The luckiest thing in left 4 dead 2 that has ever happened to me

this might be because that surface was a ramp, and due to source physics you were kinda surfing it and it means ypu haven't landed on a flat surface or off a ledge for the smoker to start damaging you... not sure why the tongue broke though

I think it breaks automatically if you go too long without the smoker damaging you

@@bananatie-j5y It does, but only if certain criteria are met (I don't know what they are) which would cause the smoker's tongue to break within 10 to 15-ish seconds. You can sort of tell when the criteria is met when you're not being delt damage and when that typical looming red light is replaced with blank white one. (the light is a pretty big indicator and if it's red, then the tongue won't break and the survivor will be choked indefinitely until saved.)

I think that this happens because the Smoker decides to let you go, he is not hurting you therefore he is not fulfilling his function, the hanging music should play in that case.
You can check that by spawning a Smoker from the console and you get in the air the noclip.
