We're a large family that's been homeschooling for almost 20 years. We've used a variety of curricula over the years, but CLE has been one of our all-time favorites. As someone who has adult children that were taught using CLE curriculum, I'll say that it provides a solid educational foundation, and it works for students with a variety of learning styles and personalities. The lessons are thorough but not too long, and the layout provides enough variety to aid concentration without being overstimulating. Highly recommend.

I just started using this with my daughter rand she is responding so well to it. The only thing is that I did not buy the readers or flash cards? Are they required?

I’m looking into this, but I’m sure if I want to use all of it! My son has high functioning autism. Reading 1 looks like a huge jump from this!

It builds up to reading 1 level. It is very adaptable and provides a good structure. You can slow it down if you need too (which I definitely do for my kiddos). If you want to chat about it more DM me on Instagram at planpreppray I'll be happy to help.

I’ve had this on my list to research for my struggling reader, but this actually helps me see I don’t think this would work with him because of the long lesson lengths! Wow. These lessons are long! I know you mentioned this but how in the world do you get through this without it taking half a school year to get through one lightunit?? 😂 How much of one lesson are you completing each day with your students? I could seriously see one lesson taking an entire WEEK to get through with my son. He is 9 with severe delays across the board.

I should do a do a lesson with us lol but one lesson takes 30-40min including flashcards. But I do it with four kiddos at once. When I was doing it with one kid at a time it was 20-30min

Also you can easily break it up and do one lesson in two days

@@PlanPrepPray 30-40 mins 😳 Are they engaged the whole time or do you see signs of fatigue?! I’m genuinely curious! My kids can handle 15-20 min of phonics and that is what their brains can handle. They do have special needs….
Are they ready for the next section or are you having to gear them up to “keep on going, we can do this!!!”?? 😂

Alright here we go, we structure our 30-40 minute lessons with various activities to keep the energy and engagement levels high. We start with a brief 5-minute session using flashcards, followed by 5 minutes of physical movement to help the kids reset. Then storytime, which includes interactive elements and lasts about 5 minutes, I try to keep them engaged while they color. We then have penmanship for 5 minutes and a quick sound review. Depending on the children's fatigue levels, we might do a soundsheet or skip it to ensure they're not overwhelmed. While I work on timed reading with some students, others move on to a visual discrimination sheet, allowing us to cover different skills simultaneously. We wrap up with group oral reading, which is a favorite, followed by snack and outdoor playtime. This approach helps us maintain focus and adapt to each child's needs, especially for those with special requirements. ❤

@@faithfullyinfertileso it is not all direct reading instruction the entire time it's (penmanship, listening to stories, exercises and visual discrimination as well)
