    what I like about Mckenna, especially in build up, is that hes took the best principles from RDZ, the press bait and enforced patterns deep, but not leant too hard into it. Hes created the patterns to go forward without being pressed and on top of that, hes also got them going long. Keiffer-moore and hirst have been great target men that have allowed a new dimension when normal build up patterns have gone wrong.
    The intensity OOP, especially on the counterpress, just shows how he wants to play the game. variable and intense, with plenty of speed. loved watching ipswich this year. Said he was one of my top 5 to take at united at the new manager if we do move ten hag on, and while he probably still needs another year, and a year in the prem, i stand by it. very flexible, very intense and very direct. love it all. Would like to see him develop a proper midblock into his strategy and transition more to a hybrid press as well, but until that becomes needed, best not to mess with whats already working.

  • @iwantgoals1566
    @iwantgoals1566 18 дней назад +7

    Here as a United fan after I heard we held talks with his reps. Appears that his style is very similar to RDZ with the false transitions and I think if RDZ wants full ctrl of transfers INEOS won't give it to him and may turn somewhere else cause that's not there model. However I think there's a huge element of risk if we do hire him cause he's nowhere near as experienced as RDZ and the players might not have that respect for him cause he's a very young coach and he still hasn't done much in the game compared to RDZ.
    That said he has worked for us under Ole and knows the issues at the club, it's just that the managers hot seat is a different kettle of fish. Would be better to let him cook elsewhere before taking the plunge.

    Losing only six games was an amazing achievement. Ipswich were also the top scoring team but also lacked the ability to keep a clean sheet. It will be interesting to see how they fare in the Premier League. They do have a history of having an impact at the top level.

      Excellent analysis. Whilst it is true that we conceded more goals than Leeds and Leicester in total, surprisingly we did actually keep 15 clean sheets out of 46 games which is the equal 4th best alongside Leicester. That being said, no doubt that McKenna and his staff are more than aware that we will need to strengthen to be competitive for the EPL.

    • @thesedreamsarefree
      @thesedreamsarefree 19 дней назад

      @@johnholkham2420 There were reasons why Forest struggled more than they should have but mid table safety was the best they might have achieved this season. To compete with that Ipswich would have to follow Forest's example and spend. The other teams promoted the same season as Forest both had the bare bones of a Premier League set up, Bournmouth having spent 5 of the previous 7 seasons in the PL and Fulham having spent 4 of the previous 6 in the PL. Burnley had spent 7 of the previous 8 seasons in the PL and favourites among the promoted clubs to survive but showed it's no guarantee. Forest had to start from scratch, which is what Ipswich have to do and it's not easy. I actually think Nottingham Forest should get more credit, just for surviving and their low block counter attacking style is geared to just that. If Ipswich try to play the same style of football they played in The Championship they'll need to invest in players who can do that against Premier League defenses.

    • @johnholkham2420
      @johnholkham2420 19 дней назад

      @@thesedreamsarefree Yes I believe that if you can Survive 3 seasons in the PL your much better equipped for the Future. A. You attract better players, B your existing players and Coaching staff now have PL experience , C the Television money really starts to kick in. I think Forest have done well . The big problem is you can spend millions and yet there’s no guarantee the player you buy will perform Brighton certainly brought some duds in their first 3 seasons. This is why Brighton have switched from buying ready made players to buying young talent from around the world which they then bring on like Macalister some make the first team a few are so good we can’t keep them and those which don’t make it are still sold for quite good money .

  • @johnholkham2420
    @johnholkham2420 21 день назад +4

    Exactly how Brighton played under De Zerbi and when it worked it was great , but Premiership clubs will either out play you ie Man City or sit deep and counter Ie West Ham. Every team you line up against will has nearly every position filled by an international player who will be faster and better marking and pressing.

    • @jontalbot1
      @jontalbot1 17 дней назад

      As a Town fan l agree. The team lacks pace through the middle and key players like Chaplin find it hard to operate with a really tight press. The good thing about KMK, if he stays, is he adapts. The keeper is not really PL standard nor the two centre backs. The two midfield linchpins, Morsy and Luongo at this stage of their careers are not quick or technical enough either. Burns, Hirst and Broadhead are effective

    Watching this, you can argue this was what Poch was trying to implement. The issue is that chelsea doesnt have a keeper who can play the ball off his feet, and our CB's were not quick to release the ball in open space. Also our FB's werent able to create open space or find themselves in positions to create space in the mid. Nothing against this manager, but I dont think anything will change with the squad we currently have.

      But the owners want to play moneyball, and the Premier it's not for that (unless you are a Brighton after 3 years minimum of struggles to save Premier partecipation). Very good- only l do not agree in your assessment of the players. All teams play to a system and the system only works as well as the players execute it. People who do not watch the team regularly latch onto Hutchinson but Burns is more consistent and effective over a season as any Town fan will tell you. They will also tell you that none of this would work without Morsy, deservedly the fans choice for Championship player of the year. They will also tell you that the players are all consistent performers and the subs nearly always strengthen rather than weaken team performance and there us coherence and togetherness about the team which enables them to come back from losing positions, score late and perform well when it is most necessary. They did not bottle the promotion run in and finished 21 points clear of any team in the championship the previous season.

    And yet apparently Ole had a bunch of amateurs around him.
    "Jobs for the boys"

      One point behind Leicester with a budget a tenth of theirs. Town finished 21 points above the next team who were in the Championship last year. They played their last game with eight players who were in League One the season before. Now do you get it?
