    30 minute headways on the weekend is INSANE for a heavy rail system. Especially in a tourist city like Miami that might have more people going downtown on the weekend.

    • @shechshire
      @shechshire 7 месяцев назад

      Our metro is a joke. We have one line with way too many stations. That''s why it takes so long. Down south makes sense with the mall, UM, The hospitals, some residential, then downtown but after that it's the hood... A little more hood... Then middle of no where industrialized medley.

    Miami should extend the Orange & Green Line south to Southland Mall, replace the people mover with an Orange Line extension to Miami International, build an East-West Line from Downtown to FIU along SW 8th Street, and build 2 Green Line branches: One follows 195 East to Miami Beach, the other follows NW 27th Ave to Miami-Dade College and Hard Rock Stadium…just my thoughts

      An update on that: so far, the only Metrorail extension confirmed is the one to Hard Rock Stadium. Besides that, the other routes you mentioned are, in one way or another, part of the Miami-Dade Smart Program, which all include plans for future rapid transit corridors.

      @@gametendough3380 Looks like Miami-Dade County Transportation Planning Organization saw my comment lol. In all seriousness, I’m glad that they’re doing this. It always seemed weird to me that Miami has a modern looking metro service, but it doesn’t reach the rest of Miami and surrounding areas. Really good for them!!

      @@ilevyzeke They've been saying that for years. We don't have the tax money for that. Homestead has been crying for a line for years so office workers don't have to drive to down town. The issue is when they gave all the stations to the inner city where they have two stations not even a mile between each other in the 80's. Then Hialeah, then the airport, then middle of no where industrialized medley.

      Hello and thank you. During the weekend or holidays, Orange Line runs between MIA Airport and Earlington Heights Station (departs every 15 minutes). At Earlington Heights station, wait for the Green Line southbound to Downtown Miami (usually arrives 30 minutes). Once the Green Line southbound arrives, exit to Historic/Overtown station and walk towards to Brightline Station (here is a walk video from Historic Overtown station to Brightline: ruclips.net/video/m_MHo3WLGU0/видео.htmlsi=F5gHMdkPQcQ3XrgG)

    • @HOUExplorer
      @HOUExplorer  2 года назад +3

      I 100% agree. Miami-Dade Transit needs to expand their rail system all over Miami...especially to the beach! Metrobus is always crowded Miami between Miami Beach (due to tourist and jobs). Expanding the rail line to the beach would be one of the highest usage in North America.

We have been trying for decades now to get MetroRail to Miami Beach and it was promised back in 2002 when we passed a half cent sales tax for Transit but the NIMBYs have stood in the way. Yes, tap your credit card at the fare gate. I believe the one way fare to Downtown Miami is $2.25 (ride is around 15-20 minutes). If taking Uber...the estimate cost is around $25-$45.

    Every time I visit Miami I'm surprised by how many locals dont like the metro. Airport workers should be one of the main users but they rather fight traffic on 95, 826, 836 or the turnpike than sit on a train. Other airports like O'Hare, JFK and Reagan have basically all their employees ride the trains in Miami the employee parking lots are huge and ever expanding

      He's riding the orange line. It's just the airport where there aren't too many people. Rich tourist usually don't take public transit. It's also the weekend so all those inner city stations usually don't have many people unless it's the weekday. It gets packed with workers on those days on any station, really. The other reason why might also be that we really only have one line & most of the county has no train station so it takes too long to get there by buss & then if get there by car you got pay the parking fee plus how long trips take on this thing defeating the purpose.

    Our metro rail system started on the right foot in the late 70's but in the mid 80's turned into a politically driven project that would later also become a way to scam citizens out of their money through the half cent initiative that ended up being used for office new office positions & employee raises rather than new lines.
