After 20 years of not drumming, I'm 53, I dug up my good old kit, revised it, oiled the pedals, bought a bunch of new cymbals, skins and sticks. And yes, it feels great! Thank you man!

Very impressive, Not many drummers can pull off groovy blast beats, Derrek Roddy is about the only other blast drummer that comes to mind. There are a lot of really fast good drummers but they all sound like machines. No life to the blast.
Derek Roddy was a good call. I would also like to highlight Ken Bedene (Aborted) for very tasty blasts with fantastically groovy ride bell work. I would also encourage you to watch the video of Lars Broddesson playing "Baptism By Fire" with Marduk if you haven't already. World class blasting that complements the guitar lines in an exceptionally musical way.

@@Icipher353 gotcha I follow his channel pretty closely but I must have missed the videos were he explains that or haven’t checked all the descriptions. But obviously he didn’t pay for all that out of his own pocket lol

I know that I am really late but he explains why he does that in another video. He comes high and stiff arm to avoid rim shots. I’m sure you can find where he explains it.

Explore those toms more...my only complaint every fill is the same and has been since the 1st album
Good technique and playing the rhythms and speed are great. The only problem is that the fills on the toms are extremely bland. They all sound the same and nothing really impressive done on the toms except for when he is doing the mid section with them.

@REZA SA there are quite a few cycles he does the exact same. He never adds the bass drum patterns on top of his fills. He always sticks to the same binary pattern of starting with one tom and only going to lower toms from there. He never uses rudiments for drum fills.
I'm not dissing his overall playing, but I'm just saying he can improve on fills. Some of the fills are even cool, but this is not the best that this dude can dude especially after looking at the mid section with the tom rhythm he's doing.

Ironically, i like everything about the album Urn except the two songs that are Urn 1 and 2.
So basically, i like Urn but i don't like Urn.
Ha, I'm the same way. I absolutely love Libera pt.1, Intra Venus, and Eyrie. The other tracks don't stand out too much to me. I'd say the three I mentioned are the same quality as the flawless 1st album and 2nd album (but not as good as the EPs)
