    I had been trying to give up or reduce for years, your book helped me to do the 3 days I needed to get on to antabuse and from then on I simply cant drink so no matter what the voice in your head is saying its not louder than being incredibly sick, so I take the pill in the morning when Im positive and then later on when the cravings come Im locked in. In fact I can drink for at least 7 days after taking this stuff so I would actively have to plan to drink and thats where your book helps in those sensible periods when Im feeling that I can do this and so I take the pill the next day. Im now at 60+ days, I cant say the cravings have gone, Im not feeling significantly better, I would still love a drink sometimes but its slowly getting better. I guess Im one of those people that needs their hands tied so I cant do something. So far so good, I do hope it gets easier within a reasonable time. PS I have found doing a jigsaw for 15-20min when I get a craving completely takes my mind off it, might be useful for others.

      It's certainly a process but it seems like you're putting all the pieces in place to allow you to be successful. Celebrate that and the fact that you are working so hard for your freedom!

      I also use antabuse as well, its my life saver! I think the same thing I have 7 days I have to wait before I can drink, what do I need to do to stop those thoughts! Hopefully before 7 days I have taken another pill and so on! Naltrexone did nothing for me but the antabuse like no way would I ever even try to drink on that!

      @@doradordanielle5746 Good on you, Im now 18mths dry and don't need to take it any more,. I reduced it down to once a week or when I felt like a drink would be a good idea at around 6mths and after 12mths didn't even think about taking one so keep it up as long as you need I definitely recommend them for those who are not tempted to try drinking on them.

    It has been 2 years now, with zero alcohol, and, yes, it did just fade away. Unfortunately, I had a health crisis (unrelated to alcohol), and that, as well as my body rejecting it very strongly, in the form of anxiety hang overs, that were pretty darn awful. Those were my built in Antabuse. Sometimes we are desperate for an escape- or to just feel good again! So, rather than judging that, I try to set up a lifestyle that meets that need. And it can be a whole bunch of little things to reward / pamper yourself. All of these preferences are different for everyone, some of mine are: supplements like magnesium, very soft p.j.'s or clothing,
    laying down while listening to calming music or a podcast, eating food that is healthy, and that I really enjoy, getting my house deep cleaned, incense & candles. Alcohol is doing one big thing to cope, but the little hacks I mentioned help you feel good in the moment, and don't trash you the next day. Also, if you're drinking heavily, it's hard to appreciate my smaller hacks.

    Ive been trying to be a responsible drinker these past couple months. I love to drink and am not ready to quit entirely. Maybe one day. I dont drink when i have a bad day. I try for one or two days a week. Typically thrusday, friday or saturday. I try to limit to six drinks. I have a hard time stopping once i start. Always been that way. I try to eat healthy and drink lots of water everyday. Stay busy with work and weekly activities. Next step is to only drink in a social setting and not on my back porch alone posting commments on youtube. Some weeks are better than others. But im trying to improve for myself and my family.

      I could have written your post, because that is almost exactly my situation. I used to only drink with friends, and now I almost always drink by myself on my patio, maybe once or twice a week, usually only planning on having a few, but mostly drinking for hours. Good luck!!!!

      Moderation is pure Hell. weve all tried it only drinking at weekends , aonly drinking when going out your just thinking about the next drnk all the time .that's no way to live your life .completely stopping is a whole lot easier than Moderation

    And what if my issue is drinking being a compulsion? This is the problem I struggle with. I walk to the door, put my shoes on. Take them off & go sit back down. And I have done this a dozen times in an hour. It's me trying to fight myself. Because I don't feel I want to. I've never had physical, bodily addiction.

      It's a very long process to get a book published in another language. First a publishing house would need to be interested and begin that process!
