Ekhem, just so you know, term 'public house' means something a little bit different in my language... ;D Also are u trying to tell me there was not one decent establishment we visited during our voyages throughout the entire Witcher series?... Hmmm....
The drinking establishment in Gerudo Town in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. They have a drink there, the noble pursuit, that's so good, even a woman dying from the heat of the desert will work up the strength to run home for it.
The Herald's Rest in Inquisition! You have an excellent bard singing wonderful songs, you can visit The Iron Bull, Cole, and Sara, and, best of all, the tavern is named after you!
I once spent an in-game New Years Eve inside of The Bannered Mare, I drank a lot, ate a lot, and then went outside and shouted different ways at the night sky . Good times.
Poor Luke, first he is shot down by Andy and then he is forced to sing about Ellens glorious exploits. Oh, I forgot that Luke is Ellens slave, but he usually only has to get things from the top shelf for Ellen.

+Kaleigh Chamot Agreed. The bar on Illium has the best NPC conversations. It features the Salarian bachelor party and the Turian being friend-zoned by a Quarian. Both hilarious
MrBig Inthcave agreed but I feel hanged man is a better option due to the number of quests that require you to go there so it actually feels like a place you would go regularly for a pint whereas the herald's rest is just there and has no significance to the game
Mi1ky J03 It has no game significance, I agree, but I feel like they've given the herald's rest more coziness, seeing as the whole skyhold crew had a game night there. Also, there's the bard. The hanged man is significant to the plot, but there are a lot of fight scenes there, while the herald rest has none, it only includes scenes where you drink and have fun with your friends
MrBig Inthcave I think the Hanged Man had more personality. I didn't even remember the name of Inquisition's tavern and I've played 100s of hours of the game x)
South Wall Corner Club in Morrowind. One of the first (and one of only) places you're not immediately treated with suspicion. Rather ironic since it's also a thieves guild base.
It's a lot more awesome in hindsight to see Luke actually play a ukelele and makes me wonder if the next time he D&D with the OX family, he would actually play his ukelele as the Bard he is.
Between murders, brawls, drunken stair climbs and unskipable exposition, video game taverns are up there with big round rooms and cover filled hallways for danger.
_Cover filled_ hallways? Bah, kids these days! In the olden days you would see a lightning bolt coming from a mile away and suddenly remember how awfully straight and featureless the last section of hallway had been...
In a DND campaign I intend to run there's a tavern that's simply heavenly. It may look simple but the seats are comfy, the bard's songs are magical (pun intended), the drinks are amazing, the townspeople in general are great, and if you're feeling risky you can try your luck at the tavern special: the fizzy potion. This wonderful item that came to be thanks to a potion brewer joining the staff has the effect of litteraly anything. You may find yourself experiencing all sorts of non-lethal effects ranging from useless and silly to "oh my god that man just made a dragon explode by looking at it" levels of powerful.
Moxxi's Bar from Borderlands 2! What better place to gamble all the money away and overtiping the owner after spending all day hunting crystalisks to make money? Wait... I just found the error in my ways... Nevertheless! Sick tunes, wacky characters and grenade throwing slot machines... what else can a Vault hunter ask for?
I was quite impressed by Arsmith's Alehouse in Dragon's Dogma. It wasn't a large place, but Arsmith paid good money for ales you gave him, you had a noticeboard for all the hot activities in town, and it felt rather homely for a little bar on the side.
How did they not include any of Moxxi's bars in the Borderlands series. It is obviously superior because...um, it's....Just trust me, there's such a nice kind and smart hostess/bartender who is...they...um, she has such nice...Let's just say I get EXCITED just thinking of her...
I literally purchased Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning during the last day of the Steam summer sale. I know nothing about the games. I did it for Ellen since she loves it so much. When she made that video I had to just laugh at the timing.
Chris Dyson I wish Kingdoms of Amalur became backwards compatible so I can play it on xbox one since I got rid of my 360 because I didnt play it anymore. Sadly since the company went out of business the state of Delaware owns the company's IPs so EA is having a horrible time getting the rights to that game so now I cant finish the game.
"The Third Rail" in fallout 4 was nice. Magnolia the singer is the voice of wonder women (Lynda Carter).. where else can you got to a bar and get serenaded by wonder women:)
Still grieving there was no sequel. When CCP bought White Wolf I was so excited. Then a trailer for a WOD MMO! Then nothing. Then cancellation. Then Paradox bought them! Two years later, still waiting... and why do OXbox/OXtra keep reminding me!
I imagine having a pint with Ellen would turn into a hilarious night. Especially if Luke can actually play a fiddle/ukelele. Also, Ellen looked like she was highly amused with Luke singing for her
Where's Assassins Creed Syndicate and all the bars/taverns that have bottles of beer. Sure Shaun complains about the beer in the database but it's great, right?
About 7 seconds before the first "Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines" reference ... that's how you know it's gonna be a real treat of an Oxbox/Oxtra video!
How about the Milk Bar from Majora's Mask? It has nice lighting it's not that crowded and it has a live band. The "band" is just one kid in a green tunic wearing a bunch of masks but hey entrance is free. You might want to get a pint quick though because in three days it will be closing indefinitely.
Brass Lantern in Megaton. Casual, friendly, no mad Irishman hitting his slave ghoul in front of you whilst you try to drink away the trauma of being exiled from the only home you've ever known amid gunfire.
No mention of the Tapster's Taven in Orzamar from Dragon Age: Origins? That place had a jaw dropping list of drinks. The first time I got there and heard the number of meads served there I wanted to ACTUALLY go there... because MEADS!
I like Joeyray's bar from starcraft 2.. Fully automated doors, arcades, a guy in a mech suit, jukebox and tv screen on the ceiling.. And that hydralisk thing hung on the wall.
what about purgatory in Mass Effect? after 5 minutes in there you totally forget about the semi invinsable space crabs coming to lazer up the plaze. or maybe the reapers just want to join in? cool light effects and awesome ... bone trembling bass.
The Kingfisher Inn in The Witcher 3, it got everything from, alchol, poetry, music, luxurious rooms to that the barkeeper will play a round of gwent with you if you ask. A nice change from all the monster killing.
What about The Milk Bar from Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. Its classy, live entertainment, and only 200 rupees for a bottle of everlasting magic milk. Thats a steal! Just remember the dress code...
"There was me--that is, Link--and my three droogs--that is Tatl, Tael, and Link the Goron. We sat in the Clock Town Milk Bar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. The Clock Town Milk Bar sold milk, chateau romani, or chateau romani vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and get you ready for a bit of the old...ultraviolence."
Definitely the Chameleon from Witcher 3. There's beautiful music, well choreographed dancing, amazing decor, and you grab a drink and play some hands of Gwent with pals!
Other games with cool pubs: Mass Effect has some rad pubs on the Citadel where Shepard can get hammered and ruin the floor of the bathroom. Also in Andromeda at Sloane Kellys party Ryder can get hammered and danse worse than Shepard did. Dragon age Iquisition had Heralds rest where you could go and hear the bard girl sing about your glorious exploits and all the horrors in the world. or just talk to Iron bull, Sera and Cole. And last but certainly not least is the Witcher 3's Crippled Kates where you can enjoy a nice mug of questionable content only to later meet a beautiful woman for a night that costs about 40 crowns.
Kudos you guys at XBxtra for not only featuring the Hound Pits in this video but making Luke strum a ukulele with all the enthusiasm of someone who lost a bet. Don't forget about Afterlife from ME2 where you definitely were poisoned by that racist batarian and Purgatory from ME3 where you definitely weren't. Love you lots Ellen, good luck being Jane's protege and I'll be killing many a Skyrim Frostbite Spider in your name.
where was the 3rd rail from fallout 4, smooth jazz music sung from live talent a bar keep who knows the dirt on any convenient quest and a back room filled with hireable murderers to do all the work for us
Guys, you know you can fix the audio problem in Vampire Masquerade, where it sounds echoey when people talk, by either installing the community made patch or just quickly fiddling around with the audio txt file. Just a quick google will sort it.
maybe i'm biased, but the Hanged Man from Dragon Age 2 will always have a place in my heart. Varric's stories, Isabella, the crazy guy's 4th wall breaking, Isabella, Corff's gossip, Isabella....
I wouldn't mind stopping by the Herald's Rest from Dragon Age: Inquisition. Good atmosphere, great tavern songs, and Iron Bull and his chargers. Good all around.
Every bar in Enderal, though the one in the mountains is especially cozy. The bard songs are really beautiful (and flesh out the game world really well) and you can play a couple different gambling games. There are conversations worth listening in on and bartenders worth talking to, they have it all! There are very few taverns in video games where I actually hang out and listen to the music, instead of running in, getting food/bed and leaving. You can even have a date in one of them if you don't screw up your romance options.
Although I imagine the Thirsty Wench in Whitestone would probably be on a list of Taverns in the category: "you really don't want to know whats for dinner." Anyone who has done the "Dinner Time" repeated task will know what I'm talking about.
Amazed that none of the saloons from Red Dead Redemption are included. My favourite instance of a bar in a game is the one in Mafia 2, when you're escaping after an assassination mission or something I think. You run through an art deco bar and have a shootout with tommy guns, sending broken glass flying everywhere. Absolutely stunning. I got so carried away shooting up the bar that I almost forgot to shoot the goons.
the bar in shovel knight: spectre of torment. as the game went on, and you recruited more characters, more people would occupy the bar, making it feel like a social, and cheerful place, contrasting the (albeit comedic) dark atmosphere. a lot of those characters were ones ho had fought in certain levels, so it felt like co-workers coming to relax and settle things over a pint. i remember being so excited seeing that, plus, it made me feel like i was helping villains come home to relax...plus, a lot of them give you free money!!
Dragon Quest ix's Quester's Rest, is an inn with a nice pub on the first floor. Technically, you are considered an employee here, so as far as inns go, nothing is cheaper. And no, your free dorm room at Swinedimples Academy is not an inn. Besides the incredibly warm reception you get from most of the employees, it is the only place to access Patty's Party Planning Place, DQVC(which unlocks extra quests and special items for sale), Rainbow's End Gold Bank, and the Rapportal(which lets you visit your friends' worlds). You can also "canvas for guests", which invites nearby players over to your inn to trade treasure maps, and, if you have enough guests at the same time, upgrade the inn. To top it off, a woman across the street admits that "all the women who work at the inn are real beauties. Even I'm enchanted by them, and I'm a woman myself!".
How could you forget Moriarty's Saloon in Fallout 3! Lovely staff, friendly faces and a man who will pay you to destroy the whole settlement...so maybe they're not all friendly.
My favorite tavern is home. The beer is always cold, the music is always great, the other people are all of a decent sort, and when I pass out on the floor I can be reasonably certain that I won't wake up in a blood-stained bathroom with a missing liver and a hastily written note saying "call 911". The only down side is that the beer can run out, and there's no opportunity to abscond with fancy drink ware.
Wow...the vampire LessTact, rather than the vampire LeStat. Luke, that pun was like homework: staying up late thinking too long about what amounts to little more than trivial busywork! And I thank you.
The Third Rail in Fallout 4: a cheeky bartender robot. A good looking singer doing live jazz and a VIP section complete with a merc you can make a traveling companion! What more do you need!
PRESENTING: The public houses, bars and drinking establishments in games that we'd happily spend a cheerful evening in. Cheers!
Cheers
Outside Xtra THANK YOU 😀
Outside Xtra Any chance for another game cocktail? Hopefully less/not at all lethal ?
Outside Xtra Dammit Ellen, I can't stop playing KoA now.
Ekhem, just so you know, term 'public house' means something a little bit different in my language... ;D
Also are u trying to tell me there was not one decent establishment we visited during our voyages throughout the entire Witcher series?... Hmmm....
Ellen's hair is slowly turning more ghostly blueish white. It's confirmed, she's stealing our souls and is becoming more powerful.
Is it possible for her to become more powerful than she already is?
@@StirrCrazy90 she still has a long way to go before she catches up to the Dark Empress: Jane
Either that or she has the moonstone opal
She’s already captured my soul/heart...so it makes sense..Jane has consumed my conscience so there’s that too..
It’s always the ones you least suspect.
The tavern at Skyhold in Dragon Age: Inquisition. The bard is enough to stay for about an hour or so.
Love listening to that bard! Voice is so relaxing
Especially if she is singing Sera's song.
Yes! I'll spend hours listening to Maryden sing!
And Cabot is my favorite VG bartender of all time. "The current mood? SCORN."
I see your Skyhold and raise you The Hanged Man
Love that disclaimer to ensure legal drinking. No lawsuits at Oxtra! Not after the last couple of death ray attempts *cough* Jane
Caitlin RC don't forget the nutmeg incident XD
oh my gosh the nutmeg incident was ridiculously close to happening
The drinking establishment in Gerudo Town in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. They have a drink there, the noble pursuit, that's so good, even a woman dying from the heat of the desert will work up the strength to run home for it.
Only problem being; only women are allowed
(Psst. Has anyone called it a Lukelele yet?)
Yes
Take my like and leave, your pun is better than anything I could come up with.
"Never should have left the pub"

where was the 3rd rail from fallout 4, smooth jazz music sung from live talent a bar keep who knows the dirt on any convenient quest and a back room filled with hireable murderers to do all the work for us
I was really surprised the voice of magnolia, the singer's, was Lynda Carter. who doesn't like to be serenaded to by wonder woman
The Smouldering Corpse Bar from Plansecape Torment. I loved its music. It's actual smouldering corpse was cool too.
Guys, you know you can fix the audio problem in Vampire Masquerade, where it sounds echoey when people talk, by either installing the community made patch or just quickly fiddling around with the audio txt file. Just a quick google will sort it.
I feel that we need a new segment on show of the weekend where Ellen reads off some hip-beat poetry and Luke plays the ukulele. :P
6:27 Okay, who let Harley Quinn in here?
The guild hall of Monster Hunter XX is basically a tavern, you get yourself drunk then join with 3 other hunters and hunt monsters.
There's no need for an asterisk if you're under age you could have a good beer... root beer what where you thinking of
The Lion's Pride Inn in Warcraft is one of my favorite spots for a refreshing beverage and some awkward RP.
the witcher 3 rosemary and thyme
maybe i'm biased, but the Hanged Man from Dragon Age 2 will always have a place in my heart. Varric's stories, Isabella, the crazy guy's 4th wall breaking, Isabella, Corff's gossip, Isabella....
No mention of the Inventory? who wouldn't want famous video game characters as drinking buddies?
Brandon Welsh what game
Nathan Bird Pokernight at the Inventory I’m like 67.8% sure.
I wouldn't mind stopping by the Herald's Rest from Dragon Age: Inquisition. Good atmosphere, great tavern songs, and Iron Bull and his chargers. Good all around.
It comes in pints?
Cory Nydam a little something for the road?
This is so much yes!
You've had a whole half already!
shut up Merry and/or Pippin
Joey Frye oh don't worry mr. frodo
I'm guess Andy and Luke didn't allow Ellen to put in a KoA entry
Although I imagine the Thirsty Wench in Whitestone would probably be on a list of Taverns in the category: "you really don't want to know whats for dinner."
Anyone who has done the "Dinner Time" repeated task will know what I'm talking about.
What do we have here? Harley quinn, we have harley quinn.
the bar in shovel knight: spectre of torment. as the game went on, and you recruited more characters, more people would occupy the bar, making it feel like a social, and cheerful place, contrasting the (albeit comedic) dark atmosphere. a lot of those characters were ones ho had fought in certain levels, so it felt like co-workers coming to relax and settle things over a pint. i remember being so excited seeing that, plus, it made me feel like i was helping villains come home to relax...plus, a lot of them give you free money!!
Is that a ukulele or a Lukulele?
another song for Luke to play "Everything is awesome when Ellen is in your team"
A Skyrim mention without Kippers? Shameful
Max Littlewood what the daedra, is a kipper
Should that not be a Luke-elele??
How could you forget Moriarty's Saloon in Fallout 3! Lovely staff, friendly faces and a man who will pay you to destroy the whole settlement...so maybe they're not all friendly.
So, does anyone else want to go where everybody knows, your name?
No Formal Training
Cheers, my friend.
Ellen is quickly becoming one of my favorite RUclips people
Who else would follow Ellen's every command without question. *raises hand* =^.^=
kyle hood Ellen is the British goddess of youtube, 😂😂😎
6:25 oh... hello vampire Harley!
Luke Alaylee! Seriously though, the lad has talent! Is this foreshadowing for a Name That Tune style quiz?
My favorite tavern is home. The beer is always cold, the music is always great, the other people are all of a decent sort, and when I pass out on the floor I can be reasonably certain that I won't wake up in a blood-stained bathroom with a missing liver and a hastily written note saying "call 911". The only down side is that the beer can run out, and there's no opportunity to abscond with fancy drink ware.
Seezleslak’s Cantina. He tells a mean tale and serves some mid food, but the sense of camaraderie is impeccable.
I totally remember that Fabel quest and the statute of my Hero pointing and laughing after it was completed.
Wow...the vampire LessTact, rather than the vampire LeStat.
Luke, that pun was like homework: staying up late thinking too long about what amounts to little more than trivial busywork!
And I thank you.
Personally, I'd love to "Have a Pint in" Grilby's. It's a warm welcome to the extremely cold Snowdin in more ways than one.
I love how joyful the comedian sounds as he states "I ATE A PERSON!"
The Third Rail in Fallout 4: a cheeky bartender robot. A good looking singer doing live jazz and a VIP section complete with a merc you can make a traveling companion! What more do you need!
