Everybody's talking about the Volkswagen ID.4, the company's second mass-produced EV to launch under its ID banner and its first all-electric SUV. But we actually saw the Tesla Model Y rival earlier in the year, as it launched as the Skoda Enyaq.
That's right, the new Skoda Enyaq is pretty much exactly the same as the ID.4, only with more conventional looks and a slightly smaller batter range. And with prices starting at just over £33,000, it should be cheaper than the ID.4 as well.
With this in mind, we've put together a list of 5 things you need to know about the Enyaq, and why in some areas it's better than the ID.4...

Well, I have bad news for you... I absolutely love the design of the Skoda's, was considering trading my Citroen C4 for a Octavia Break but got into a Über and it happened what happens every time I get into a Skoda: I hated the interior. Lots of space, practical car, well built but horrible interior in the back seats or all around in the Fábia.
And no, it is not because "it is a low cost alternative" because o really like my friends Dacias Sandero whiche are much more cheaper than the Octavia and not built as well but somehow I like it more in one (notice that they aren't even In the same class of cars, with the Sandero being more of a competitor to the Fábia but I like the back seats more than In the Octavia...)
Same thing with the Fiat Tipo and other low cost cars, I find it better appointed in the back seats than the Skoda's and sometimes even at the front.
It is a shame, I really liked the Octavia, the ride is good and the front seats and dashboard are nice but at the back...........no, definitely NO!
Oh, let me edit to add this: about 3 years ago I needed a second car, something cheap and spacious, I came across an old Skoda Felicia station wagon which I didn't bought because it was petrol, not diesel, it had lots of km on it and was dirty cheap but inside it felt nice. I actually liked it better than the Octavia
Skoda’s “Game” changed long before this model. They’re sweeping up the reliability and sales charts and will pass out the so called “premium brands” very soon, and that’s goes for brands in their own family also!
I’ve driven Audi’s for twenty years or more but wanted something different, an SUV that could be a work horse and a comfy leisure and long distance vehicle.
I bought a Skoda Kodiaq Style and wow, it’s a stunning machine, the level of trim, the size, stature etc. It’s a Q5/Q7 sized SUV’s with a price tag of an A4. Then they’re all VAG machines sharing platforms, transmissions etc but for some reason they can do it better and for a lot less. While the Q’s are more refined the price cannot be justified.
Skoda was founded in 1859 but most people only know about their recent foray into car manufacture. Yes there was rust, rot, bad electrics, and yes they were hard to start in damp weather, but nearly every British car of the same era rotted In a few years. Early Japanese cars had their wings rot from the inside out in 12m.
Fords were ok ish but still suffered from tin worm and poor engine design. The japs did sort the engine department and that went for motorcycles also. Eventually the steel quality, treatment and overall quality control improved and we are where we are now.
Skoda was and is a Heavy Engineering Company manufacturing world class workshop machines, lathes, steam turbines, buses, trains, yes modern high speed new in 2021 trains, light rail and intercity.
Their factories were taken over by the Germans in WW2 and they made weapons, tanks, the lot because they could. The company is between 50 and 70 years older than Ford, GM, all the Japanese manufacturers, about 50 to 60 older than all the German premium brands.
This is SOOOO much better looking than ID4. Wonder how many people - other than Skoda fans - would be able to identify the brand if it was badge less. . . nice!
Fantastic looking car, practical too. This will be an absolute game-changer for Skoda and for the electric car market
It's got physical buttons and dials instead of haptics, so that's a big Yes from me.
Just ordered an Peugeot e2008 on a work scheme & one of the big reasons is it looks EXACTLY like its combustion engined siblings. Once I renew my lease I'd definitely go for this.
We have signed the contract and get our black magic Enyaq 80 in march next year. When I saw the car from 3:20 into this video it sent shivers down my spine. It is truly the sexiest car I've ener seen and soon I will be driving it. I cannot thank Skoda enough for making this magnificent vehicle.
The car is amazing. The long distance charging options for cars that aren't Tesla, not so much.

@@danielbrodard I live in Norway, and paid for the pre-order the very first day possible in juni 2019. I I an around number 2000 in norway to get mine, and the saleswoman at Møller Bil where I live has told me it will arrive around March.
@@uramalakia With the range of the IV80, we will be tired of driving long before the battery runs out.
Personally I like the look of the Skoda compared to the ID4, especially the interior. Its a sad that Skoda is not sold in South Africa.

This car is a belter. I’m not super blown away by the outside but the inner looks superb. Telly looks like it has it all as a great super practical all-purpose/family car.

The central console between the front seats is non-existing in VW ID.4, but looks almost premium in Skoda Enyak.

I like this car a lot. Local dealer tells me they are not yet taking orders, though :( He said to come back in 4 - 6 weeks' time (late November/early December 2020).
This just went to the top of my wish list!!! (Was the E-Nero) This Skoda is a stunning car!!.
I think in this review spec it's simply one of the best looking and featured cars currently available, regardless of manufacturer. I'd have it over an Audi, Merc or Jag any day. Just hope they keep the colour combo's - quite like that black and gold/orange!

Nah it doesn’t. It’s not really pushing the envelope. Its nice for a Skoda but the ID4 is a cleaner modern more design and it will age better. All personal taste though.
It’s more interesting looking and dare I say it more premium looking than the ID4, a vRS sounds like it might be interesting
I would have the Skoda over the ID4. Yet to see the SEAT or Cupra versions. The Seat would be most likely for myself.
It is really awesome, I hope this one will pull the electric car over the edge for the normal and critical user.
Not an SUV lover, but this one looks BEAUTIFUL!
We have a Skoda Yeti atm and have been mostly very happy with it and were interested in this review as we like Skoda. BUT the Tesla Model 3 Long range AWD is only £8k more and is in a different league. 360 mile range, 0-60 in 3.1 secs plus all the cool Tesla stuff.

Great looking and very practical car, fantastic range as well, high price though? And surprise surprise, it’s following Audi’s new car sales where you get given the price, but then your offered loads of add-on specs after you’ve chosen it! To add a few grand on top? You end up pricing yourself out of contention?? “Come on Voltswagen! Look at Kia, and now even a Chinese MG, they don’t make you buy lane keep assist, or adaptive cruise control, or comfort modes! It’s all in the price!?
The car is expensive without these add ons!? I just think at these prices it should include everything? When you think it costs the company a quarter of the price to build it in the first place! No wonder they can afford to tool up for it so well!! 🚗🚗😊

I personally think it looks better than the VW. And if i am not wrong the battery efficiency is better too. It sad that a lot of people think of skoda as a boring car of 90s. I can say they have raised their "game" a lot in the last 5-6 years.
Enyaq is looking so much better than the ID.4, both exterior -and particularly the interior. The dashboard and centre consol in the ID.3 and ID.4 are a complete mess...
I like the dashboard of the IDs. It s more about taste i guess...
The only thing I needed to know is that the ID4 will be available in Canada and the Skoda will not.

Skoda looks much better than the VW version... Could VW please fire their designers and HIRE all of the Skoda designers. I wish VW would import it to the US.

My worry with Skoda: if VW has so many bugs with ID.3, how will this car be... Also, VW currently offers free service assistance for first movers - curious how a "badge" la Skoda will handle customer issues with the car. The "badge" is not really only the "badge", there is different kind of testing of these cars and different kind of service when issues pop up.
VW takes The worst faults om the first mover models in this case the id.3. then Skoda comes with there model. (Enyaq) with less errors. In my opinion Skoda much Better Bang for the Buck. And here ind Denmark Skoda keep the used Prices Better the VW.
FYI, IONIQ 5 vs TESLA MODEL Y... :
Tesla great job, max speed, range especially leveraging its shape and weight. Still prefer, being in Europe, comfort. 99% of my trips are within 200kms one way. With the Hyundai IONIQ 5, I do look forward to ventilated seats, Android Auto, the roomy and comfortable interior, and HUD. Also like reclining seats with foot rest and reclining console for arms rest, all electronic aids especially against collisions, automated parking (Executive version), blind spot cams on dashboard when turning, V2L, sun shades integrated in back doors, electric sunroof shade, wide space available inside with good visibility through the back window etc.
And the obviously efficient 400V to 800V internal battery inverter for fast charging. Also 5 year car warranty illimited kms (Max 80 000 for Tesla... Reliability issues?), and 8 year battery warranty (same as Tesla).

Ionic 5 LR and Model Y LR both have similar spec including weight, battery sizes. Details can be found on google. Here are some highlights from the conclusion they brought up at the end of the video. 1. Both car's AVG speed were about 100KM/h (Highway drive) 2. Both car's A/C and other convenience functions(like Highway drive assistance for Ionic 5, Auto Pilot for Model Y and etc.) were always on during the test. 3. 4 drivers drove about 100km per person and checked the remaining battery at designated location. 4. Both car have shown slightly poor battery performance than usual because of the weather condition (rain) 5. By just looking at the specification, Model Y can drive 141km more than Ionic 5. However the actual drive test have shown that the difference were only about 60~70km. This experiment have shown that IONIC 5's driving range is little longer than what Hyundai advertised. 6. They have concluded that both Ionic 5 and Model Y can drive from Seoul to Busan. The distance between those two cities are about 350km. Hope this helps.

Just ol' fashioned English measurements. Miles for range. MPH for speed. Inches for wheels. Litres for boot space. Millimetres for length and bananas for everything else - Cam
Nice car but you have to do a lot of miles to make up the price difference between this and a car with a ICE. EV prices are still way too high.

Noone knows because it is 1 year delayed to what they had promised. Also the coupe that they presented everywhere : 2 years delayed. Not holding my breath with early adoption EVs either. For more details look at Polestar 2.
VW tactics to prevent stealing their customers.
I think you are missing a point. You can't say Enyaq is re-bodied ID4 when all VW electric cars will be based on same MEB chassis. Or otherwise all current and future MEB cars will be re-bodied versions of each other. The driving part is the same for all, most technic is the same VW technic and design is the only difference in all of them. Prices will be with of without "Sovereign" duties, time will tell soon.
Why rear wheeled drive on an SUV? 1st sign of slippy conditions and like all BMW's it will have to be parked up until the weather improves.
Let me guess an "ex" BMW engineer is somewhere in an important position in the VW group??
Some interesting information, but you fail to point out the huge cost of "extras" to bring the spec up to the level of most other electric cars and add to this the pathetic warranty period. Do Skoda have so little confidence in the build quality of their vehicles. Perhaps you would have noticed these "features" if you paid more attention to information and less to adding silly, unnecessary noise to the report.
Real world fugures are probanly 30 % lesser rhan claimed if not more .

1:45 I hate hate HATE this tablet-glued-on-the-dash look. I hate it in Teslas, and I hate it here. Why do EV manufacturers think this is either a thing the driving public wants or is in anyway appealing? Geezus that is just freakin hideous.
I prefer when electric cars don't look like electric cars! The minimalist 'no grill' look of so many electric cars just looks ugly to me. Having a proper sized grill - even if it's not needed - just looks so much better, I think. Not digging the ugly brown interior though.

the prices for the id.4 1st have been out for a while and yes the id.4 is cheaper than skoda enyaq. also as vw is moving all new deliveries to next year, you probably have all the same "sofware bug" and more on skoda as you now have on id.3

Front looks like a 2-series touring while the rear looks like an old Seat with sharper lines.
ID.4 packed in a BMW grill and the back of an Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Ah yeas....with the cheapest material for the interior as always. Good job Skoda.
