Thanks so much for your video, I just fitted a side entry valve and being a layman I couldn't stop the leak.. Just watching ur video and seeing how u tightened everything up (me not trying to tighten more than 1/4 turn...) did just the trick... Thanks.
paid a 'plumber' big bux to fix my toilet and kept the same ole piece of perished plastic back in and it broke...I'm buying one of these, and putting it myself!...thanks for the vid buddy! x
Hi there i have fitted a side entry fill valve, there doesnt seem to be sealing washer on the inlet union pipe, is there supposed to be a fibre or rubber washer, it weeps a bit i have put a load of ptfe tape round ot, also when it fills up there is a horrible groaning noise for about 15 seconds...i see on you video there should be something, i suppose it is likely to leak without one...any advice Please Fred in Essex.
Great video nice cat, sorry about your man flu. Just wondered what the rubber washer is called in/on the copper pipe? What am I looking for at Screwfix?
something I have been looking for for a long time is a way to adapt a cistern filler like that to supply a basin tap, the basin waste then goes into the cistern. not looking for an all in one as they are generally either ugly or the wrong style. Got any hints?
I spent 144 quid to have a Plummer to fit the Dudley valve on a concealed cistern like this. 75 quid per half hour and Vat and part.London rate. Now I know what to do.
Hey PP. I'm shocked and amazed that you decided to use my 'never mind the ballcocks' idea. Top man!!! It's the one and only good idea that I've ever had LOL. And Happy New Year to you and the tabby dude. Also, lovin' the George appearences.
Hello, are all valves Interchangeable in all toilets that looking like yours in this video? Have you Please the link to the valve in the Video for me? My Girlfriends cat looks exactly like yours :-) Regards Thomas
I bought one of this side entry valves (made by Dudley) instead of the plastic one I'm replacing. I’ve a few questions on this….does anyone know the size of the rubber washer that goes into the into the nut (2.45) as it leaks when I do up the nut? What I also found is that if you place the back nut on first (as in 3.15) …it doesn’t go right to the end (as the thread stops about an 1/4 inch from the grey cyclinder), therefore making the shank about 1/2 inch too short to connect up to the water pump. Is putting the back back nut (not the 2nd back nut to secure the valve to the cistern casing) necessary or should I buy a washer that sits against the grey housing? Thanks for posting this vid.
Today I dismantled my side entry toilet valve which has a number of rubber washers. I wonder why you replaced the entire toilet valve rather than just the washers? I am going to replace mine because the damned thing leaks even when the water has reached it's right height. My existing side valve has a plastic thread so thanks for the tip of going for a brass one.
My problem is that my side entry valve doesn't come through the side of the cistern as shown on the video. It is attached somehow to the back wall of the cistern, glued perhaps. It's also not easy to see how to turn the water off. There is a metal device very close to the valve with a square head and screwdriver slot, but this is seized. The only solution would be to turn the mains water off under the kitchen sink. I think I'll just have to call a plumber out.
Yeah, exactly... mine's fed from a header tank and has no isolator. Gotta shut off the mains supply and drain the entire tank first. Fortunately the filler valve isn't broken yet, but someday it will happen...

How funny, before watching this video I watched a much younger you changing a side fill valve on exactly the to same toilet!
Happy is the man that fixed a leak by using brass and rubber ! Thanks.
Hi there, great video.
Mine seems very slow filling up. Anyway of adjusting it to flow faster?

Had a horror job today involving a flexi hose not threading on to a cheap nylon threaded inlet valve. The brass one makes a lot more sense. Thanks

Thank you for this and to George for his essential supervision.
couldn;t you please provide link to the fill valve you used in your video so we can buy one too?
Hello 👋 thanks for the great video…does anyone know the size of rubber washer I should get to put on the copper thread and squash by the copper nut?
Nice design, works well and very easy to set up.
Thanks PP exactly what I needed, including the chirpy commentary 😄 you are fab 👌🏻
Thanks for the video, very informative. can I ask - how would you shorten the brass stem on a new valve if it's too long (without it leaking)?
How do you take off the back off toilet if you have a black panel like the one in the video...mine doesn't have wing nuts
love the vids bud! quick question,i have a close coupled loo and the water pressure seems really weak when if gets flushed. how do i turn it up ?
Great video nice cat, sorry about your man flu.
Just wondered what the rubber washer is called in/on the copper pipe? What am I looking for at Screwfix?
Nice video, it is what I needed.
Is it the same principle for a side entry ball valve? Am I correct in thinking I need a low pressure one as well?

You said this little kit has 2 nuts, it appears that there are 3 😉 thanks for a simple to follow video & entertainment 😊
Hi,could you do a video about how to fix noisy pipes when toilet flushed and filling up the water tank please?any advices please? THANKS

If you get time id love a video on water softeners......HOLD TIGHT!
I think we've done one....check our channel! Good luck, PP!!!
Hello PP. And George lol. Great vid.
Cheers!
It's not clear to see but I thought those sheaths where banned due to back siphonage? Or is there an air gap at the top of it?
Yes mate.
feels good
Where do you buy your pretty red bras from?
Stuart Johnson Asda....

Love the vids and Mrs PP's red bra... Nice :)
Ha! That's my bra!
*****
Really??? What size bra do you wear?
Nylon shanked fill-valves.... dreadful. I've been slipping a nice tap extender on to the little buggers, saves me cross-threading the bloody thing!
We've all been there!
Isolating valve!?
Yeah, exactly... mine's fed from a header tank and has no isolator. Gotta shut off the mains supply and drain the entire tank first. Fortunately the filler valve isn't broken yet, but someday it will happen...
igotes Ha! Unlucky bro! When you've got it drained down and cut one in....good luck! PP! :)
Was brushing your head off the bra @ 1:50 deliberate? 😅😅😅
that red bra
