Thanks for watching!
Probably the coolest EV out there. At least a lot cooler than the Cybertruck.
And Hyundai develops their cars on The Nürburgring. They literally have a Testing Center close to it. Which is why they can race on the track for long times without heating up.
Hats off for Hyundai!
Yeah hats off for not fixing the sound of 100 acorns bouncing around in the trunk.
its built to be able to track all day, does 2 laps on the ring and recharges in 20 mins for another lap. not bad
Happy Ionic 5N owner here. This vehicle is a blast! Not only fun to drive but also a reliable family suv that can seat 5, with lots of room for luggage. But mash the pedal (especially in Sport mode with the NGB button pressed and watch out!) I have absolutely smoked my share of Mustang GT's, Carmaros, Challengers and more. My car does not have any rear hatch rattle and is dead quiet over bumpy roads. I get around 237 miles on a full charge, but normally only charge it to 80% to extend battery life. Every morning I get excited knowing that I get to drive it to work. If I had to pick on any dowsides, and I am being nit-picky here, is that the seats are a little tight around my back (my wife does not like how they are too hard compared to her Audi Q7 and that they hold her too tightly). Secondly, the audio system is so-so compared to our Q7 - it could use some speakers on the dashboard and upper front doors. Other than those nit-picks, this is my most favorite car I have ever owned. Great job Hyundai!
If you open the back trunk, you'll find rubber on the light. If you attach sound-absorbing tape to it, it'll sort of solve the noise in the trunk😊
To be fair it's a bit early to say it is reliable
Awesome car. I applaud Hyundai for trying to make a fun EV
The exterior of the Ioniq 5 looks awesome. Credits to Hyundai for developing such an amazing vehicle.
Pretty much everyone who's reviewed this has only had great things to say, and i can see why. It's so dam quick & she handles getting chucked around incredibly well at almost 5k lbs. Quite refreshing to see just how much R&D and effort really went into a car like this, no doubt a bunch of proper gearheads made it their primary goal to put the enthusiasts at the front of the conversation for once. Something we don't really see a whole lot anymore specifically in "affordable" production vehicles, let alone an EV. Personally the coolest aspects for me would be all the drive mode tweaking & torque dist, and the ICE mimicking.. Specifically the gear shifts/redline and the torque band/acceleration depending on gear/rpm, cmon how cool is that! And "N-Grin Boost", a bit of imitation NOS if you will, I dig that. I agree w/u on the artificial noise, "ignition" is the best option but only at lower revs & runoff. Above 4k all my mind hears is Atari Pole Position
🏎 🏁 I'm sure they'll be sending some OTA or downloadable sound packs in the future. Looking forward to your GT63E review, stay safe 🫡
Except Mark from Savagegeese.
All of these EVs don't deserve to be called "she." Call this stupid car they/them.
@@faheemabbas3965 and me.. this thing is awful lol

As a Dad, I see the positive side in the fakeness: my kids WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE a fighter jet noise to go with that insane acceleration. Just imagine the fun they would have. And let’s not kid each other: us as well! #DestroyMiatasWithSonicBoom
Lol you’re dreaming if you think this “destroys” Miata.

@@sebastianheine378 It's a SavageGeese reference.
Savagegeese put this thing in its place…you can fake a lot of things, but you can’t fake size and weight.
Brudda u are not spending 70k on a performance SUV for your kids just buy a highlander 😭
what an incredibly unique design this car has, this seems to be the future.
All the reviewers knocking the fake engine sounds and shifting sounds, I don't get it. What's wrong with using technology to have fun. You can turn it off if you don't like it. Criticizing something you're not even stuck with sounds ridiculous.
Because it sounds like something straight out of a SNES game.
Ppl love to complain
It sounds atrocious. They didn't even bother to try.
@@thearousedeunuchwho's done a better ev for fun driving and performance with a warranty that includes track driving?
@@cyruslad5462 I'm complaining about the sound, not the car itself. The car itself is great.
I experienced this car on the Nürburgring with the Hyundai N Ring Taxi, and it's insanely fast. The feeling of the simulated engine adds a lot of sensation on the track. However, the fake 'ignition' sound isn't perfect, it feels a bit like an old video game. But if this car represents the early stage of performance EVs, it's a positive sign for the coming years.
an actually good EV. finally
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is not just a normally enhanced rally car. It could be a comfortable family car, a taxi, or a camping car.
Without the engine sound it's difficult to get a sense of how fast you are going.
No, it isn't. Look at the gauge cluster. There's your speed.
@@thearousedeunuch I'll be sure to stare at the guage cluster while accelerating to 120mph rather than keep my eyes on the road.
@@burtyful1 It's almost like speed is a huge number, on a screen placed near your POV, so that you can very quickly glance at it without taking your eyes off the road.
Been waiting for this review! Perfect video again!
"there really isn't anyone home for the first two inches of travel" - thats what she said. Man I want this car, I had an Ioniq 5 limited, great car with good torque but not enough driver engagement for me for a daily, I have a tuned Elantra N manual trans now and its a riot so I can imagine how good that Ioniq 5 N is to drive
The Ioniq 5N's a super EV with the appearance of a family car that can complete the Nuremberg circuit three times without modification.
Still one of the few EVs I'd consider buying battery 🔋
600 HP is insane in such an unassuming car
Even $67,000.
LOL let's be real it's not that unassuming... @@이프리-i8t
Unassuming? This thing looks like it hits triple flip resets in rocket league
not at 5000lbs its not.
If I were to buy an EV, this is the one I'd pick. A really solid car from everything I see and hear.
Honestly I went to the OC Auto show today in Anaheim. I was able to go on a test ride in this car. I have to say I am very impressed with this ev
I watched with my mouth open, saying 'Wow.' It's an amazing car!
that turn when you took it tight at like 65 is amazing and the sound when you speed up sound more amazing! wow! and its 100% electric thats amazing!, this is a good familly car and im 23 bro this insane i would get this, ngl and the music sound in the car sounds amazing as well wow! i can feel the base in my headphone also i can hear the electric moter is sounds like a boost/nitro botton when speeding from going slow amazing video bro! that fake burble sounds amazing! i love the sound when it make when you shift it its sooo good!
It’s probably one of the best EV’s out there. Thanks for the great drive. I just have not been sold on EV’s (outside of Tesla) not because I am a huge fan of Tesla, but I know if I run out of range, I can find a charging station. Hopefully once all the Tesla Stations can charge other EV’s things will change. Thanks again!
I finally saw one on the road for the first time yesterday! I wasn't surprised it was in Atherton, the town of billionaires, because the owner must've paid 100k for it. Every local dealer that has one has a 20k markup on it lol.
It's worth noting those tire delaminations mentioned in relation to the press track day are a known failure mode of Pirelli tires. Beat on them too hard when doing something like burnouts, donuts, or drifting (especially with quite so much torque) and that's how they fail.
Sport tyres are not build for 2300 kg cars , that's all
@@ocoet3575 This is objectively false. There are plenty of them that are either specifically designed for the purpose, or otherwise overall accommodate vehicles of this weight. I would know, I’ve spent time looking at the weight ratings on tires. Most of what goes into a higher weight tire is more sidewall material, which isn’t inherently antithetical to sporty driving.
@@krispyywombat7382 I heard many people struggling to find good tyres for heavy cars . the usual p zeros or Michelin pilots sports the really sticky ones are not meant for cars this heavy
If you open the back trunk, you'll find rubber on the light. If you attach sound-absorbing tape to it, it'll sort of solve the noise in the trunk😊
15:06 that minivan overtake was brutal😂
Also, that looks like a really fun onramp for some safe "hooligan" activies
This vehicle would be perfect if it was $10,000 less. With dealer adjustments being added and terrible lease deals, it's just not an option for a lot of people who would sign the paperwork immediately. I do give Hyundai a lot of credit for the way they added sound inside the cabin vs outside with a speaker like Dodge did.
You get a $7,500 ev credit for taxes. So by your criteria, it’s $2,500 more that what you would like it to be.
$70k all said and done is alot for the guy who just wants a quick EV.
The new highland Tesla is around $50k and is plenty quick in a straight line
Alot of the markups are gone now. Ive been seeing them advertised as under msrp, but there probably needs to be an asterisk cuz dealers will do dealer things right? But i do think having msrp at 60k and then tax rebates ontop of that would make it a better sell to average buyers looking for a performance EV
I wish BMWs were about $20,000 less expensive, because they are so expensive to maintain.
When you go to the Cadillac dealer you don't tell the salesman, if It was priced like the Chevy you would buy it. You look foolish.
Million dollar question, Topher: is it more fun than the Kona N?
I ALMOST bought one after making a deposit, but my dealer decided theyd rather add a $20k "asset adjustment." I took my deposit back and walked; the Ioniq still sits on their lot 4 months later. I bought a manual Bronco instead, and have no regrets.
These greedy dealers think the "COVID markup" is still legit. This is all coming to a head soon. Lots of those salesmen will be laid off and in really bad shape. But until then...they can play those games and have a car sit on their lot.
The price is a barrier for me. As an enthusiast it probably fits 98% of my driving but the weight and 10/10th dynamics in a highly technical autocross is still a question mark.
Always liked these rocket league cars 🤣
Love your videos bro, great representation ❤
If the resale is as terrible as other EVs, it would be worth getting in a few years at $20k-$30k
Yeah the price tag will severely hurt the sales of this car. I would never pay 68k for it, especially considering the depreciation it will have.
That trunk rattle is the only gripe with this car. Interior rattles drive me insane, especially more so if I just dropped $68k on a new car! I hope Hyundai have a recall to fix this issue
The mechanical simulation this car is capable of is awesome. The fact that Gran Turismo 3 had better car sounds than this does is shameful in this day in age. GT7 and Forza Motorsport have some really good sounds for their cars, I bet a partnership with either developer would work wonders! There's also a lot of tech that can let you emulate the physical vibrations for an engine. Not to keep going back to GT, but they did some cool stuff with that in the PS5 controllers!
a little over 200 mile range is kind of a bust for me idk
I applaud Hyundai for trying to make EVs less boring. It’s comforting to know I’ll be able to have at least a little fun pretending to shift gears when the governments ban ICEs.
This is the kind of cyber we want.... unlike the Cybertruck
This needs to be hybrid and actually make those engine and exhaust noises this would sound amazing as a hybrid
I would love to drive one of these
The only electric car I'd buy tbh
2025 is the FUTURE
i respect them for making a boring thing "fun" but its WAY too expensive for its target demographic, and they already make a very competent fun daily driver for HALF as much, and even with an ICE its still efficient enough (elantra N)
Where is the 2024 Elantra N?? I really want to see you review that car!
I like this Chanel
Are they comfortable to sit in on long drives?
I would take this over the new c8 in a heartbeat. I LOVE hatchbacks. 100k mile warranty too so. Wouldn't take it over a Zora or a ZR1 though. Definitely wouldn't take it over a c7 though.
so now what you think mate this hyundai ioniq 5 or the kia ev6 you tried before?,
i want the car to be comfortable and very grippy on corners and fast so i can go nuts sometimes,
i'm trying to get my hand on a test drive here in jordan, we don't have great roads here really!!
Pretty cool!
Too complicated for this old man (75); I am keeping my 2017 Camry LE! RogerC 10/5/24
🔥2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.💪🏼😍
👍🏻👌🏼😎
I do appreciate all these fake stuff as they can be switched off if you don't like them, which is not the case with most of the ICE vehicles.
Yes i do love the sweet sound of V8s and the pop of dual-clutch transmissions, but a cool sounding EV is interesting in it's own right.
Im sorry but i love the Evolution sound in my i5N
It looks like you're getting around 260-ish indicated range on your drive, is that from a 100% charge?
Next year (2025-2026) is coming more powerful Hyundai Ioniq 6 N. 😎
I think the fake engine noises would be way cooler if they let you upload your own sounds to it, just lean fully into the novelty of it and let people goof around
I legitimately dig the direction Hyundai is going with this EV, but it's still way, way, way too heavy, expensive, complicated, and gimmicky. I think in a generation or two, I would absolutely consider one, but all these cars are like tech demos to me right now.
The second N mode button is by default set to N E-Shift which are the fake gears. You can go into the settings and remap the button to N custom 2. It’s not all that complicated when you spend ten minutes trying to understand the car you’re driving. I know, it’s soooo much work…right? 😂
Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one that pointed this out... Hyundai even has its own video explaining what each mode does. It takes, like, two minutes to both look that up on RUclips AND skip to the relevant part of that video.
Cool EV. And probably more reliable than Hyundai's ICE powerplants. Buy this as a CPO pre-owned vehicle and save alot of money.
Probably the most intriguing EV on the market for enthusiasts right now. I just need to know HOW they picked such terrible sounding engine simulation? Literally no name modders for Assetto Corsa put out better sound mods. It doesn't make any sense coming from an OEM with OEM resources. Why not get samples from their ICE N line of cars?
That semi was left in the dust.
🤔
matt bronze rims would suit better.
That hatch rattle is nuts for the price
Hyundai Kia are killing it!!!
Savagegeese made some interesting points that EVERY single reviewer missed.
Most tracks don't have fast charging chargers available.
You don't see many youtubers driving these to the limit because the nannies are excessive once you get close.
The torque vectoring is brake induced
Agree on the charging availability at the track, disagree on the nannies.
Okay the power is insane but I cannot get over how ugly it looks to me 😞 Maybe I'll grow to like these EVs one day.
The future is bleak my friends
That door card design is awful
Ionic 5n wow
Wait till the 6N comes out. That will be a lot more aero efficient, lower CG, lighter and smaller.
bros driving crazy
just like me
5:35 It could sound A LOT better. They didn't even try. It's embarrassing.
Edit: The car itself is cool, though.
$66k without markup for 220mi of range?? Jesus ain't that a huge waste of money on top of an already boring to drive car. Needs vroom! No buy. Car go vroom vroom now. Make engine.
14:04 Savagegeese would like to say no at that part.
god the engine noises are so stupid. also, why are we still getting surprised by how quick electric cars are?
This thing sounds so ugh 😭 sticking with my gasoline
This is a cool car but 2300 kg of weight is really too much,is fast accelerating but slow in turns and if u put a good sport tyres they wil be gone in 3000 km
For track use is even worse from a full charge u can get maybe 80 km and the tyres they can be gone in a single session
A cool car but not for enthusiasts
220 mile range is…atrocious.
I like it it’s just waaaay too expensive. It’s better than model 3 performance but not $13k better ($20.5k more with tax rebate).
Sounds like Topher really wasn’t impressed, kinda of a meh sort of feeling.
Those fake sounds are just to cheesy imo.
haha this car is cool but the engine noise is so cringe, it just feels so wrong forcing everyone around you to listen to your artificial noises on an EV😅
for all the haters, please drive lexus or toyota because high performance car like this is out of your budget and your level of driving skills.
A few things to note:
The fake audio isnt convincing enough. IMO its the only thing that needs serious improvement to be convincing.
2. This sounds better or as good as MANY REAL gas cars. Cars like the civic type R sound like DOGSHIT but no one claims. Id take this car over a Type R for that teason alone because one of the few things I like a about my v8 or any gas cars is sound. Id certainly rather here this ioniq 5 than even many turbo 6 cylinder cars...
3. The fake gearshift and stuff is VERY convincing. Even most gearheads wouldnt realize if they were blindfolded
4. The weight is still a bit noticeable. Then again a X3M weighs 4500lbs are so and both perform almost identically in a straight line and around a track
So this is proof that we don't like serious driving machines anymore, and that we are perfectly OK with fake noises and cool noises. Might as well just build a fast little tykes at this point lol
For 70k they can't make the fake noises better? They are so unbelievably bad.
Seems ridiculous to me Little range - too much technology- interior looks plastic
I bet on Hyundai and Kia to beat that foolish Elon guy.
Ridiculous review, complaining about the car hitting "red line" - it's an EV that's designed to be like a ICE, so bouncing off the red line is part of the fun.
I forgot to mention that you could've easily found out what each N button does in about two minutes. They're both configurable to whatever you want. Why are car reviewers so lazy?

70 grand for a hyundia is insane
Is it me or does the exhaust sound like a toilet flushing? 🤔
For 68k idk about this lol. Tesla still wins. More affordable and just as quick
