    I love the “simpler” videos you keep knocking out. It doesn’t matter how “big” your channel gets, you’re not afraid to do the basic tasks.
    I trained as a plumber for two years and due to age ended up having to go alone. I couldn’t afford to be an apprentice wage. Long story short I gave up because I made some mistakes over time that just knocked my confidence. I’m now a desk warrior 😕 I love these videos because although I’m not doing it anymore, I still get to learn from the professionals. Keep it up James!

    Love the fluid master procp packs keep a couple in the van. They come with a dual flush syphon cable operated, a brass shank bottom inlet valve and all the bits to fit most cisterns. Can get them from city. They also stock the parts separately to replenish parts if you dont use the full pack.

    Great video as usual - I noticed you used a push fit on the flexy - how good are they (I tend to use a compression joint) and is there anything I should do to ensure they don't leak when refitting. See you of Thursday on Ale Army, for the usual beer rants, banter and laughs as usual. Hold Tight!!

    Hi James. Another tip for checking if you've got a leak into the toilet bowl is to get a piece of toilet tissue and hold it against the back of the bowl (as long as toilet hasn't been used for a while). If get immediately wet, then you've found the leak. Gaz

    Hi there and really enjoyed this video, very informative and easy to understand, I would like to ask something about toilets, basically in my flat there is a bathroom and to the right is a separate toilet, I would like to know if it is a good idea to install a secondary toilet in the bathroom (with obvious modifications to the where the basin is now) being also ground floor flat please..........technically I suppose that would be OK,however in reality there would be 2 toilets next to one another about 60 cm and separated by a wall.......would that work? thanks and I would appreciate if someone could give me a guidance..........🙂

    • @chrispowell1866
      @chrispowell1866 3 года назад +1

      The old black and red ones are being phased out as wras discovered they are not to water regs. You can get away with it with a double check valve but that's adding further costs. These air gap ones are just as easy to install but don't have the same height adjustment. If you have a short wide cistern, they will not fit.

    Look like good valves. I find fluidmaster valves to be very good. However not so good for retrofitting to toilet cisterns with a conventional siphon as often a bit bulky to fit between the side of the tank and siphon. One needs a much slimmer valve for those. It also often pays to change the doughnut washer if having to remove cistern to change valve

      I'm not a plumber by trade but check the tap glands and if you have a header tank in the loft, check the float valve.
      They are both relatively simple tasks providing you know where to isolate your hot and cold water feeds. The header tank should have an isolation point on the rising cold water main.

    Funny when you talk about leaking toilets, my neighbour both of her main loo and downstairs loo overflows are constantly trickling. Infact the front one, she decided to put rocks there to make it look like a waterfall?!
    This has been constant over the last 13 months.
    According to the wastage you quote for a days worth of a toilet doing this, then she's paid for nearly 150,000 litres of water and still hasn't fixed it.
    Tbh I'm more worried it's going to sink the foundations of her house, which mines attached to 🙄😭😂
