- No Man's Sky's 4.40 update, ECHOES, is here! It's the big 2023 summer update! There are TONS of new features and content including updated space combat, a new robotic alien race, new factions, new multitools, new frigates, new capital ship battles, new holographic museum displays, and even more! It's the age of the autophage and I'm all here for it. Check out my initial reactions to the trailer and patch notes as well as my impressions overall. Releasing on all platforms today!

ive been wanting freighter battles for so long now, this update gives me so much hope, the idea of how freighter battles could be further expanded, the fact theres physics objects and cloth on the new cosmetics, i cant wait to see what comes next. ill always miss the huge NEXT style updates, but im glad we're getting these medium sized, but meaty updates
I truly wasn’t sure what I would think of this video because I’ve already read everything but holy moly. You pointed out so many little things that I completely missed! This was awesome, in spite of the technical difficulties. And it was awesome because of the sneak peek of the kitten!😹👏🏼👏🏼 thanks for your stellar content all the time!

This update looks absolutely incredible, I was thinking the new pirate freighter battles look like the old Battlefront II as well. Gonna hop into this update later, I'm definitely looking forward to your videos on the new content as well! Especially the new lore we'll get
Went out and bought a psvr2 today for the second time. Returned it the first time, dead pixels and nms broke my heart. It looks amazing now. Even better than it did on ps5/psvr1 via adapter.
As a psvr2 player, this update is a big deal. It looks absolutely incredible in the headset now. Instantly one of the best psvr2 games.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 on the PS2's space battles are one of the things I've wanted for No Man's Sky since all the way back in 2015. It's so cool that finally we're getting something with that level of depth to it! This update was really surprising for me, and I'm loving the way HG have been polishing up gameplay elements as of late

No spoilers of course but the new quest and lore with the autophages is quite interesting, certainly some of the most interesting stuff they've put out for a while in my opinion. I've been having fun with the new content and think this is the best update they've put out since I started playing during the Outlaws update
A lot of autophage dialogue is really interesting too and has some cool implications for the lore

YOOO bit late but great vid Kanaju!
I'm AMAZED how good the pirate freighter combat is now and how well they contextualized a whole new race into the game. You can actually scan around ruins and they show up as if they've always been there all these years.
And I'm happy they finally started adding consequences to the game: You can safe a fleet by letting pirates get away, but then you don't get huge rewards. Or you can go for a bigger reward but then you risk the fleet being destroyed. You can destroy pirate frigates to make it easier, but then you risk not being able to recruit them if you win. You can upset one race but make another race happy with the same choice etc...
Everything about the update is amazing except the staff... funnily enough it's the least impressive part about the update for me.
It's just a reskinned multitool.. and you even "reload" it with the same animations and you can even hear the magazine sound effects for it lol
Yeah the staff was the biggest let down of this update for me too, its such a shame because the walking, running and standing animation all look pretty good.. but then the animation for when you actually use it is terrible, you can even see the right hand gripping the staff like it has a rifle handgrip
I hope they make a proper unique animation for the staff in a future patch

Ughh im so so excited!! I've been having a break from NMS over the last month or so, and this trailer honestly feels like a whole new game, its like a sequel dropped while i was looking away!
If no man’s sky adding some new ships with interiors, I swear it would become the best space game ever. It don’t even half to be walkable whilst in motion just for even when you land on a planet

PSVR2 looks great with this update - really crisp graphics. Was amazed how detailed a lot of the stuff are, was used to the blur :) Sometimes some distracting aliasing visible in the periphery, mostly happens in stations so no biggie.

I've did the entire story for the update. took me about 3-4 Hours.
this was the first time i was Genuenely *scared* by No man's sky.

I can't initialize a new game on Series X. The graphics are all glitched and it's unplayable. Old saves play fine though. Weird.

I think you need the Sentinel ship and to find a Pirate Dreadnought in a Pirate controlled system to destroy.

Xbox series x hast lost almost all color and graphics are now in blocks
I hope they fixed the graphics on xbox. They have gone down HILL. They used to be decent, but not now.

This is one of the best Updates since a long time. It's cool that they updated the Combat, even if it took a couple of updates. Another amazing thing is more lore and story missions, plus a new Expedition!
This update has something for everyone.

This game has been great but ima have to switch over to star field when it comes out I will miss you nms 🫡
