Mores Law said that AMD is delaying the launch of the RX 8000 series for next year because they have a large amount of unsold RX 7800 and RX 7900 series graphics cards.
He also says that the price of the 7800X3D went up because they reduced or stopped the production of the 7000 series processors. Because they switched production to 8000 series processors.
The 8800X3D is expected to be released soon.

      Your timestamp titles are wrong.
By the way, the real reason why AMD skipped the High End this gen is because they need the CoWoS allocation at TSMC for MI300 family.
Not to mention that PS5 Pro is RDNA 4.

@@delfinigor First off, the new Ryzen are 9000 series.
Second off, MLID is an idiot.
Lastly, if AMD is to do chiplet GPUs at the moment, they will prioritize MI300.

Personally I'd push those frames in esports titles easily. But when you play AAA titles on high/ultra many games stay under 144 fps.
Although getting something with actually usable HDR is a good point. But if you use the computer for more than gaming, before buying OLED I'd wait for the burn in to improve or a different tech to become affordable that fixes that issue entirely with great latency and HDR

Personally went with the 7900xtx this gen because 1 - AMD seems to age better and it takes me forever to upgrade. The last few generations of AMD GPUs aged really well considering their higher Vram... 2 - When I saw the potential FIRE risk from the 4090 I really didn't care how awesome the card was, and it made me question some other build quality of the whole generation. So I went with AMD. It has been a really solid card so far, and I guess we will see how well it ages. AMD has a lot to catch up for in the AI space and I am my guess is the 7900xtx will age pretty well.

I bought a 2017 Mustang GT with only 8,909 miles on her about a year ago and haven't played or bought any games since. truthfully I stopped gaming for a while prior. I have a 5900X 6800XT combo on a Decent AM4 B550 ASRock Board, in a Phanteks P500A case and have been good with high settings, 4K 60hz gaming to this day.. yeah some of the Newer games I have to go from Ultra to High settings. Or a mix of Medium to High settings.. Like Hogwarts was the last game I paid for and it played great in 4K on high settings, I can't go ultra maxed out 200 FPS but so what. It's All Just A Game... But Finally none of this stuff is cheap anymore.. Back in the Day a Top tear GPU was at the most $300 buck's and now people are paying anywhere from $500 to $2000 plus just for a GPU.. It's nutz.. Anyway I will always have a love for PC's and gaming but I'm done spending over the top money for video games.. No more..

So it is nice to see that this channel is also confirmed that as well with it's own survey. Nobody cares about DLSS/FSR/XeSS. Now let's address the FSR vs DLSS question. FSR and DLSS are virtually indistinguishable at a 4k base resolution. DLSS is the one that looks better at any resolution below that....1440p and 1080p for example but you will have to pixel peep as he said in this video to really find those differences.

In the past AMD GPU's did not even cross my mind, but then Mr. Jason recommended one for my build I was asking about and he was kind enough to look it over and sent me a list. I though this man knows what he is talking about and if he said it was the one to get then I believe him. I'm very happy I did, I'm now team AMD and today I'm using a RX 7900 XT and love it, I upgraded from the 6650 xt he had originally recommended to me. AMD GPU's are the best in my opinion, once you factor in the price, the V-ram and the quality of the GPU. (Ray-Tracing is still a gimmick) I'm lucky enough to be enjoying one, and it is because I listened to what Mr. Jason had to say. I will be using my RX 7900 XT for many years before I start looking for a new GPU.

I think it's preferable to present frametimes in dB like so: 10*log10(frametime/5ms)
Because the 'feel' for everything we else we sense scales logarithmically like that. This shows up particularly that gains at lower frame rates matter much more than the same fps increase when already at high fps.
Which actually helps supports arguments like 'doesn't feel different', which it won't if it's just a couple dB.

As someone who uses cards from both companies. Rx 6800 and rtx 4070 Super. I agree with hardware unboxed, daniel owen and digital foundry that dlss is far better than fsr. You dont have to zoom in to see the difference. Thats done in videos because of youtube compression and frame rates. You can clearly see the disocclusion artifacts, ghosting and shimmering that fsr has. Its the same issues that taa has, but amplified. DLSS quality at 1440p and 4k looks better than native with taa in modern games. Or atleast what we call native. As we never actually see the native base render. It always go through temporal image reconstruction, post processing, denoising, overlays ect before it ever gets to our screens. And that base render isnt the only thing that goes into the dlss image reconstruction. It also uses geometric depth, motion vectors, ect. It basically comes down to if a few filters selected by hand can compete with hardware accelerated AI reconstruction trained with machine learning.
Also far more games that force RT or have upscaling in the recommended speca then there are games that need 12gb of vram at 1440p. Sure a few games you can force over 12gb with ultra settings, rt and at native resolution. But even path traced Cyberpunk at 1440p max settings dlss quality with ray reconstruction uses under 10gb of vram. Using the rx 6800 made me reailze how overstated the vram hysteria is. If i forced it to use over 12gb the game would be so demanding that i only got like 20fps anyway. Using realistic settings to get atleast 60fps i never got close to using (not allocating) 12gb.

I think you and many other have watched these videos and are convinced you'd see the difference, but I think in practice you wouldn't. Maybe I'm wrong and you can, and there are certainly differences, but I think in use the nobody is going to really notice the difference between dlss and fsr without looking with a magnifying glass or having 2 gpus testing side by side all the time. I also think the vram is more a case of wanting more for the money they're charging, which I agree with, I don't think you should pay $400-500 for a GPU with less than 16gb.

When you are upscaling from 1440p to 4K, the differences between FSR and DLSS are probably their least noticeable. I think what everybody is up in arms about is how FSR doesn't really upscale the lower end stuff as well. And really that's their target market. So a more complete answer would be something like "Rendering native on the low end is a better deal with AMD and rendering with upscaling on the high end the difference is minimal."

FWIW my anecdotal experience matches up with your answer too. I have a 1440 ultrawide and i prefer to run at native rendering. My 7900xtx delivers better than 4080 fps in the games i play, and i spent $200 less on it than i would have needed to spend on a 4080, even though i bought on release in December of 22 and got a premium version. That’s why invidia prices won’t go down except for the other mediocre series that they offer. Hate to mention politics but that’s the real lowdown and not just nitpicking races. Indians also do it too because gpu prices are extremely expensive per region there too. The market prices will remain high because someone that we don’t know are buying those high end gpu’s because scalpers in Asia are offloading them. The black markets which once gets to Asia can also be resold as far as to Russia for more money as tech is embargoed. Food for thought gentleman, have a blessed day and take care.

I usually pick up PC Parts in January-February.
There's A LOT of Christmas shopping being done in Romania, and in January, there's A LOT of returns. Some open box deals are considerably cheaper than any promotion or deal you might find throughout the year. And open-box just means someone bought it, used it for a couple days tops, and then returned it. You still get the same warranty and the same return policy.
Most of my parts have been bought like this and I saved up a ton of money.
I'm talking 25-33% price cuts. When was the last time nVidia, AMD or Intel offered a 25% price cut at once (not in the span of years) on something?

I have a 6800XT and to be honest with you. I Love it, and i have no regrets! I bought it in (late) Dec. 2022 and paid $550 for it. This thing will go for two more years (or longer) with no problem. I did my research on computer gaming including with Jason here. I paired it with a 5800X3D cpu on ROG Strix B550 pro WIFI MB. I went all in on AM4 and my system works as well or better than i wanted or expected. I tip my cap to PC Builder for they're advice and guidience, thank you Sir and Ma'am!!

Until this past year, I hadn’t built a pc since 2002, when I was in college. And I had never purpose built a gaming pc. I don’t exactly have any expendable income, but I purchased a RTX 4070 and a RX 7800 XT, in order to gauge what type of GPU I wanted for 1440p gaming. The 7800 XT definitely had much better native resolution frames versus the 4070. However, I ultimately chose the 4070 simply due to my inexperience with configuring driver app settings for specific games. With AMD Adrenalin there was so much more trial and error (even with RUclips tutorials), over the Nvidia app which tuned my in-game settings to my personal specs and/or giving its best recommendations with minimal effort. Afterwards I traded the 7800 XT for a 7900 GRE and put it in my college-aged daughter’s build (who has much more knowledge and experience with fine tuning gaming settings), I placed the 4070 in my teen sons’s build, and I went with a 4070 Super. In the future, as mine and my son’s gaming pc experience increases, we will probably err towards better price-to-performance GPUs from AMD. I’m totally open to criticism or any additional insights from anyone. Thanks! 🤙

I am happy I got the 7800x3d when I did ~6, or 7 months ago. Hopefully it can last me =P I usually did the: make 1 build then completely rebuild in the past, but I got into AM5 for upgradability this time. So I am hoping it can last me until AMD decides to finally ship an x3d with 16 cores that ALL have 3d vcache. With my 7800x3d running at 60watts peak, I can only imagine a 16 core 3d vcache CPU would be running a measly 120ish watts at most. Unless the two separate dies introduces an inefficiency that I am unaware of.

Hello! Thank you for your videos. I'm currently running something about 1.5 yr old build (ryzen 5 5600 + RX 6800xt + 16gb ram). I mostly play CS2 and occasionally some single player AAA titles. The most important for me is to achieve stable 360Hz performance in CS2 - would you prefer building up a new PC and selling the old one (I'm thinking something along the lines of 7800x3d + RX 7900 XT/4080 for the higher end games + leave some room for streaming) or would you keep the old card and just swap the CPU and MB for a new one? :)

Have you ever considered doing builds for DIY low power NAS/Home servers/Gaming servers? I've recently been researching more into data hoarding since more and more companies seem to be of the mindset that they can take away your purchases whenever they want or whenever a contract ends/falls through. I've looked into prebuilt stuff like synology but it all seems pretty expensive for generations old tech. Enough just for mass storage but not for much else. Newer cpus like the 35w Ryzen PRO 8700GE are not available for the everyday consumer so I'm at a loss on what I should be looking for.

If you have some of the budget left after assembling your parts list, should you invest in more powerful components now (e.g. moving up a CPU or GPU tier) to maximize the time you can use your new PC before needing to upgrade, or save the leftover budget and put it towards future upgrades or the next PC?

I reluctantly got an RX 6700XT back during the crypto-bubble nightmare instead of the perpetually sold out RTX 3070 that I wanted because it had "Nvidia" on it. I've been very impressed with the AMD card and I feel like I dodged a bullet with the 3070's VRAM issues. The Nvidia mind share virus has cleared from my brain and I'm comfortable going with either AMD or Nvidia depending on what makes the most sense for a given price point in the future.

There’s a difference between “non-budget” and “money is no object” builds. Regardless of how much better DLSS is over FSR (and frankly I don’t think it’s that much better, it’s just fanboy logic to argue otherwise), it still makes sense to pick AMD simply for cost to performance.
Look, a 4080 Super is $1k, but a 7900XTX which has faster rasterization and more VRAM can be gotten for $900 right now. Save that $100 for salmon treats for our generous host -->

I feel like you're the only sensible tech commenter. I bought a 6900xt after prices normalized, and I'm extremely happy with the performance for the price I paid. Also, I never turn on FSR. Why bother when all the games I want to play run plenty fast enough native?
I'm sure at some point I'll use it in certain titles. But I'm also sure that I won't be crying that it's not DLSS. Also, I literally don't care about Ray tracing. Just give me higher old school rasterization performance because I'm always targeting max fps anyway.

I want the most FPS for my budget, but the card being generally reliable is number 2! crashes due to driver problems, or cords melting is not something I want to worry about. Some people stick to nvidia because they perceive Nvidia as more reliable even if that isn't true.

    Hey jason, thanks for replying.
    1. Yes vastly, my bad.
    2. I guess Im just super sensitive to picture quality then? I compared both with and DLSS looks much better than FSR for my taste to a degree where no VRAM or price decrease would rescue me from FSRs picture quality. The german PC hardware magazine did a test a while back letting the testers blind test the differences between all upscalers and the more experienced testers immediately called out FSR for smearing, shimmering and ghosting. But i understand your point, thats preference how big of a deal it is for the individual gamer.
