Corellon was so furious at his lover's betrayal and not only was she turned into Lolth, she, her son were exiled and her daughter who volunteered in her exile. Not only were they exiled, but *ALL* elves were expunged from their original realm as Corellon closed his domain as he had major trust issues, suspecting that if his lover could do this, what would his people, his elves do to him? So thats why Elves started popping up in the world as you explained. Found your channel a while back, and been happily watching ever since 😀
As a new DM these video's help me and my pc's to better understand the history behind The forgotten realms. Keep it up looking forward to seeing more video's.
Just watched the first 4 creation story videos. You do some great work man. Not only have you saved me an insane amount of time but your content is genuinely fun and entertaining to watch. Thanks alot, keep it up!
The Dragons pretty much dominate the Dawn Age, despite the war with the giants. In fact the Dawn Age is also called the "Time of Dragons". It ends because the elves create the Dracorage Mythal and end the rule of the dragons thus bringing forth the next age "The First Flowering" , which is pretty much the Age of Elves where the first/second Sundering takes place, Evermeet is created, the Crown Wars also take place during that age. All that to say, yeah, the Elves end the Dawn Age :). It also explains why dragons can never again rule Faerun. Note, the Dracorage Mythal is destroyed in the Year of Rogue Dragons ... so technically a new dragon age could/should be on the horizon, but Bahamuts followers would do anything to prevent it.
Second sundering isn't during the first flowering. The second sundering doesn't happen till post spell plague and the first sundering is when Ao spilt Abeir and Toril. Your thinking of the crown wars and first and second flowerings which I often mistook to once
as a historian I have to say besides your rather entertaining than scientific methodes, the idea to talk about events rather than dates and names is pretty close to real-world history studies and lectures. If you would add more reasoning (like why did who do what to whom) it would be on an Extra Credit level.
@@royriley6282 I am not quite sure what you are referring to? I actually only watch like 50 to 60% of their Extra History stuff and it is almost exactly what you would hear in an entry level course of an university.
@@royriley6282 of course considering they have to be entertaining and compelling as well. There is obviously a lot of pathos, too, which I am not very fond of, but still, professionally done.
@@royriley6282 yea and then he goes to defend it in his next comment saying “it is almost exactly what you would hear in an entry level course of an university.” That’s the point, and that’s why it’s wrong. History is made subjective when people assume reasons behind actions. Oh and he said “an university” which leads me to believe he doesn’t know what he’s talking about because it’s 1st grade English to know you use ‘a’ and ‘an’ based on the sound of the word, not the vowel.
Congrats man! You make tons of hours of information a simple thing. I'm from Argentina and I couldn't find any decent material about history of the Forgotten Realms in spanish. I play Neverwinter in PS4 and It's amazing how they captured this great world. Thanks a lot!
These videos are so great. I loved your "planes" series, and am very much enjoying these Forgotten Realms entries. I've actually never played D&D, but I probably have owned pretty much all the books at one time or another (from 1st edition to 5th) - I just like the lore, the writing, and artwork, so these videos are right up my alley. Thank you!
Dude I love your videos so much you're so funny but you phrase stuff so well as well, thank you so much for doing what you're doing and keep going bro!
I'm enjoying this series very much. I would love to see you do a video series on the rise and fall of TSR and the products linked to it. Thank you keep up the good work
3 clarifications; -Gnomes do not show up yet (first experience Netheral), -The dragon Age ends because the elves create a powerful magic item that drives all dragons insane, llolth has nothing to do with it, or the rest of the elves until the after the Sundering Orcs have there fist first experience in FR in this time (they sack an elven city). the orcs have several first appearances (Like the Orc gate wars, and a conflict between sword cost north and red wizards) all of these where ret-coned to make sense wit each other. I though it was known as the Colossal Kingdom because it was inhabited by " Colossal" people (called that by later races)
I dont know, this sounds pretty accurate to me. Plus, its all not real so maybe so everything can happen as you want it to. I think maybe the Gnomes did show up and this point, and they arrived driving VW bugs.....could have happened. Keep up the good work Jorphdan!
It's super funny that he confidently pronounces Araushnee wrong but was afraid to pronounce Angharradh even though he got closer to correct on that one haha 😆
I've only recently started to become acquainted with Forgotten Realms via Baldurs Gate and the Drizzt books, and while those have some in-game resources to help understand the setting, this series is helping with more of the flavor that they miss or don't have room for.
There was time between the waning age of enchantment and the dawning age of logic when dragons flew the skies, free and unencumbered. Look down there Gorbash, my friend. On the top of the earth below us, confusion and chaos reign. All mankind is facing an epic choice: a world of magic or a world of science. Which will it be? I'm weeping.
I honestly don't care if it becomes a boring history lecture for some people. That's what people say the Silmarillion is, and I have read that 3 times.
So - Looks like smashing the LIKE button is the thing to do. A little OCD here so I can only do that in multiples of prime numbers. Trying hard here bruh, but loving the content.
This lore is so confusing, now I know why there is not ONE book to read all the lore summary prepared for us. Wizards of the coast simply have lost track of their own I guess :D
Great series, really giving me some great depth on the history of FR. I have a paladin who believes he is Bahamut reborn, so I'm gonna have him have flashbacks of key moments in history
Hahaha, some of the names that you find difficult to pronounce in english, are quite easy to pronounce in portuguese (I know cause I'm brazilian). Just saying.
“I thought this would be awesome and make these videos really interesting but I think it’s just going to turn into boring fantasy history lectures” Ok but please make this
Most of the creator races used the handy caveman human genome in their pallet of crazytown pc races. It was but a mold for the creators to blend in with their own affinity. Humans + bird = aakoracra. Human + snake = yuan ti Lots of cults and acolytes seem to pull this type of stuff off in present day. The dragonkin fro Horde of the Dragon Queen come to mind. Maybe its a process that deities copied and passed on through doctine
I'd like to do a video on him, I've really only read Making of a Mage so it would take a lot of research and book summaries to attempt it. Even then, being such an iconic character, not sure I'd do him justice. Or start reading all the Elminster books asap O.o
you should check out the books he's like gandolf,Dumbledore, just a touch of Han solo, with a sprinkle of badass on top! perhaps a chosen of mystra? all very big power players within the realms . BTW love your stuff! Very well put forth.
I think Mordenkainen's has changed Lolth's backstory a bit (for the better I think) where she tempted the Elves to make their forms permanent to have their own destinies? Something like that but it gets away from the whole... affair thing.
Could the giant and dragon king have picked a game that had non winner so they could intentionally call a white peace? As in, they both know their races won't accept such terms, but if it looks like they reached that end by accident, that would work?
... who the fuck wrote this lore? it's so complicated and, in general, meh that I can't believe it's the main setting for D&D. I'm so making my own world if I ever become a DM.

The the image of the combining gods made me crack up. So good!
Hey, thanks for these videos! I'm new to the dnd universe and have been watching these for their easy-to-follow and interesting storytelling
lol, could argue Tiamat more or less had 5 times the brain power
Dude I love your videos so much you're so funny but you phrase stuff so well as well, thank you so much for doing what you're doing and keep going bro!
The funniest thing is that you could probably make a alignment chart with just Johnny Depp characters.
I love these videos and the way you present them. Great stuff!
I find your videos reallyhelpful, you have an enquiring mind and are not afraid to ask.
Soooo much awesome stuff in those "boring dates" bruv!!! Just subscribed and hoping for some good stuff! Not been disappointed so far
5:00 Wait, photo?? You mean, the Forgotten Realms is REAL!?!?!?! I KNEW IT!!!!!
I have no reason to watch past 5:02. I am satisfied with life. I got as much as I can out of this video already.
=P
It obviously just has a line drawing filter over the photo. 100% real

Far underrated comment!
Boe-ehb and soo-eh
Lol
These are so helpful, thank you!
I HAD THAT POWER RANGER ROBOT TOY AS A KID!
The game board that they play on looks like some variation of Nine Mans Morris.
What book had all the ages summarized like that? This is perfect for a lecture at the college in my current campaign
My new favorite channel.
Thanks :D
Hi everyone, it's Jorphdan, the PH is acidic!
It's not basic!
Most interesting episode so far
I like how you use Athena to picture Othea
Omg, you threw in some screenshots from Flight of the Dragons. Amazing. #mustwatchifyoulovefantasy

I forgot the name
Is there a playable version of the board game mentioned at 4:54 ?
I don't think so, some giant dragon fantasy chess. Made up.
I love the random pic of archaon
Love it!
Drow are my favorite. Lollth is wicked.

that giants board game looks suspiciously like nine mens morris
Another solid education :)
It's okay Corellon, we've all had a Lolth or 2 in our day. Sometimes they're named Brittany.
freaking Brittany

I realise this is an old comment. But every integer is a multiple of a prime number except for 1 which is not a prime.
Hey man! I'm a Lore nub but that game that they're playing looks a lot like 9 Mans Morris or Double-Mill. Maybe they were playing that!
I think its important to understand the lore of a franchise before reading the novels, comics, and video games related to it.

So From Software took inspiration from DnD in the creation of the Soulsbourne mythos...

This sounds a LOT like the plot of dark souls...I wonder if this is where From Software got its inspiration
I actually wouldn't mind fantasy lectures, I would 100% take a class on it. If you know anyone that does the fantasy lectures... idk hmu
oh yes the photo of timat and gary x playing against each other

alright, what if the thousand year war was just live action risk based on their game of wah-ree?
