- New Coke, the most hated drink in history, is being re-released to coincide with the new season of "Stranger Things." The upcoming season, which debuts on Netflix on July 4, is set in 1985, the same year New Coke debuted, so the producers thought it only made sense for the kids to be drinking it. Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of "Stranger Things," came up with the promotional idea, which Coca-Cola loved. The company decided to resurrect the ill-fated beverage for a new generation. #InsideEdition
If it doesn't work the first time, just try it again 34 years later.

Hayden Maslar there is a coca based liqueur called Aqwa.....its kinda like sweet NyQuil, green colored....although the chemicals that contain cocaine have been removed, it still has a euphoric effect....as for adding cocaine to coke it lowers the carbonation and has a throat numbing property and a subtle stimulant effect without all of the sniffles or alcohol content that can lead to a DUI/DWI . Aqwa on the other hand mixes well with Redbull!!

As someone who has a Dad who grew up in the 80s I can tell you..........he said it tasted like Pepsi.

I remember that when they brought back the "original flavor" a lot of people said it didn't taste the same. Probably because the real original flavor used cane sugar instead of corn syrup. It gave Coke more of a "bite" instead of the cloying blandness of corn syrup. Cokes made in some other countries (like Mexico) still use sugar. I think that plastic bottles (instead of glass) also alter the flavor a bit--but that could just be my perception. One store where I live sells Cokes from Mexico--with cane sugar and in glass bottles--but it costs more.
Weird? I enjoy both coke and Pepsi so I probably would’ve enjoyed new coke.

New Coke being bad was done on purpose. Coca-Cola wanted to stop using real sugar and move over too much cheaper syrup type sweetener but obviously that wouldn't ever go over well because people would notice it. So they come out with new Coke and people hate it. They keep it around long enough in order to switch over to the syrup sweetener and they bring back the "old" Coke and no one noticed.
