The only thing I want to say is to thank you for helping me get here and write this message without the support of a translator.
Thanks Christian. It is almost a year that I am living in Dublin and it was my dream having a life in an English country, but it is very hard, above all when I am tired or nervous. It can be very difficult to work and speak when you don't feel confident with the language. I am working in a call center for UK. It is no easy. I want to say thank you because I cried at the end of the video. You are an amazing human being and teacher. You know how to talk through the heart. Thanks

There's no one who speaks perfectly, whether it is your native language. All of the languages have been built and they'll always be. An excellent point Christian, most people need to hear and grasp it, it might not kick in now, but over time it will definitely do. Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷❤️
Christian is so smart! I agree with everything he said. I just had a toeic test the day before yesterday, and I got 635, but I could do it better if it wasn't so fast. You said in Jan of 2021 that you were going to make videos with truly practical content, and as much as I liked this video, I found it devoid of practical content, being more of a meditative, almost new-agey, touchy-feely, contemplative mantra. If you imagine yourself speaking to an audience of non-native English speakers, who at the same time truly grasp this video, then you are making videos for those who are already rather sophisticated English speakers. That is, you are making videos for those who have already overcome the systemic obstacles you are railing against.
I'm an English teacher in the Czech Republic and I'm going to show your video to EVERYONE! I say this to my students ALL the time-and they hardly ever believe me. Not to mention you are hilarious!!! Thanks!

Oh my gosh 😍 I just need to believe in you. You're the person that encourages me the most. When I watch and listen your videos I feel like all is possible in my journey through learning English. You're incredible ❤
As a teacher of English who used to live in the US and now has to teach the British English (the "textbook" British English) in Russia, I cannot thank you enough for this powerful message!!! Being an experienced English speaker with 10 years of real life communication in the US under my belt I've always felt that all these "proficiency exams" were invented to instill the complex of inferioirty in those taking them. Having watched your video, I'm even more convinced now that it is the money and hubris that are behind this whole "testing system"... Thanks!
"I’ve been addicted to your videos. They are not just lectures for those trying to learn English from various continents; instead, they delve deeply into dismantling the system of ideology that underpins the language. You remind me of thinkers like Michel Foucault, Louis Althusser, and Jacques Derrida . .
I've had goosebumps watching this video, my English from now will be perfect ever, thank you so much for showing us empathy and compassion. I'm felt proud to see Paulo Freire in your references, I'd like to hug you, thank you Cris, thank you so much to show us, it's possible to achieve this dream. From a Brazilian living in Queenstown, New Zealand. (I didn't use grammar or translation to write this simple test to you and your subscribed students, for me it's very important to try this kind of exercise without shame or blame).
hey, I'm brazilian too. my english is becoming a lot better as I started typing comments on youtube everyday and, the most important, that is kind of improving really well my ability to describe feelings and deal with meanings :) is great this feeling of freedom, normally nobody complains about my mistakes, so I just go through without fear and wanting only to communicate.
Excellent video as always Christian! “Your English is not good until you believe it is” this is so true not just about English but also about everything. The mentality is everything.
Thank you for setting us free from old standards and expectations... your message is soooo relieving and profoundly true! As an English teacher, I´ve truly started questioning my practice, thanks to you. Forever grateful for that!
By coincidence, when I was writing this comment, you quoted the Brazilian writer Paulo Freire. Dude, I was missing your videos. I'm from Brazil but I live in California. I learn a lot from you!!! Success!!✌✌👏
I remember a video where you asked us to burn our books... I do like the way you see things. We have to make what is good for us. Thank you for this great video. Take care of yourself.
I'm Brazilian and of the best things that I found out this year was this channel! Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement to pursue learning English, Chris!
I enjoy your lesson and your philosophy! I am 38 and live in Belarus. Currently I have started learning English again😂, because of my new job. And I would like to thank you! I think everyone who learns English feels a kind of pressure inside. I always focus on my pronunciation and rules I know to say sentences correctly, but your words make me feel free. You said very important words for a person who can hear you. Present time requires somebody who can solve problems and doesn't give up, and give in. We are on our way, and only ourselves can make this way better!
I love this sentence more: "language is not a set of rules, it is a creative act." Thank you Christian. Thanks for all those emotions that I was feeling during watching this video.
Mate, did you know that you are doing a great favor to mankind? With more people like you the world might be a better place to live in. You just spoke my mind as you uttered the truth about the context and more that one right answer. I never found anybody agree with me as the 'Cambridge' authority or the likes dictate the realm of English language learning with illogical arrogant iron fists. God bless, brother. - An unpopular teacher from Bangladesh.
My dear Christian, I just met you the day before yesterday, I remember the "quality" of my first English teachers when I was young. If I only had teachers like you, it could be a most beautiful and deep travel into your language. Sincere greetings from an Italian in Athens, and forgive me for the mistakes!
Amazing! You just bumped my confidence to learn Polish... I have moved from London to Poland 5 years ago and struggling as you can imagine. Grammar is in fact a big barrier to my learn and always holds me back when I try to communicate with the native speakers. You are teaching to learn languages and not only English.
Thanks Kristian! You are not a teacher, you are philosopher! Your classes are always very interesting and help me to be more confident in studying English.
Oh my God, you make me cry 😢 You are exceptional and authentic human being,I just love your speech and your energy, You are honest and you are telling the truth.
Thank you for presenting that but in Everything there’s a step and that step is curriculum. Not everyone can practice English with speaking as first step in order to this thank to the grammar books that contains sentences structure matching them with vocabulary. I myself improved my English because of these books & the teachers who presented them . I tried before to learn from movies and listening to English books but it didn’t work until I bought grammar books and enrolled to English online classes. That’s my point according to my experience.
I loved this video! It came just as I failed terribly on a grammar test, and began to feel a sense of emptiness that was ugly. this this video is helping me a lot. thanks christian
I am truly moved by this video! You have convinced me and even though I studied linguistics in the past for a year and that shed a completely different light on language. I really haven't found anyone apart from the very advanced scholars at University who would say these things with such confidence as you do. I needed that reminder. You are the best teacher ❤️ Thank you
Wow, thank you so much for such a powerful message I've been telling similar things to all of my students - that English is not a rocket science where there is always right or wrong, it's a creative act, and even to simplify things - English is just an instrument for you to share your thoughts with others, with the world. And it's way more important to actually make yourself heard than be anxious about whether what you say is correct 100% in grammar, pronunciation etc. Again thanks for the powerful message, I will definitely share this video with others.
I totally agree with you, part by part. It is far better to see the beauty of the language as it is, not to be afraid of making mistakes, and understanding the true differences in culture, as Paulo Freire stated. It is sad that reality works in a unfair way. But there is hope
Yes! I love your point about seeing the beauty in language. Speak boldly, use language to express ourselves, take joy in finding ways to more fully express our thoughts and feelings. 💛
I follow you from Burkina Faso an African country. I love your method. It makes me confident. I no longer care of my mistakes and I realised that this mindset is helpful for my progress
I just need to tell you now! Your video has changed 3 lives right now!!! I love the way you see life through the language, it’s like to feel part of the same humanity at last ❤❤ Thank you
@VITO I'm Russian and I spoke Russian without knowing grammar. Russian grammar I started to learn when I took up English language. Moreover I am afraid learning of English grammar prevents me from fluent English speaking. 😏
It depends on what your student may want from you as a teacher. If they want or need the exam certificate, then that's what they need to be prepared for as a priority, although not exclusively. Exam preparation is as much about strategy and exam technique as it is about everyday English. Some people might say that it would be better not to have such a narrow minded approach to educational qualifications, but for many students that is what they are faced with. If a student doesn't need or want officially recognised certificates of achievement, then there will be more scope for a wider approach to teaching and allow the teacher to focus more on why the student wants to improve their English and how are they going to use it in their lives.
@@redme7828 most English native speakers know very little about grammar, although they use it unconsciously. Many native English speakers also make mistakes in grammar, spelling and pronunciation. As long as we are able to communicate and understand eachother, then that is what is the most important aspect. Probably only lawyers and politicians need to use and understand grammar correctly, that way they can twist meanings and mislead people more effectively...
This is the more pure philosophy. Almost the best mental construction that I ever heard to explain a way to think. Beautiful! I’m from Brazil, and I loved the Paulo Freire citation.
Christian, this video is one of the best you have done!!!! Language is becoming as industrial have done for food, agriculture, health, sports, education. No freedom only one voice to follow!!!
I was just about to write a whole 10 page rant about how you're WRONG WRONG WRONG about there only being 1 right way and 1 wrong way to learn a language. And then... you hit the nail on the head. THANK YOU.
Can not wait for new classes with Cristian , always talking about right things , which others teachers are afraid of , that’s why I adore u in teacher’s face Wish you the productive week and staying healthy , you are really rock-man

Thank you for being you and not following the mainstream. I salute you.
OMG Christian, I can't stop to see your videos. Each one more captiivating that other. I'm really enjoying the way you teach. It touches our heart and make us think that we don't need to be perfect. Thank you very much.
Beautiful message, thank you a lot Christian! Your videos are helping to overcome my mental limits on learning new languages... Learning has to be fun, not to create trauma
The best teacher. Your videos are fantastic. What you said at the end of this video made me almost cry and think about it, Thanks . You say true things other teachers never said.
Everything is so true! I use your videos a lot with my students, and I'm gonna show this one before quitting teaching, because I wanna them to remember the core of leaning English. The system of teaching a foreign language is so wrong and it has demotivated me a lot. So, here I am saying goodbye, but not to your videos! Really eye-opening and encouraging for everyone, even for me who struggles to speak as a native speaker)
I used to appologise about my English before my presentations. Until the day the president of the Company called me to his office and very kindly said, "you should quit appologising. You speak English very well. Everybody understands you and follows your ideias". What he didn't get by that time is that I was mostly affraid of offending cultures (a lot of them were always represented in the Room) by my choice of words. Then again, a colleague once said that I was so nice that It would be difficult for anyone to get offended by my speech. I do keep appologising in advance in order to prevent misunderstandings. But I also do feel much more confident. Language is tricky, I've got to admit!
Thank you very much, Christian, for this inspiring video. When I am feeling that I am not good enough and starting to question my English skills, I come visit your RUclips channel to remind myself that I am enough and that I have all the skills necessary to speak English confidently with other people. Thank you for everything, you are amazing!
I always love your videos and way of seeing things. I apply everything you say into my Spanish learning because you are really talking about learning any language of the world even though your videos are aimed at English learners. Cheers From New Zealand
I should have listened to your speech when I was young. Now I'm older and I fully agree with your ideas. I hope that the young people who listen to you will be able to grasp your important massage before they become old. 😃👋Greetings from Italy

Hahaha...no, my English isn't good ... but ...you know?... I think that my English is good enough! 😁 Thank you, Christian for another great lesson! Very hot greetings from Warsaw, Poland to you and to you all! 🌞🙂
Exactly!! I have to write my story. Always when I was at school, at university I've never spoken in English because always I was thinking that I don't have a lot of words and I have problems with grammar and my accent it's ugly, etc. Later I thought that I really want to live in another country so I've decided to go to Erasmus and study abroad in English(!!!) I didn't think a lot about this, about how I want to study with my English, I wanted to do it and I did and it was the best decision in my life! I've finished my study there, I was talking in English every day with a lot of people, even I had DATE!!! Can you imagine? And what's the funniest? Nobody said to my that my English or accent is bad, even people from UK. Everyone was nice and lovely when I was asking about my language. I've learned that the most important is confidence, not a thousand words or perfect grammar. Now I know that I want to improve my English because I want to communicate clearer but at the same moment, I know that I can communicate with everyone!!! Really I've never thought that I can do it, I wanted to write this, maybe I can help someone who has a fear to speak English- do it, you can even if you don't know a lot of words! Thank you very much, I love this channel!:)
Thank you very much. You gave me a direction to keep walking in my English study. I feel like a new baby. Happy for walking a simple step. I'm 64 years old. Thank you, man!

Gash you must have inspired thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people to just believe in themselves and enjoy the language. I absolutely adore your unconventional ways of teaching English and I like the way you help people to understand that learning a language isn't down to just grades and rules.
Greetings from Brazil! ❤️ CHRISTIAN, YOU ARE AN AMAZING HUMAN BEING! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I'm not even studying English but I love to watch your videos. They teach me more about life than hundreds of books. I'm so happy to see how you relentlessly pursue, defend your beliefs. I'm sure Paulo Freire would love to meet you and would be honoured to sharing your vision. Watching you gives me hope in a better world, a better future for us all. You are the best! Love, from Rio.

Ah.. ultimately I came to the right video... Thank you so much for the information.... and I'm the only one among the people who never get the confidence to speak English...🙏
Thank you for this great video, it's a real eye-opening for me. I keep on loosing self confidence because of my poor English grammar or communication style in meetings or presentation at the detriment of the creative ideas I have to bring. All these years, I was looking at this from the wrong angle. The grammar isn't the problem. What a relief.

(I didn't use grammar or translation to write this simple test to you and your subscribed students, for me it's very important to try this kind of exercise without shame or blame).
hey, I'm brazilian too.
my english is becoming a lot better as I started typing comments on youtube everyday and, the most important, that is kind of improving really well my ability to describe feelings and deal with meanings :)
is great this feeling of freedom, normally nobody complains about my mistakes, so I just go through without fear and wanting only to communicate.
Excellent video as always Christian! “Your English is not good until you believe it is” this is so true not just about English but also about everything. The mentality is everything.
I finished to watch this video with tears in my eyes. Your words touched me so deeply, Christian. I can’t thank you enough
Thank you for setting us free from old standards and expectations... your message is soooo relieving and profoundly true! As an English teacher, I´ve truly started questioning my practice, thanks to you. Forever grateful for that!
The rules don't match the reality, so simple and so true - great video.
By coincidence, when I was writing this comment, you quoted the Brazilian writer Paulo Freire.
Dude, I was missing your videos. I'm from Brazil but I live in California. I learn a lot from you!!! Success!!✌✌👏
It’s not only about English. Maybe it’s not about English at all. Love and support from us to you, Christian! And thank you ❤️.
Power to the people who want to communicate. 😀
"language is not a set of rules, it's a creative act."
well done Sir, great video
A very positive message, not only for English but for life.....'love yourself', I loved it. Salute to you.
It is not an educational video, it is a real sermon. Thank you!
Oh my God, you make me cry 😢
You are exceptional and authentic human being,I just love your speech and your energy,
You are honest and you are telling the truth.
Excellent point about dynamic and stative verbs. This was a much needed video!
Wow. English teacher here for over 12 years. I ADORE what you do. THANK YOU!!!
You are the best teacher ❤️ Thank you
Wow, thank you so much for such a powerful message
I've been telling similar things to all of my students - that English is not a rocket science where there is always right or wrong, it's a creative act, and even to simplify things - English is just an instrument for you to share your thoughts with others, with the world.
Break your shells, get rid of the patterns and move forward,
I just need to tell you now! Your video has changed 3 lives right now!!! I love the way you see life through the language, it’s like to feel part of the same humanity at last ❤❤ Thank you
Great topic discussion: are we preparing our students to exams or preparing to life ?
@VITO I'm Russian and I spoke Russian without knowing grammar. Russian grammar I started to learn when I took up English language. Moreover I am afraid learning of English grammar prevents me from fluent English speaking. 😏
Preparing *for* life ;)
Thanks Christian for giving us knowledge and instigate us to think.
THANK YOU.
Mate, this is the most enlightening video that I've ever saw about English learning!
I've been listening carefully, and you've really made me think deeply about this topic. It's been a while since I've heard something so insightful.
Can not wait for new classes with Cristian , always talking about right things , which others teachers are afraid of , that’s why I adore u in teacher’s face
Wish you the productive week and staying healthy , you are really rock-man
Bravo Sire. No one has ever said it as clear and understandable as you did.
Dear Christian, You have a great soul a wonderful heart . Your words touch all and we are so grateful to have you no matter what the marketplace throws at us. The world moves by wings like you with people who still have the modesty in their mind and glory in their spirits. You shine like a diamond. This is what human means.
Man you are a true philosopher! It’s always a bliss to listen to you.🙏👏
The best teacher. Your videos are fantastic. What you said at the end of this video made me almost cry and think about it, Thanks . You say true things other teachers never said.
Respect you ,from Russia! Well done.
🙏🌹♥️🙏🏻
Sir, there is no bound of my happynes seeing you again once in the class.
I always love your videos and way of seeing things. I apply everything you say into my Spanish learning because you are really talking about learning any language of the world even though your videos are aimed at English learners. Cheers
From New Zealand
I should have listened to your speech when I was young. Now I'm older and I fully agree with your ideas. I hope that the young people who listen to you will be able to grasp your important massage before they become old. 😃👋Greetings from Italy
All your vídeos are amazing, and I always see them not just like a class, but like a life lesson. Thanks a lot!
Thank you, Cristian, a teacher like you has encouraged people like me to study English more and more without concern about anything. Thank you so much.
That's cool! My books will be helpful for learning Russian and English. I published Transliterated russian dictionary with English translation. Compound words dictionary separated by tables. All details on my channel. Red velvet and Vanilla Gelato. Exercises for an interpreter. And also two copies of these books, where Russian words have given in Cyrillic.
One of the best English channel on RUclips!
Remember you always one thing. You are the best Teacher in the world. Thanks so much.
the best English teacher with different way of teaching
Hahaha...no, my English isn't good ... but ...you know?... I think that my English is good enough! 😁
Thank you, Christian for another great lesson!
Very hot greetings from Warsaw, Poland to you and to you all! 🌞🙂
It's a pleasure to hear you Christian. Thank's a lot.
Exactly!! I have to write my story. Always when I was at school, at university I've never spoken in English because always I was thinking that I don't have a lot of words and I have problems with grammar and my accent it's ugly, etc.
Later I thought that I really want to live in another country so I've decided to go to Erasmus and study abroad in English(!!!)
I didn't think a lot about this, about how I want to study with my English, I wanted to do it and I did and it was the best decision in my life!
I did not predict that ur speeches would teach me a life lesson… appreciate your u ❤
Man, you have been perfect at this. First time I see such a serious performance. Thank you very much! Continue please, you do it the best way!
Your eyes welled up with tears at the end of the video, and so did I, love you Christian💕🌹🌹🌹
a gem, thanks Christian, from a 60 years old south american guy trying to achieve english goals without an academic ladder.
Always great Christian not only by what i learn with you, but also with what you bring us as motivation, self-confidence, good mindset, and above all all basic words you use to explain your thouth.
The best teacher i ever had
Hello, i wanna to say thanks o lot by this video, i'm from Brazil, i'm a beginner and everybody know how dificult is to learn a new language and your videos help us.
I love the way, you teach English.
Thank U ,blessings from Argentina 🇦🇷, my dear coach
Just want to say that your video has given me many different POVs, and it helped me, so much. Thank you for making this meaningful video!
Yeah thank you to encourage me, and give me hope I'm too hard on myself because people correct me all the time and try to fix my pronunciation and some grammar mistake, but I can't just say the words sound like a native. I'm grateful for people like you, bless you!
Christian you're a great teacher and a gifted psychologist I'd say. You're so right in this video.
The best teacher ever. Quote Paulo Freire. How amazing
Thanks a million! You’ve just voiced over my thoughts. I have goosebumps with some of your videos
Glad to have you back Christian.
Christian you are the most understandable teache when U are talking quietly calm or sober
thanks for sharing with Us to make our speaking to be prefect well
Y not inly our work isnt English but extremely therapeutic. And THAT is much more beneficial for me.
A thousand of thanks is not enough for show my gratitude to your work.
Ah.. ultimately I came to the right video...
Hi Christian. I fully agree with you. It's really refreshing to know your point of view. Thank you so much. Greetings from Gdańsk, Poland
wow thank you for this motivation it was awesome
Simple amazing, you are the best professor. I'm happy to see you talk about Paulo Freire, I'm Brazilian and he is the patron of education in Brazil.
