Hello Roof, thank you for your comment. As price goes up, the law of diminishing returns does take effect. The real question is how does the DMP A10 compare in sound and build quality vs other products in its price range. Eversolo's own DMP-A6 or A6 Master Edition sound very good in the price range that you have mentioned
Interesting and the SFP option is intriguing but you didn’t mention using it. Would love hearing that streaming option. Their customer support has seen criticism.
Hello Iron, we had our sample for this review for a limited time, and were not able to try ou the SFP fiber network interface option. It is a more costly method, but lower electrical noise, always a good thing with electronics
Hello C Pod, the majority of manufacturers don't speak too much about their future product roadmaps. But we know this DMP-A10 is a terrific product :-)
Very nice review. What are your thoughts on the sound signature of the new A10 compared to the A8? Today I have the A8 with a Beatechnik LPS-A8 linear power supply upgrade feeding an Accuphase E-4000 intergraded amp. Most of my local music library is DSD files (SACD rips) and high res PCM files. Typically I like the sound of AKM DAC's together with DSD files. I find this gets me close to an analog vinyl sound. Would you consider the A8 to be a bit "warmer" and the A10 to be a more "resolving" and detailed?
Hello Joey, it seems you are happy with your set-up, which is great. To us the A10 retains the warmth, but adds more detail. If you're considering the A10, we suggest an in-person audition, which we're glad to schedule if you can: ask@gramophone.com
@@GramophoneMD Thank you very much for the reply. I recently moved the A8 to a secondary system and I am now in the market for a new digital source. So, I have a question on your thoughts comparing the new A10 to the HiFi Rose RS150B. The pricing and features are reasonably close (I would not use the video capabilities of the 150). I am more wondering how the sound signatures compares.
@@joeythedime1838 Hello Joey, both units sound really good, and as you say the pricing / features are close. Folks who buy the RS 150B often wind up using the RoseTube feature more than they expected to, as it is fun. Sonically the two are pretty close in their performance, to a point where you may want to audition both to see what sounds better in your system. Please reach out of us if you want to dialog further re your system: ask@gramophone.com
Hello Aarebalos, good question - Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers come in various types, depending on the specific networking equipment used. Connectivity problems can arise when using mismatched SFP modules. The Eversolo website suggests a pair of the same brand and type of single-mode 1310nm SPF modules, and that DMP-A10 supports SPF (data rates up to 1Gbps) but does not support SPF+ (data rates up to 16 Gbps).
Hello TS, you're right to point out that there is no power amp. But there is a lot of electronic activity involved at the preamp level, and digital signal processing with the streaming, generating some heat - the enemy of electronics life. Thus the ventilation is a good idea
@ thank you for the reply. I definitely want to try an eversolo product. Can’t decide if the a8 is good enough, if I should wait for an a8 ME, or try an a10
Hello Stillaliveandwell, I hope you are a fan of Johnny Winter, who recorded a song / album of that title. We are not Aurender re-sellers at this time, and so aren't in the best position to compare the two. Thank you for your comment
@@GramophoneMD This comparison would be useful to your sales. Eversolo is a Chinese company, Aurender is design and development in CA and manufactured in S Korea. Some people are so easily pleased with the new shape that they think that it makes it so much better. The A8 is a really good device so there is no need to get the A10. 😮
Hello Gadget, no doubt the DMP - A8 is a really good product for the money. The internal layout of the A-10 is in a whole different category - quiet as can be. It definitely works better than A8 in a high-end, revealing system
@@Carl-yx1ww Thanks Carl - we're glad that there are good quality streamers in so many price ranges, and that companies like EverSolo keep coming out with more options. Streaming keeps growing in popularity for good reasons, right?
Do you think it would - sound quality-wide- profit from an external DAC such as the Gustard X30 (fixed volume , DAC mode only) via a USB 2.0 A/B interconnect?
Hello Sir, possibly - but the internal DAC is quite good, so you may want to try it as - is, then experiment from there. We were very impressed with DMP-A10
I would think twice about going that way. Eversolo removed the i2s output from the A10. If your just using the steamer section then going with the A8 into the Gustard X30 might make more sense.
Hello Aricersues, we're sorry to hear that the multifunction volume button and screen doesn't appeal to you. We have enjoyed using it very much. DMP-A8 is a fine streaming choice at its price point. We're glad to have the step-up DMP-A10
@@GramophoneMD Merci de votre réponse, je préfère le DMP-A8 que je viens d'acquérir, j'attendrais le DMP-A98 dans quelques années, il sera sûrement encore beaucoup plus performant, et peut être plus esthétique ! 😉

This is by far the best video I have seen! I understand what this unit does and how it works. Thx so much.
Hello Nurse KJF, thank you for your kind words. It was a fun video to create
A FIIO S15 is arriving this week, I think it's gonna get scary close to the DMP-10 for only $1K.
