No permit needed for the trail. However, the island had floods a year ago that damaged roads and trails. It took a year to repair. Now, Kauai requires a reservation to get into the park where the trailhead begins. It's their way of limiting visitors. It's an iconic trail and shouldn't be missed if you are into hiking and visiting Kauai. The 4 miles is just one part. There is an extension that makes the trail about 11 miles one way. That route includes some very dangerous sections along high cliff faces.
@@HelpMeFindTheseSongs Check out this site. dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/home/haena-napali-access/ If you are renting a car on the island (highly recommend), you'll need the ability to park in Haena park, the state park where the trail begins. You CAN just get a pedestrian pass, but you'll need to take a shuttle then to get into the park. Shuttle service from Princeville is possible. That's a resort area about 2-3 miles away. If you haven't been to Kauai before, I can give you a few more tips if you want to Email. There are some really cool spots not to miss, but the Na'Pali coast you can access from this park is like the crown jewel. Some other cool things to see: - Kalalau Lookout (amazing) - Queen's Bath (Princeville) - Secret Beach (awesome) - Sleeping Giant hike - Old Koloa Town (shopping/food)
Do people need a permit to hike this four-mile trail??
