I almost jumped out of my computer chair when I saw you guys announced this car. I myself was looking at the feasibility of kitbashing one or two of them. Will definitely get 2 and maybe 3 of them.
The same thing happened to me. Was kitbashing Conrail G41 coil cars from 3D printed parts and then a week later I get an email from Tangent that they are doing them. So I ordered a bunch of 3D printed parts for no reason. So I decided that I am going to cut them up and splice them together to make the PRR prototype car they are based on instead. Love you guys at Rapido and cannot wait for the Conrail OCS fleet E8 soon. Gonna be awesome is an understatement I think!
How would that work out ? The Hornby coaches are going to be 4mm/ft, vs 3.5mm if in HO. It would seem easier to just start from scratch than try to undertake that kind of change.
That's how I felt when Bowser announced SD40-2F 3/4 of the way through my Kalso build and when you announced the CN Slug towards the end of my MLT slug build. It's like you're watching us all....

I modified an Athearn SD-9 to make an SP SD-7 with the barrel light - i happened to choose #5322, but that was quite a while ago. Still have it. But mine is in the tiger stripe w/silver ends scheme, and has SD-7 step wells (i cut out the steps except the bottom one). You *ARE* going to remove that extra step, right? The one that shows up in your CAD render? (Unless it's some road number-specific detail...) Yeah, not gonna crush it, though. I just ordered another road number instead.

Oh, the occasional frustrating moment when you realize that you’ve lost exclusivity for a particular item when those hosers bring out that model and it makes yours look tacky…

I built the Kaslo kit, with some other parts, to make the Fepasa model, and then Scaletrains released them even in Fepasa colours, wth 2 different numbers, and now they are going to release 2 more, including a new scheme. But main difference here is I'm not even thinking about to destroy my model, why in hell I would do that? Anyway I love your stuff, but I don't think you're ever going to release a chilean model of whatever. (I hope I'm wrong hehe)

So if i build Newfoundland railway equipment in HOn42 rapido will make it too.. lets see em prove me wrong and also offer it in HOn3 Its not like those new NYC/CN covered hoppers had a series of 15 road numbers built solely for use on newfoundland with modern NG trucks… wouldn’t it be great to ruin a kitbash by releasing that with the correct NG truck and road number
I too would love to see them release the covered hoppers with the NFLD markings on them, they could even have standard gauge trucks since the trucks were changed out on the rock. It would be even cooler is they offered it in narrow gauge trucks, or sell the NG trucks separate.
I’m almost finished with my Ej&e sd18, I sure hope that know one makes sd18s. Or a SDM I put weeks upon weeks of work and research into the two I just finished. It would be a shame if a good and competent model train manufacturer like Rapido made them
So what has it been - 3 straight months of only HO scale announcements, and now Jeremy is playing with HO stuff... I think that was the last horsemen... Rapido's leaving the N scale market... Jeremy's conversion to HO was clearly the last straw.
I sure hope not. I'm still waiting patiently for an Amtrak F40PH for them in N. You know since Kato clearly doesn't care about anything earlier than 2010.

I personally like the box cars with the Slanted roofs more than the flat boring roofs of the Hi-Cube Box Cars. Also, that Poor POOR Kit Bash Box Car. It didn’t deserve such a fate. It could have served well with the Rapido Box Cars. But no, it had to be dismantled. What a waste of Money.
So if I want something made by a proper company, then just kitbash it and then you guys will make it 😂. In all seriousness I do like kit-bashing though…

I just kitbashed the entire VIA Rail Renaissance fleet in N and HO. Ball is in your court Rapido.
Seriously? The only Rennaissance models I've seen were kit bashed from Hornby Mark 4 coaches.

I could never do that to my rolling stock! I'd salvage anything from a bad derailment but never deliberately destroy anything.
Modern problems require modern solutions.
I built several RS23 and BCR RS18s so far Rapido hasn't built those, and doubt ever will.

They have different types. The first 20 or so are the former CPs that were originally BNs. Some are former IC highcubes.
No these 60ft combo door boxcars are still in service today. Seen all over in Canada, the US and also down into Mexico from time to time.
