- I lived in my converted 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan for two months traveling solo down the east coast. This is a quick tour of Gypsy Jess. :) Leave a comment if you have any questions because I will be making more videos soon!

Nice simple and efficient setup. A safety tip to consider, change the side of your bin and use the right passenger door instead of the driver side door. This way you don't have to constantly be moving your driving seat making it easy to get in it from inside the van if you need to get moving in the middle of the night. Also safer to go in and out the back if you are parked in the street. Have fun traveling!
This is the most ingenious camper minivan I've ever seen... at first I was super judgy and almost exited the video... then you pulled down the bed.
Seriously, you're a freakin' genius. There are a few things I'd tweak as far as storage, but this even affords more room for a portable toilet and shower than every angle long distance build I've seen.

I have the starkist tuna pks plus peanut butter this way I don't get tired of eating the same foods. Plus I put coffee or green tea in a thermos which stays warm for 2 days. Hope this helped. Have fun on your adventures

@@ashlinsadvantures7157 there are also products by BumbleBee that are little cans of chicken salad, tuna salad and buffalo chicken salad with crackers. I just use bread instead of the crackers. Love your van. Stay safe.

I would get a thicker blackout cloth and use a continuous strip of velcro all the way around. Also the back tables don't look safe for cooking on them unless they really lock into place. I mean if you can bump up the table top and it falls over that's so scary but I'm a clutso lol. I'd just hate to see a boiling pot of water or greasy pan fall over and splash all over someone.

At 3:46 I can see the light through your curtains which means people outside can also see your house lights at night, through your curtains.

Impressive! There is no ventilation, heating or ac. How you manage that?

I need to be able to see out the windows in the night. Just in case I hear something out there. Also, imagine having an accident and all that gear flying at your head.
This is the best setup I have seen so far. Enough vertical space to feel like a room. Having a platform\bed gives a feeling of congestion. Neatly packed away in containers and drawers. Best!!

I've seen several of these "floor sitting-sleeping" builds. I like them because they seem more private and protected when you sleep.
I agree and it’s more stealthy to be below the windows. I also heard it was best to keep blankets and coverings black as it blends with the flooring.
Super organized and simplicity. Stay safe. She needs to also carry pepper spray to keep herself safe.

Actually a slight more potent tool than say a can of Fox Mean Green or Fox 5.3 would be a pepperball pistol like the Sabre Red model or Pepperball llc model
Please don't project fear into her reality. I am also a female who has lived in vehicles, once for 2 months, once for 6 months. Sure as women we keep our wits about us, but to over-worry like it's a big scary world really defeats the purpose of being free. If one maintains a high vibration and uses common sense, trouble is unlikely to find you.
@@SmoothCinnamonX I agree but troubles are uninvited and unexpected so it's good to be prepared, also I absolutely agree we shouldn't fear about things because that fear stops us doing anything

Very nice and simple. I am contemplating getting a minivan to make as travel camper. Most ones I see on youtube tend to be very cluttered and sloppy looking. this one looks very neat.

You are so adventurous keep it up. I’m in my 70s in until Cove it I was taking 3 to 4 Week Rd. trips I’ve done route 66 I’ve done the great River Road. I eat one meal a day out of my jeep. But I spent the night in hotels.
My friends joke that I do live in my jeep because I carry food and clothes for different climates and reading materials. Enjoy it when you’re young. I do recommend both the river road trip and Route 66.

Beautiful do it yourself van! Very personalized. Love the pink and Gray. One of those collapsible dish pans would work if you need to do dishes.

Parking in hotel parking lots is literally what I was hoping to hear from so many people like yourself for years and you are the first one to actually mention this, this is the best idea ever great job and stay safe beautiful friend :)

@@SmoothCinnamonX not best. Most hotels have security and hand out tags to ppl staying. Unfortunately… hotel parking lots are the worst place to sleep.
Unless you like getting harassed by cops and getting towed. 🤷🏻♂️
Gray man approch is good as that van has no mods and looks stock and blends in from the outside. Overlanding people struggle somtimes when they have a jeep, ladcruiser, or fullsize van after its lifted,and has a roof rack and all that

I was referring to the curtain covering the front. Plus she mentioned she reads at night which means she has a light on. But if she’s comfortable with that then that’s fine. Being alone I would not be. And some people don’t realize they can be seen through. She said she was stealth I think. That’s not stealth. But whatever. Lol

I don't want a dog! It's a lot easier to only have one thing to take care of... myself! haha but I know some people travel with pets and love it!

Where do you shower and use the restroom. For the last year the bathrooms have all been shut down due to Covid. Do you have a backup for this?

I was wondering the same thing. I live in FL and cannot imagine the heat in a closed van.
I idle when cold or hot
USB fans I believe mine is oplar. Got one that has a regular fan and one that spritzes water. Have a fantastic fan in ceiling. I stay cool here in Florida.

I really love this. I’m 30 years old and FINALLY getting my first car (not so unusual here in urban Europe) and I’ve always wanted to do a proper van build but can’t afford it so I love to see simple designs in more usual car types. This gives me so really useful ideas, thank you!

Wow I've never heard this before, but sleeping in hotel parking lots is a super good idea !!!! (To feel safe) cause everyone there is staying in the hotel and usually not being sketchy like on side streets, Walmart parking lots ext.

I have a couple questions ! By the way, your van is so cute and is so perfect!! Did you have a mini fan when is was hot in your van? And if so, did you have enough outlets that you could plug it in?
Thank you! Yes I had a mini fan. It charged by USB so I could charge it while I was driving then it stayed charged wireless.

The first question is, how tall are you? You look tall. Second, it's shocking to see a single female do a video and there's no dog, there's always a dog. I think it's hard to van life with a pet cause you can't leave them in the van during the summertime. I see you have books, can I add another book to your collection, although it'll be digital. My current van book, is on Amazon titled - Things Change: The Saga of Sara Timms.
Nice and simple (sort of). 40 years ago I used to love sitting on the floor on huge cushions (4'x4') and playing games on mini tables. But when I do my minivan build now, a bed is required! I saw a video with a bed only 8" off the floor (same height as the seat bottoms). That way there is plenty head room when sitting up in/on bed!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! I got the pink and gray drawers at Target. I've seen them other places as well! I spray painted them-- the frame was originally neon pink and the drawers were originally clear. I got the tubs in the back from Staples. The brand is Really Useful Boxes. They're awesome because they are durable and square all the way down so there's no wasted space!

Hi I would like to know where you got your plastic drawers
I got the plastic drawers from Target 6 years ago and then I spray painted them to match my theme in the van. They usually sell those types of drawers around the beginning of every school year. Hope that helps!

I would love to know where you got your pink and gray plastic drawers! I lived in my camper van for two and a half years and now I have a minivan even though I don't live in it. You had some really good ideas! I have used mine with a cot in it but it is pretty crowded! I like how nice and open yours is! It is so awesome just to be out there roaming around!
I think the drawers are clear and pink and she probably did gray paper wrap/cardboard covering for them, like I seen on another channel @minivan lee channel go ck her out, she'd a way older lady but has good videos 🥰😍🙏🏼

Hi! Yes I spray painted them! They originally had clear drawers and I didn't like the way it looked because it kind of looked cluttered so I just painted them!

It's a great set up, not cluttered at all. Very organized. Where do you use the bathroom and shower? I'm always curious in such a small space.

These vans are so useful and so flexible, it is incredible to me that people buy SUV's instead and that Dodge no longer makes this style. The Pacifica is nowhere near as roomy.
or made by actual chrysler or reliable! the caravan is awesome up until the added the 3.6 vvt motor. 3.8 is the best
I have a sincere question about showers, do you usually pay at gas stations for showers? I have known that Love’s has showers for travelers but i don’t know if that’s how you do it or if there’s an app or something

Very nice set-up! I love the simplicity and low cost of your van interior. Mini vans are also better on gas than a full size van. Plus, they fit in any normal parking space and parking structures. You should venture out west. There's a lot of spectacular country to see. Safe travels!
