My parents gave it to me in a baby bottle every day when i was only a baby.. in Brazil, 30 years ago there was a belief that Coca Cola could prevent and treat diseases and that's why parents gave their children Coca Cola. Today I'm 35 years old, I have autoimmune diseases and digestive problems associated with the consumption of Coca Cola but I can't stop drinking it. Today coca cola is very expensive in Brazil, so we are forced to drink imitations of Coca Cola whose ingredients are even worse. This is a common reality in underdeveloped countries

Sparkling water on the shelves is nothing like homemade (using a soda stream). What I do is I get crangrape or any other juice and mix it with the sparkling water (at a ratio of like 1:4). Tastes like soda but actually healthier.

As a Mexican myself, I agree that Coke is EVERYWHERE. Every local grocery store has a Coca Cola sign, that's how they're located. If you enter any household and there's not at least one empty Coke bottle, then that means you gotta go buy one or else you won't have a drink for lunch time. The most popular 20L water jugs are from the same company as well, I myself buy them and also have an almost empty 2L coke bottle. It's common to reward hard working people with a big coke bottle so they can hydrate themselves

As someone with so many family members with diabetes in Mexico. I’d have to say lack of education pertaining to nutrition, and poverty go hand in hand. My family also thought diabetes was just genetic. But telling family members to stop drinking coke seemed like an offense because it’s something we’re so accustomed to. From going to the closest mini market, the taco stand close by or a party. You’ll most likely see a stack of coke bottles. Even with the labels they have on all the packaging it’s hard to inform family how devastating it can be to their health in the long run. In general most foods we eat are heavy. There’s no balance with fruits or vegetables. My grandpa passed away from diabetes before I was born. My father is prediabetic. I used to be prediabetic and after getting rid of unhealthy food I’m not no longer at risk.

Coca cola's greed? No. It's your choice, people can choose to buy water instead of coke and coca-cola will benefit even more when people buying Ciel water instead of coke. It's cost even less to produce water bottle compare to coke.
Also, blame your government as well, what are their actions? Instead of educating people about the bad side of Coke they Increase sugar tax, because more tax benefit the government while educating people cost real resource and money. I see people in video believe diabetes cause by anger in the family instead of the sugar in coke, and coke even take a role in their spiritual life, I can see either the government's effort to educate people failed or they don't even put any effort into that at all. And after the news of government instead of solving the root problem like wiping crime lord/cartel that cause harm to their lemon farmer all they can do is send police to protect the farmers. And that Alien thing few month ago, I have reason to doubt this government.

Hi Tyler, I'm Mexican and big fan of your content for a while and just wanted to thank you for your exceptional journalism. The video is gruesome but very true just as when I went to California and in some restaurants sold Mexican Coke as a premium in comparison to the American version due to its higher sugar content. The Coke situation in Mexico reflects a broader situation in Mexico, where Coca-Cola consumption is widespread, even though the problem might not be as acute as in regions like Chiapas with limited infrastructure or water access. I also want to commend you on your Spanish dude. You sweetened the video with it, no punch intended. You clearly show an effort to connect with the local people and portraying this faithfully.
Best regards and a big thank you from Mexico. Keep up the fantastic work, Tyler. Your reporting makes a difference. If you ever wish to return, you always have a home there. Greetings from your Southern neighbor.

I visited my family in Mexico this past Christmas, my grandma invited us to dinner one night and I decided to bring some drinks and because I don't drink any soda, I got a 2 Lt bottle for them to enjoy and the whole family chugged it down like in a minute! Then they sent a kid to get more coca cola and they bought two 3lt bottles and finished the whole thing right away again. I was shocked!!!. I even heard several relatives say how much they hate drinking water and that. Coke is better. They are live Ina very hot place so I don't get why they don't like water???
