    Extremely clear and helpful guide -- thanks. I was also under the impression the grinder had to be running while adjusting the collar so as to prevent damage to the burrs, but I don't recall where I read that and now I can't find anything online to back it up. Maybe I imagined it. PS who can afford to waste this much coffee on purges and test grinds??

    If your grind is too coarse, move the collar counter-clockwise, not clockwise.

    the reason you run the machine while adjusting the grind is to prevent packing any unused coffee in the burrs. reference Java Jim in Jersey

    This is great. I just want to know, the digits on the screen of the grinder outside of settings, where it usually says 0557 etc, what is that showing us?

    Hi I've got a mazzer mini manual and I see your adjusting grind size when the grinder is not grinding beans. Is this ok? I thought I was supposed to adjust while grinding?
    I've wasted a lot of beans trying to look for the right grind size.

      You do not need to have the burrs running whilst you adjust the grind ring, this can be useful if the grind ring is stiff but there is no other reason to do so.

    I have this exact grinder. It was on the shelf for a while, but now using it again. I am finding it’s retention annoying and also it’s clumping level. Also, setting the timer - weights are highly variable. Maybe it needs a good service. Overall, I’m considering looking at newer options, especially with less retention (and a bit smaller!).

    You will save a lot of coffee if you measure 20 grams of beans and grind them all and stop using the hopper.

    • @andrewfitzpatrick1309
      @andrewfitzpatrick1309 3 года назад +1

      I would not recommend this, the Mazzer on-demand grinder is an espresso grinder designed to be used with the hopper.

    • @vibaby
      @vibaby 3 года назад

      @@andrewfitzpatrick1309 I've been doing it my way for 7 years and it really is better for the small operator. We only make 6 espressos a day. The beans in the hopper will go stale and you have to weigh the ground coffee to make sure it's dosing the right amount. What a waste of coffee!
