You gave an excellent presentation and tutorial. It spoke of sewing in such relevance. Not a lot of jibber jabber and I could obsorb the instructions. 👍👍⚘
I’m so grateful for this baby steps video. I’m not a computer dummy but not that well versed either. This step by step is so helpful. Took so much anxiety away. Thank you for all you do. So looking forward to making this tee 👚. Many thanks. 🙏🏻❤️
I am also adding to duffa65 comment. I learned 55 yrs ago to use Stay Tape or some kind of 1:1 ratio, be it 1/4 inch clear elastic, a not quite bias knit fusible piece on the shoulder seams and front neckline to keep the possibility of stretch out of the factor when sewing. At that time a sewing machine. I know they have since talked of the 'wobble stitch-slight zigzag and then the serger came along for us that could afford it or not. I know some designers still use the 'tape', some retail have this, and yet others do not bother. I do love the simplicity of this pattern but will err on caution and use the clear elastic even with my serger. Great presentation. Just my 2 cents worth.
Your instructions are easy to follow. The only suggestion I would add is the importance of matching the stripes on the front, back and sleeve. Can’t wait to try it!
Fantastic tutorial. I've never downloaded or printed anything bigger than doll clothes patterns, so it was really good to watch you go thru the process of taping this pattern together, laying out the pattern on the fabric, and cutting with the rotary cutter. And your explanations of everything were very helpful. The tee looked great! Thank you so much!
I was doing great on my own until I hit the neckband. Thank you for spending so much time on that. The LDT is so incredibly comfortable. I went with 3/4 sleeves on the dress with a vneck and it's very flattering. I should be able to get 2 more done this weekend! Then I suppose I have to do the laundry, don't I?
This is a wonderful tutorial! I am buying a serger and should have it on Monday. Is there any video that shows the serging process? I would love to see how the curves were done on a serger because that is one of my concerns. The patterns are awesome because they allow you to pick your own size rather than try to find your size on all those different lines like other pattern companies. Wonderfully done by Love Notions! ❤️
Oh thank you so much, Sharon! Your words are so kind. As for the serger tutorial - Not yet! But I am adding this suggestion to our "to create" tutorial list! Thank you for
Love this, I think I might take the plunge today - I have the pattern, I am going into town so I'll look for good drape stretchy fabric, and sew one up for a planned dinner out tomorrow. Wish me luck! Question though, what is a lightening stitch? Is that like a shallow zigzag? Won't the seams be all wonky? I have just the basic sewing machine... used to have better, but when we moved internationally I had to leave it behind and now just have the barebones. I think I'm going to make the dress length with elbow length sleeves. I'll post a pic in the group tomorrow if it gets done (and I don't botch it!) Thanks for the amazing tutorial!
Hi! Thank you so much for your message - I hope you plunge in and have a ton of fun! Wishing you all the luck! A lightening stitch is very similar to a shallow zigzag. If you just glance at it it actually looks a lot like a straight stitch - but that slight bit of zig zag allows it to stretch. Can't wait to see your new makes!
Great pattern except each time I've made it I have peaks where the shoulder seams and sleeves come together. I notice you have them too especially visible on your right shoulder. What causes this and how can it be remedied? I love the pattern and really want it to turn out nicely.
Hi Sabrina. That promotion is specifically ongoing for our Facebook Support Group. Love Notions uses free patterns to welcome new customers- as a small business we use this offer as a marketing strategy and we invite people into our private FB group to continue to serve and engage people and continue to offer new patterns. If we were to offer a free pattern with no other way to engage or support, it would not make sense for our business in the long term. I hope you understand. ~K
How would Double Brush Poly do for this shirt? I also love your top. What pattern did you use. I have been looking for an elastic neck that drapes down in front, and I like the sleeves also.
Thank you! It is actually a modal knit from AGES ago - I have no idea where it came from at this point! LOL If you want to see some of our favorite online fabric shops just check out here: www.lovenotions.com/where-to-shop-for-fabric-online
Modal is a type of fabric made from beech trees - it is a synthetic fabric (like rayon) but it is much more durable and flexible. I love the weight of it. I get lots of modal at Surge Fabric shop : Check here for our favorite fabric shopping resources! www.lovenotions.com/where-to-shop-for-fabric-online

The FBA piece? Instructions are in the tutorial, but the only difference is using that pattern piece instead of a standard bust piece. It's for those with a 4"+ difference between high and full bust. Hope that helps! 😊 ~J
@@LoveNotions yes I have been reading through and just couldn’t find it. I’ll go back though again. Thank you for your prompt reply. I’m new so takes me a little longer lol.
Great idea - we actually have a series of sewing courses that you can watch as you sew. In the next year we plan to release a knit top course to take everyone through in great detail :)
Hi there, sorry for the delay! We have several, actually. For knits, we have the Resolution Bottoms pattern that includes several bottoms options but also joggers. For wovens, there's the Allegro Pants. And we also have the Thomas Track pants (for guys but anyone can sew and wear em!) which isn't really a jogger but folks in our FB group have added elastic to the hem for joggers! ~J

Glad it was helpful! Please come and ask if you have any questions! We are so happy to help and spread the joy of sewing your own clothes :)
I love how easy to understand your tutorials are, your voice is soothing as well. Thank you.
Glad you like them! ~K
I agree. Excellent tutorial.
Easy, amazing clear instructions. Thank you 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Great tip regarding basting the neckband on the sewing machine before serging, for a newbie to serging, like me.
Glad it was helpful!
Oh my word! What an excellent tutorial!
Sooo happy to hear that! ~K

I’d love a serger tutorial!! I’ve had a serger for years but don’t feel I am using it to its potential and curved seams are a nightmare. 🥴
Do you have to put the sleeve in on the flat or can you set the sleeves in?
You can do whichever you prefer. The joy of sewing is being able to use whatever method suits you best! ~K
What is the top you are wearing? Does Love Notions have that pattern? What is the fabric?
I was thinking the same thing! 😂😍
Haha! The one day I wear a RTW top! LOL This is from Ann Taylor I believe - but wouldn't this make a good new pattern .... hmmmmm ;)
Have this cut out now & going to sew the dress as a nightgown
fun- should be a comfy nightgown!

This is the design of the pattern. You an shave 1/4" or so off the top of the sleeve head. ~K
What about those that don’t have a FB account? Are we excluded from getting the free pattern?

You don't mention using clear elastic on the shoulder seams, I always use it for stability in that area
Totally optional. It will definitely help to prevent shoulder seams stretching out overtime. ~K
Is there a kind you recommend? (In the US.)
Is there a video please on how to create the cowl neck please?
The cowl neck is included in the pattern. No video but instructions can be found within the tutorial file. ~K
How would Double Brush Poly do for this shirt? I also love your top. What pattern did you use. I have been looking for an elastic neck that drapes down in front, and I like the sleeves also.
Double brushed poly would work perfectly for the Laundry Day Tee pattern! ~K
That’s great. What about the lite pink shirt you had on. What is the pattern you were wearing?
I need that fabric! Will you share how to get it? Love the fabric choice!

I would have liked to see the actual sewing of the top.
Great idea - we actually have a series of sewing courses that you can watch as you sew. In the next year we plan to release a knit top course to take everyone through in great detail :)
@@LoveNotions I have your Aria course.
Good morning do you have a pattern for jogging pants?

My iMac is too old to get the Adobe reader so can I use another PDF reader to achieve the pattern download / printing?
I don't think we've ever come across that problem before. Are you making sure to download the free version? Here is the link: get.adobe.com/reader/ ~K
Print at home
made with neckband face rather than a neckband ;)
oooo! Fun idea!
