Hi Darren, your Vietnamese belly pork crusty roll, looked so, so Good. 🎉 And your Iced Coffee. So Lovely you chilling out in a quiet London Street. The Chef Anthony Bourdain said his favourite place in the World was Vietnam and had the Best Food. Thankyou Darren 🎉😍
I firstly could not believe you had never had Vietnamese food before but then I realised why. I live in Australia and we have a sizable Vietnamese population here. You are now experiencing what we Australians have been enjoying since the Vietnam war and it is stunning. With the Banh Mis we get them with pate (if wanted) as they come from the Northern section of Vietnam due to the French influence and also you must have the special French baguette made from a particularly special flour. I must admit that I love Vietnamese food (also Thai food) but Vietnamese is to me not quite as hot, you can have more Chilli added but unlike Thai food which already has Chilli, Vietnamese is milder unless you want it hotter. Another Vietnamese item to buy is the pancake, it is made with Rice flour and absolutely crammed with meat and seafood plus bamboo shoots. It is accompanied by a sweet and tangy sauce. If you can get that in the UK do try it, it can come as an Entree or main course. The first time I got it was as an Entree but subsequent meals were as takeaway main courses and it was so large they packed it in a large pizza box along with half the greenery from a market garden. To me Vietnamese food is one of the nicest and Freshes foods around. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Brilliant video! Looks lush, off a a tangent, I'm 60 in a month, I love Doris day! Introducing Henry Miller! He's as busy as a fizzy sasperrilla! Sing it! Fell in love with her when I was 17, god bless Doris day! 😊
When my husband worked in London there were street food stalls nearby and he absolutely loved the Bahn Mi. He brought me home one to try one time and although it wasn’t as freshly made as when he’d had his at lunchtime it was still delicious. Not seen them at all anywhere near where I live. We both love coriander, which I know is a real Marmite thing, but just love what it brings to a meal.
I believe Vietnamese street food is unique in that they use bread. That stems from being a colony - French Indo-China - and the legacy left behind on leaving by France was the baguette and rolls. Saw that on the Hairy Bikers.
I love the way your face lights up when you eat something yummy….you are like a little boy in a sweet shop 😂 loving the content…..keep up the good work Darren…..lots of love from your newest subscriber in Plymouth xx
Black Hills of dakota! I sing it all the time. Too much tragedy today! Good food good wholesome music and lovely snap! You nailed it mate! Music and food! Wow! Nice one, best you tube chanel ever! ❤
That looked amazing! I love Vietnamese food. Like you say, there is so many tastes mingled in together. I loved the crunch, it was so loud!😂😂😂 Good job Darren.
Lovely vid DJ! Another one of my favourites of yours for sure. Simplicity my friend. A fresh sandwich with fresh ingredients and a gorgeous iced beverage … watching the world go past! Simple but so enjoyable! Til the next one! 🥖🍖🥒🌶️🥕🍃🧋💜
£9 for 1 would get you 9 in Vietnam. Married to a Vietnamese lady been there 15 times. The food there is amazing whether in restaurants or the street and unbelieveably cheap. Next year Vietnam becomes home.
Wow your Vietnamese lunch looks "Off The Charts" amazing (especially that iced coffee). Funnily enough I used to work just around the corner from that place but haven't been so it's now on my list. Cheers Dazzler! Love your new channel.
I love Bahn Mi's. They're so good!! So funny you filmed trying one because I had one just the day before the video came out. I had a roast beef one with extra chilli. So good!! 🤤💙
40 years ago this area was all Italien, the food was superb and the amount of cafes in the area was because of the huge amount of MOD buildings in the area.
My God Darren, that bread looked and sounded like, something from heavens kitchen 😊So fresh, so crunchy, so crusty. And the ingredients, so simple. My son is home for a week,so tomorrow a family treat for us all😊❤ Let you know how it goes ❤Cheers Allan&Family
Hi, like the posh street, and the pretty little shops, and i like the red doors on each shop really cute. The pork belly sandwich 🥪 looks amazing and very healthy. I liked how you treated yourself to a 2nd ice coffee really nice. Enjoy!
You are so right Darren, about people reading about food, and saying not for me without trying it..I told you that you would like their iced coffee,in the comments of your last Vietnamese video.I was surprised not to see pate on the menu,it’s always the first option on the menu at Banh Mi restaurants here in NY.😊
Big fan of Vietnamese food in general. Grew up going to a Vietnamese restaurant for family occasions. Loving a good Banh Mi especially recently with a lot of shops selling them in perth for $10 and under which is great. If you haven’t already tried Pho, do yourself a favour and have a go at it. Heartwarming flavoursome broth with plenty of herbs and rare beef or raw beef added to cook it last minute. Great with brisket too.
Darren agree ,it's great sometimes and good for heal😊to eat something zingy refreshing not hot or spicy cleansing the pallette love lime lemon etc really perks up the taste buds ❤
Good man Darren. The first time we ever had a Banh Mi was it Hanoi Vietnam and we were instantly hooked. There is a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant in Dublin that do Banh Mi that are equally as good as those in Vietnam 🇻🇳. My mouth is salivating here 😮
Hi Darren, it’s nice that you enjoyed that sandwich so much, Vietnamese is a bit different I would love to try that but would have it without coriander not keen on the taste, and a great place to sit and eat in that lovely little street especially with the tree’s
That baguette looks gorgeous, the colours and the freshness of the food stand out. The crunchiness also prominent. A lovely place to eat, a hidden gem of a place definitely. The iced coffee looked good too. It is worth paying the money when it is that good. 😊
Thanks for sharing “your special moment” with us Darren. As always I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the price was actually very good being its London prices too. Vietnamese food is so good you’ve obviously got a lot of catching up to do, if you haven’t already please try a bowl of Pho, you’ll love that. Thank you again and as always have a super lovely evening 😊
Vietnamese food is fantastic, I'm glad you discovered it! I don't much like Thai, despite its immense popularity and ubiquity, and assumed Vietnamese would be somewhat similar. Not so - it's far, far better. And Banh Mi is seriously one of the best sandwiches on earth.
Hi Darren. Worked at the Holborn end of Lamb's conduit Street 2012 -2018. I'm sure that wasn't there then. That would have been a daily lunch stop for sure ot looked and from the noises you were making sounded fantastic. Keep on discovering and enjoying❤
Hi Darren, a banh mi is nothing like pita. It's basically a French petit-pain (smaller than the lump that you have there) left over from when Viet Nam was occupied by France. We were on holiday in Hanoi, Vietnam and I remembered that Chef Anthony Bourdain loved Vietnamese food and a banh mi from a particular street food stand was his favourite. We Googled the episode where he had this banh mi. We found the stand - almost like a hand cart and had one each. They were spectacular! Two banh mi cost us around £1.00 - a bit different than your £15.00 example.
Darren, That looked like a proper sando. Perhaps you should go back and try the Pho? I've only had Pho once over here so I don't know if it was up there or not. I enjoyed it but it's uncharted territory for me.
That cold coffee, would of had that blended! Also with the thing with McDonald's, I get the wraps of the day-sometimes 3 of them for just under 6 pounds which fills a hole then get a drink in boots! When I have been to Ban Mi Aha I have had it blended and makes it last longer as well! I have been to all 3 chains!
Those Vietnamese rolls have never appealed to me (no mayo!) so I think they will be dry but after watching you enjoy this so much I have to give it a try.
I haven't tried Vietnamese food before but that looks awesome. I'm in London for the weekend at the end of July staying somewhere in Fitzrovia which looks pretty close to this place so I'll try and check it out. Definitely going to Regency cafe for a breakfast and M. Manze for pie and mash whilst I'm there.
Really enjoyed that DJ, great to see different foods, keep doing it. Price wise, I reckon thats not too bad, you could go to a Subway and pay a tenner plus and its garbage! All the best mate.
Wow DJ , that looked the business.. expensive yes but it’s different and fresh.. I agree with you, I’d rather what you had there than a couple of Maccy burgers . Was it Off the charts though??? You are experiencing new things making choices like this, and supporting a small business … the Iced Coffee looked great too.. another great review.. can’t wait for the next one.. 👍🏻
You wanna try them over here in australia theyre cheap and MASSIVE and so bloody tasty, the french bread is a thing they inherited when the french occupied…
Looked great. Would be interested to see what you think of Paul Rothe & Son deli sandwiches. They are about 5 or so minutes from Bond St underground in Marylebone Lane. Pop in next time you are in the area 👍
Love a banh mi. Lucky we have a place in Cardiff that sells them. Spicy pork I go for usually. If you like Vietnamese food check out the chain Pho. Very good.
Dont just sit there , book a flight...you'll need a month to explore, get a great guide, experience the food and lifestyle. Try not to get married ! We are all waiting and wanting to see you there.
