Vietnamese food is incredible. The country is even better. Been twice now and I'm going again in September. I recommend anyone go there. The country is beautiful and the people are amazing
Now get yourself over to a food court called Bang Bang, north London Edgware Road and check out all the South East Asian food stalls and see what you’ve been missing.
I think I mentioned in another comment the fact that London has the best of the Orient when it comes to food and not just Chinese. However, Vietnamese is possibly my favourite. You need to try Bahn MI somewhere, it's a sandwich but on another level. I am so happy you loved this. The best place is Kingsland High Road, there are about 20 plus Vietnamese restaurants to choose from. Oh, and Thailand is amazing but Vietnam, is even more beautiful and the people are the most humble, friendly and generous.
Wow that Vietnamese food looks absolutely delicious Darren! Thanks for sharing your review with us - I'm going to try and get myself down there over the bank holiday weekend. Big fan of your channel mate. Off the charts
I was laughing when you didn't use the mint with the first spring roll. Then I was surprised you didn't mention how much the mint changed the experience. Mint is used in many Vietnamese dishes.
Food looked so fresh. I could almost taste that fish sauce. Does it taste better than it smells? 😀 Go to both places, Darren. Looking forward to the vlogs.👍
Fill ya boots..now thats a food experience..China was great for food along with Vietnam..go to someone's house for their home cooked food..if you are lucky enough to be invited..😉👍
Thank you Darren for taking us on another amazing Gourmet Journey. Vietnam is an incredible dynamic country and everything with legs/no legs is cooked to perfection. Love the Rolls
Evening Darren, wow it's another first Vietnamese food😮I take it the drink was a tadge " tart, sharp& breathtakingly tasty" Proper Spring Rolls. No massed produced kack, the real deal 😊 Gotta tell you,add to your" food to make you smile " " Service to make you happy& smile ☺ " Hail the pig,the most versatile beast 😊 And a very personal preference, the back ground sounds, that's music for eating by😊 people loving the location, food, the company.Makes my ♥ 🎶. Try and do both countries 😊 Oh the pub quest.Start are the " A's" and work through. Cheers Allan&Family
@Judy, 👍👍I'm like that with Thai, I'm a 70 yo Londoner but Italian by descent, I have preferred robust flavours throughout my life, as I guess that is what I've been used to, so Thai flavours seem too flowery for me but I'm willing to give Vietnamese a go based on DJ's fine review!!
Vietnamese food on Greek Street. I dont know why, but that's funny. Dipping directly into fish sauce.....I could never do that. Fish sauce is a seasoning to be added into cooked food.
Went to Vietnam a couple of years ago. Started in the north and made our way to the south. Lovely food and unbelievable how cheap it is.Beatiful country and extremely friendly people.
Love Vietnamese. I'm living near Biggleswade, a short trip for you, on that prime iron horse. Well about a year ago, we had something different open in town.... Miss Vietnam Restaurant. Absolutely love it, and what a refreshing change from all the Indian, Chinese, Italian, and Turkish restaurants. The food is light, fresh, flavoursome and not expensive. Not even service charge! Though of course, I'm ver happy to add service to our bill.
I did a North to South bike ride (Hanoi to Saigon) after seeing the Top Gear team do it (they went south to North though) and now it's a famous bike ride. It's incredible, the People, the landscape and the food. Oh man, wonderful country 👍
If you haven't been to Thailand yet, give it a shot - Thai food's not quite the same here. I am keen on Vietnam next time I'm over that way, though. It is quite inconvenient to reach from the UK, but easy from Bangkok.
That is my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in the west end and was also the first time I tried Vietnamese food. It is by far my favourite Asian cuisine. I love it’s freshness and how the ingredients are always the star of the show.
When you laugh while or after eating it is "delight". I once ate a steak (a bistecca alla diavola) that made me giggle all the way though it - in sheer delight.
Hey DJ, living in Saigon, now called hcmc. If you do drop over, would love to meet up...I work in travel so I do know many nice places. I do prefer the smaller ones as in your Video with Viet Restaurant
Great video Darren, been coming here sinceit first opened in Spring of 2007- I have met Anh and Nghia few times lovely people! I haven't been in a very long time-but need to go back this year def..... When do you think you will go back there??
Wow, looked amazing, I love Thai and it’s pretty similar ❤Dry but full of flavour. I do love Siracha too 😊Would love to see you do a trip to Vietnam 🇻🇳 🎉
Still have nightmares about Greek st from 2002. Driving a stretch limo looking for 2 clients who had gone to L'ESCARGOT. I recall going through a small tunnel and having to do a left, 10 shunts back and forth to get round. 😂 apologies to the black cabs behind me 😂😂
Because of your video, I have just had my first Vietnamese meal in a restaurant in Lincoln. I was blown away, and that is eating from a chain. Great quality and flavour. Thanks for posting a great video.
DJ , this is my favourite Vietnemese restaurant in Central. Do not go to the one on Wardour Street , it is not authentic. I was so happy to see you went to this one as it is the real deal!! Next time have a big bowl of Beef PHO 🥰 absolutely cracking.
If you're going to Thailand later this year try Addie's Thai Restaurant in Earl's court, my thai missus isn't easily impressed but she really likes this one.
Food that makes you smile…. I reckon food that makes you laugh is next level! I’m dubious about fish sauce though as I hate fish and seafood….. but I could maybe substitute it for sweet chilli ha ha
Hi Darren the spring rolls looked nice but seems unusual wrapping them in lettuce leaves, and I’ve never seen the main course arriving while you are eating your starter, but I’ve never been in a Vietnamese restaurant so what do I know, but glad you enjoyed it, living in London you have an amazing selection of different cuisines
Hello DJ. Just about to watch your Vietnam food review. Have you ever been there? I have, its my favourite place on the planet. I warn you though, if you ever go the memory of it will never ever leave you. It is awesome. Good health and Bon Appetite..
Hi Darren I have only just subscribed to your channel but this one about Vietnamese food grabbed my attention because you said you are going on a trip to Thailand if it’s ok to ask were in Thailand are you planning to go I live here in a place called Hua hin on the main land I am English and been living here for 10 years I will be looking forward to seeing your reviews about Thai food All the best Paul Ps great channel
Enjoyed the video Darren but just some constructive feedback, you didn’t actually describe what the main course tasted like/what flavours were coming through at any point which would have been very useful!
I left that to you (as the filming) beansprouts, carrot cucumber, rice noodles and lettuce..... but the whole thing together with the sauce was out of this world
Vietnamese food seems to burst with freshness and flavour. I've always thought how wonderful it must be to live there because of the great nosh. My son has a lovely Vietnamese wife and it's always a joy when she cooks for us. We tend to visit a lot. 😉 If yours was even half as good as it looked, that must have been a fab dining experience, Darren. Really enjoyed this (as usual). Btw, if you've not already done so, see if you can get to try Thai laab. It's very hot but incredibly tasty, and is usually minced beef or chicken, spiced up with smoked and roasted Bird's Eye Chillies, Long Pepper (deeplee), Thai Prickly Ash (makwaem), Peucedanum Dhana (maleap), Indian Bayleaf (Cinnamomum Tamala), Coriander seed, Dill seed, Cumin seed, Fennel seed, Sun-dried Sand Ginger, Galangal and Lemongrass and Black pepper. I love to spoon some into a lettuce leaf and eat it that way. If you want to try cooking it at home, laab spice mixes are widely available. Please keep your great videos coming. 👌
Thanks, Darren. we'll definitely be visiting here this summer and also that amazing cheesecake in connaught village. Btw, If you have the choice to go to Vietnam instead of Thailand, please do it, it better suits your personality. Great video and great content as usual.
Hi Daran ,yeah change ya hol to Vietnam it’s better than Thailand and the food is so good and cheap,it’s got so popular with us living in oz,Thailand is just a rip off and knocking shop 😊
Been to The ‘Nam. Had frogs legs as I remember and some other stuff. Amazing and cheap. Coffee was a bit special also and I’m not even a coffee drinker. Need a trip up the smoke ASAP..
Hey up Darren food in south east Asia is wonderful, lot's of country's there worth a visit, grew up in Australia loads of vietnamese place's, could well be worth while modifying your travel plans

I had Vietnamese friends and was invited for dinner once. Over 35 years later I still remember how delicious the food was.
Amazing
That looked amazing Darren. Love the simplicity of that type of food. BTW RIP your white t-shirt!
Please go to Vietnam!!! Thailand is so expensive. Go to Hanoi , Danang beach, and finally Ho Chi Minh City. Incredible people

My favourite appetiser of all time. In France where I live they’re called “Nems” spicy carrot sauce and the mint is intense!
Try the fresh rolls next time . The crepe Banh Xeo .
I wonder if it's vietnamese food. I mean they make it for the western taste, so they like to eat it.
