style Strat. I added the humbucker.
I think what he meant to say at the end was,by the songs....support the record companies that ripped the bands off.I f you want to support the artist, see them live, buy tickets to the shows.....that's where they make money. As in the case of the first 2 VanHalen albums...the more albums they sell, the more money THEY OWE to the record company.
Buy*
Thank you dude! Most helpful \m/
Sure thing!
How do you tune down?
Just tune your A string to G, and then tune the rest of your guitar to that string.
6th-D 5th-G 4th-C 3rd-F 2nd-A 1st-D
Or just remember
Dirty
Girl
Cunt
Farted
And
Dashed
how do i get mick's sound tho?
Great question! I heard one of his Marshall’s once, pretty much nailed the tone. Modded Marshall’s will get you there. Wampler makes some great distortion pedals that will probably get you there.
@@BrettPapa ah okay thanks!
YEAH!!!
Any pedal ?
Hard to remember what one. I would guess maybe a Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe?
Tuning?
OK !idn't I didn't seen the hidden humbuck' I understand better now ;-)
Haha! Got to have one of those in there!
Yeahhhhhhhh...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woooohoooo!
I wish this was a Hendrix lesson so "look at all that purple haze in the background"--as a comment-- would seem more "appropriate"
Awesome song... how about " shout at the devil " after the song, just don't light your leg on fire like in the live wire video!
Crüe! I "liked" this before it started playing.
Тож- игрок еще тот)))
Even Mick Mars admits he can't play it with all down strokes anymore.
Right...and he told you that you lame. Thousands of people including myself can do it in all down strokes, yet the guy that has played hundreds of live shows, same song can no longer do it....we believe you
nintendenn sorry had to set the record straight.
You look like les Claypool
Did you know Mick Mars has a kid named Les Paul
Sounds about right! He supposedly moved down the street from me. Would be fun to run into him.
papastache102 that would be awesome
More crüe:D
One settima lower
I like your mustache! I've never gotten any bf to grow one like that.
FIRST few seconds ARE so sexy no cap, mick mars is a goat and you are a legend for teaching us!
Haha, thanks!
You
Downstrokes are for gods
Pretty much!
first!!
Play dat shit boi
Haha!
cant seem to blend that harmonics part into it right. also picking that fast is a bitch
You will get it! Keep at it!
@@BrettPapa Ahahah your right. Its getting close now after a week of practice.
Keanu reeves??😂
Haha
Sloppy just like me lol
Lol!
全部、ダウンじゃね?
Z
Alternate picking this riff is wrong.. sounds clumsy and inconsistent
K thanks haha.
I was good until you said harmonic lol
Haha
I like your mustache! I've never gotten any bf to grow one like that.
Well tell them to get on it! Mustaches rule!
