I appreciate your clarity and will show him this video on creating a pit bike. He bought several repair bikes to repair and sell. It's new to him and a good learning curve, so maybe this will save him alot of aggrevation trying to figure it all out. Thanks

Just wanted to let you know I have been watching many of your videos and I have a chines ATV that had no spark could not get to spark ran battery down 3 times trying to start over heated starter just wouldn't start! Then I remembered you built a portable cdi, coil, power all in one "box" that eliminated the bike completely . I watched the video again and rewired the bike according to your "box" and 2 cranks and running ! Thank very much I was getting close to junking it !!! Many thanks and my grand kids thank you also!
Great walk through !!! Do you have a video on how to verify if each component works or not? My atv was running and just rebuilt my carb but now lost spark ?? I assume I lost a ground somewhere or have a bad coil/CDI?

I bought a 2 stroke kids ATV for my grandson and I thought I could get it going. It has a GY6 long case but the oil is separate from the gas. He told me it was the carburetor and had a new one. He told me it wasn’t electric start and it is. The wiring harness was all hacked together and when I put the new carburetor on I decided to pull plug and check spark No Spark. So I ordered a complete wire harness with the ignition the coil the rectifier the CDI the six pole stator with connected pulsed a blue wire goes to pick up. Now I have the harness hooked up and of course No spark when I put the news stator in I noticed the rust around the drum magneto so I had to clean the rust off I believe that’s why I wasn’t getting spark what concerns me is I have a stNdRd pin plug and pluged it in but I also have blue and red bullit Connectors but I don’t have Ny idea where they go because my only bullit connectors are yellow and black and green and the carburetor also has a 2 pole plug but I’m not getting anything. When I was leaving with it he told me he had it up to 30mph and it might be a 90cc. Every time they give me a spark plug it’s to small my Spark plug is much bigger at the threads. I did some research on it and the Taiwan company is Rely or similar and the engine is a Her Chee just S I spelled it and the CDI I took off is a 2” square stamped metal box there aren’t any slots to hold a CDI or the starter selinoid on the old wiring the CDI and Rectifier we’re screwed into top of rail. I don’t understand it’s all hooked up except the two female bullit plugs from housing the blue and the red unless I have bullit connectors crossed because everything went were it was supposed to except the separate red and blue and blue goes to pick up inside the plastic cover Any ideas?

Blue/white-- from pickup coil that sends the ignition signals as the flywheel outer magnet passes by it. The red/black is from the excitor coil on stator. Would be so great if the language was standardized. A lot of confusion could be avoided but everyone seems to call things different names.
Hey Harvey What if I have two wires from the pulse generator and none of them go to ground ? They go to oem CDI and I tried one the meter to ground but it seems it only pulsed using both wires ? What would you recommend?

That advise (at 12.50) regarding kill switch is a great one. That black/white wire once remove, able to resolve my problem. i have AC 6 prong CDI on my unit. i cant figure out where the problem is. can i just change everything to DC CDI (cheaper ). or shout i change everything including stator to make that change. i want to put something cheap so incase i have to ever change anything in future

Hey, I'm not sure if it has to due with the CGI or the carborator maybe, but I have a 2016 Taotao T-Force 110cc. The idle seems to be good and steady, and reverse runs strong (maybe a putter from the carb or somewhere by the carb) the only problem is drive, it kinda feels like it's in 4th gear or something. No torque, and it also seems like if I only give it 1/4 of throttle it runs okay, until it goes as fast as it will at 1/4 throttle. As soon as I give it more, it starts to die out and sputter. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Love the videos, your a genius! 🙂
Hi, great videos, just got a tao tao.. quad did run before. Had to change starter clutch/flywheel. Now I get Little to no spark..so it won't run.. could the fly wheel be different with the magnets? It will throw a occasional spark but its not that strong when it does..

Hey Harvey, your videos really helped me get going on getting a 90cc ATV wired up. I've got everything wired up correctly and confirmed all my grounds. Left the charging system out, powering the starter directly from booster pack. Getting volts out of CDI lead to the ignition coil. CDI light flickers when the starter is turning and reading about 20v supply to coil but not sure what that means since it operates off the pulse signal too. Getting no spark when grounding the plug and turning the starter with booster pack. Tested the spark plug is good in another engine. I've used two ignition coils could and both tested good with about 7k ohms across. I would assume everything is good up to the CDI since the CDI is giving power when the flywheel turns. Don't have any interlocks or kill switch wires up. Any ideas?
Hey Matt! If there are 2 wires coming off the pulse generator, one should go to ground, the second should go to the pulse generator, if there is only 1 yellow wire, it goes to the pulse generator where the blue/white wire goes.... I hope this helps... Thanks for asking!!!

hello there, can you give me some advice?my bike has lights, turning signals, the starter motor works(i assume that piece you say in the video its good otherwise it wouldn´t start) BUT the bike doesn´t start anyway. The lcd/speedometer doesn´t show rpm nor kms, just turns on when ignition is on(neutral light is on) i´ve no spark on the plug, ive already changed CDI, plug and the main fuse Any ideas? :/ its a quad like that one too
So… I have an Artic Cat 500 and I tested all the wires and have power at the cdi and have power going to the ignition coil BUT it will not produce a spark to the plug. Where else can I check?

Similar to my problem with my Kawasaki ER-5....I bought an identical from Ebay (maybe)...The Igniter fired up first time...and after a few minutes the the evil creature of satin went belly up after spluttering and back firing....Still testing the components......but I think I have been had....Or maybe not!!!......Ignorance is NOT bliss lol.

It has a starter and battery .what in the world am I supposed to to make this run and charge.im getting told that it's a ac unit/ stator but the stator only has 3 wires coming out of it. White green and blue. No red with black tracer for ac power or DC power. ?

Hey Harvey quick question on options for a bike I'm working on. Customer has multiple ppl look at bike 1990 xr80. Primary issue no spark. Adjusted points it was sparking, then Plug stripped out and retapped and fixed. Go to kick the bike no spark.Customer took flywheel off with hammer and now it needs a stator,points everything ignition wise in the case. Magnets in flywheel broke too. Oem parts are expensive and hard to find.are there any alternatives I can do to avoid the cost?

Hi Harvey, Thanks so much. My hired help bought a 125 Fly and has been having extreme trouble. Now the bike has ONE spark then goes dead. Let it sit amd one pop is All I can gret. I'm sorta old school and can't remember how I wired the old T/T scrambler to constant loss! Not sure if it can be done on these new bikes. I think I took out the magneto. Question is? can I run 12v to the CVI for a test for spark. I find out cdi no spark so I'm trying to figure out a way to wire it up

I have a 2006 honda crf150 and I've done everything I can possibly do to get it to run. It has a starter and battery .what in the world am I supposed to to make this run and charge.im getting told that it's a ac unit/ stator but the stator only has 3 wires coming out of it. White green and blue. No red with black tracer for ac power or DC power. ?
Harvey I need some help. I have a Tao Tao 110. I purchased a complete wiring harness with all new stator, CDI, handlebar switch, starter solenoid coil, spark plug, etc. I hooked up the wiring harness and I have no spark. I’m confused and need some help. I have watched all your videos and can not figure out why I have no spark. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
My stator has no green wire but it has black is that the ground?
hi can i still hav spark with a bad cdi? i was riding, it bogged, then we stopped i shut er down n it wont start now...i have spark, fuel, no smoke, dash lights when key on, she wont turn over......any ideas?

You said if bike dies wont spark cut black wires to check if its n on and off switch?. I have a 2003 ltz400 suzuki rode fine shut off random n woods got it home now i turn on switch press start 1 spark then no spark and if i flip switch does again 1 spark then none. How can i check to see if its in my switches

On the coil does the power wire go to the green connector or the black
Mr Harvey I have a Chinese 250 2 cylinder, I have two questions. There is no red and black wire coming from engine besides blue and white there is a green and white and green and red? And can I pat both coils off yellow and black?
Hey Harvey quick question on options for a bike I'm working on. Customer has multiple ppl look at bike 1990 xr80. Primary issue no spark. Adjusted points it was sparking, then Plug stripped out and retapped and fixed. Go to kick the bike no spark.Customer took flywheel off with hammer and now it needs a stator,points everything ignition wise in the case. Magnets in flywheel broke too. Oem parts are expensive and hard to find.are there any alternatives I can do to avoid the cost?

If I swap a 2 coil stator to a 6 coil stator with full wire harness would it work on the atv??

Harvey i thought since you are electrical engineer there is a guy who broke down the internal circuitry on the cdi and thought id share w you and others. His channel is LearningZone. Hi Harvey, Thanks so much. My hired help bought a 125 Fly and has been having extreme trouble. Now the bike has ONE spark then goes dead. Let it sit amd one pop is All I can gret. I'm sorta old school and can't remember how I wired the old T/T scrambler to constant loss! Not sure if it can be done on these new bikes. I think I took out the magneto. Question is? can I run 12v to the CVI for a test for spark. Or should I run all the tests from coil backwards

Hey there Harvey, I have a Linhai 260 . I have lights on the instrument panel but it won't start with the key turned to the run position and then push the starting button, I've checked for spark just by jumping the starter directly from a battery but I've got no spark, got any ideas?
I'm beginning to think it's a cdi issue simply because the wires run from the cdi to the coil... can't wait to hear what you have to say about it.

i had spark then tried to hook up my charging then lost spark its a chinese 250cc i got yellow , pink , blue/white and green coming out the motor and my cdi is blue/white , black , green, black/yellow and black/white im lost cant get spark back please help

I have six wires coming out of my stator housing, not five. Pickup wire is white/red stripe not blue/white stripe. I have no blue/white wire at all. What gives? Disconnected black/white wire, fired up then died. No spark since. New coil, cdi, plug.
