- Every once in a while there comes along an artist who restores your faith in (real) music. They capture you with familiarity. They keep you with their novelty. And all of a sudden you're energized, inspired, touched in that unexplainable way that sorta just shook the earth beneath your feet. Totally turned on.
HAIM hails from LA. They're a band fronted by three sisters with two chaps in the back on drums and keys. They've got a deadly and powerful cocktail of impactful, raspy and emotion-laced vocals; song structures that avoid staid, expected progressions; catchy lyrics (in the good way); the stage banter of someone comfortable in their skin and sense of humor; and mega-solos. Artist comparisons flooded my head as I watched; Fleetwood Mac, The XX, John Mayer, Tracy Chapman, Nirvana; and yet they're incomparable.
THERE'S NO STOPPING HAIM
Having released their critically-acclaimed debut album Days Are Gone, in 2013, Sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim are hitting the road once again. This time they'll be touring again in Spring, joined on the road by Lizzo, in a tour aptly titled 'Sister Sister Sister'. They'll be playing material off their 2017 album, Something To Tell You.
HAIM have been the focus of almost unprecedented media attention since their smash hit 2013 album; they've been honored in Rolling Stone's annual "Best of Rock" issue, named both an MTV "Artist to Watch" and VH1 "You Oughta Know" artist, and showcased as Spotify's first ever "Spotlight" artist. The creators of crowd favorites, Falling, Forever, and The Wire, Haim's Days Are Gone album was co-written with Kid Harpoon and Jessie Ware and debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Along with everything else wonderful about these women rockers, their arrangements are pure genius, never too much fill or too little, just perfect. Danielle's drum work on this piece, as well as the entire band's, encapsulates this. It's what is not played that is as important as what is. A producer's dream band!
She makes drums look effortless.

Two years ago, I came across MUNA. Can't begin to describe how much bliss they've brought into my life. Last year, very late to the party, I finally got around to their music, which I'd been keeping off to the side and out of rotation because- Well, I have no idea. Temporary madness? LOL Anyway, my ultimate playlist now is all of MUNA's and HAIM's music. On endless repeat.
Wait until you can see HAIM live, they will blow your mind! I didn't know them at all the first time I saw them, and then I went to four more shows that tour 😆

You are quite right but it's like talking while driving a car. The subconscious - or automatic pilot - takes control. This is why some musicians can talk while playing guitar, for instance.
@@keramidasnicolas2079 I never read much of his materials but there was a drum teacher named Gary Chester who had his students sing over tricky exercises. I guess it's a skill you can get better at. Idk cause I never have to sing while playing

Phill Collins, Sheila E., Max Weinberg, Anton Figg, LARS!!! and Buddy Rich (RIP). You are the ones who keep the background of music alive. Without the beat of the drums, there are only voices and sounds, waiting for structure.

At first I thought this was Dani aka Danielle from The Warning..... which is a SUPER AWESOME rock band from Mexico with all 3 members being sisters. what's crazy is The Warning is not only a rock band containing three Mexican sisters but they're all under the age of 21. In fact one of them still in school. Check them out. They totally rock hard.

Check out The Warning Band a three teenage sister rock band out of Mexico. I suggest Dust to Dust Live from Lunario CDMX off their YT channel. Paulina the drummer sings lead blows this away.

I liked the improvised songs at the beginning better than the main song. Wish HAIM had the guts to be as raw as they were on their iTunes live show in (I think) 2013, but I suppose most of their fans feel otherwise.
