- Every once in a while there comes along an artist who restores your faith in (real) music. They capture you with familiarity. They keep you with their novelty. And all of a sudden you're energized, inspired, touched in that unexplainable way that sorta just shook the earth beneath your feet. Totally turned on.
HAIM hails from LA. They're a band fronted by three sisters with two chaps in the back on drums and keys. They've got a deadly and powerful cocktail of impactful, raspy and emotion-laced vocals; song structures that avoid staid, expected progressions; catchy lyrics (in the good way); the stage banter of someone comfortable in their skin and sense of humor; and mega-solos. Artist comparisons flooded my head as I watched; Fleetwood Mac, The XX, John Mayer, Tracy Chapman, Nirvana; and yet they're incomparable.
THERE'S NO STOPPING HAIM
Having released their critically-acclaimed debut album Days Are Gone, in 2013, Sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim are hitting the road once again. This time they'll be touring again in Spring, joined on the road by Lizzo, in a tour aptly titled 'Sister Sister Sister'. They'll be playing material off their 2017 album, Something To Tell You.
HAIM have been the focus of almost unprecedented media attention since their smash hit 2013 album; they've been honored in Rolling Stone's annual "Best of Rock" issue, named both an MTV "Artist to Watch" and VH1 "You Oughta Know" artist, and showcased as Spotify's first ever "Spotlight" artist. The creators of crowd favorites, Falling, Forever, and The Wire, Haim's Days Are Gone album was co-written with Kid Harpoon and Jessie Ware and debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
I HAD to go to this....and I took my 17 yo son with me. I wanted him to experience what its like when 10,000 souls get together, and not a single negative vibe is cast. Its possible. It happened here. Humanity's NOT lost. And we'll all be just fine. Thank you, Haim.

There's such an honesty to this whole band. Just play what they want. They play rock and roll. Does it totally forge some new path? Well... ___a hell of a lot more than any pop band these days____

God being a LD I'm so impressed w who is in charge of the lighting. My bucket list as a old LD would be to work 1 show with them. I think there the most talented band out there. Along w Greta ..this is what we need now.
They played to a show where only 8 people showed up just before going to London in 2013. Now they are sold out around the world!

I forgot lizzo was at this show. Like before lizzo was a huge superstar. Everyone on that stage that night is more famous now. I didn't even start listening to Maggie Rogers till months after this show. Now I love her
Honestly I feel kind of proud that I saw Lizzo five times on that tour even though I had NO idea who she was when I showed up to the first show!

They don't, but they do point out the drummer at the very end while they're drumming, and he does a little drum solo! The show really is all about them, though!
They do on the Glastonbury tour, unfortunately I can’t remember their names.
I’ve just done a Google search, their male drummer is Jody Giachello and their male keyboardist is Tommy King, on tour.

They'd be much better if they stopped the nasal sounds of retort (hak, huh...etc). This shows a lack of ideas in terms of melody. If they concentrate on building melody, timing, phrasing, more expansive guitar work (better solos and progressive chord changes) and lyrical quality, they would definitely get far. Finally, Danielle hasn't found her singing voice...there's no projection and searing tone, which I'm sure she's capable of with some training. Failing to develop all these attributes would only mean their sad demise, after some time.
They’re opening for the chili peppers on a stadium tour this summer.
So I’d say your critique is a bit…off base.
Damn its distracting watching the freakishly bizarre Bass Player.... very odd.
