    Wanted to switch things up a bit and do a video about these two units as I haven’t seen a video on RUclips comparing PVS-15’s directly to DTNVG’s. At the end of the day, choosing one or the other depends on what features you like the most for your application. With that said, encourage you guys to check out Sam Houston’s channel called Silent Solutions here on RUclips if you’re wanting to learn the complete ins-and-outs night vision and technical information. Some other great channels I recommend would definitely be Kinetic Consulting, Nitewalker, and J.W. Ramp. Tons of awesome vids and really good dudes.

      Great video 👍👍 I’ve always heard good things about -15 glass but never had the chance to look through one yet.

      NITEWALKER Thanks homie. I really like the 15’s DEP glass. It’s awesome, which is why the L3 white phosphor tubes in the DTNVG’s are being transplanted into the PVS-15’s. If you ever get a chance to mess with 15’s with DEP glass and quality of tubes, do it. I would say it’s even better than ANVIS, imo.

    You can make a slipknot out of shock cord and slip it around the dovetail of the DTNVGs to tie them down.

    Amazing video as always g! I especially appreciate the comparison of the difference in weight, especially as any amount of weight-savings drastically matters when donning the device on a helmet setup; since, most dudes just fire static on a flat range. The practicality of having something weigh less avoids you spending $200-300 vworth of helmet upgrades like the suspension and padding, to keep the device from shifting during high intensity or excessive movement (even like shoulder transition or rifle-to-pistol). Badass vid

      @WheelchairOperator  4 года назад

      MythicUSA Thank you for the kind words, man. I can’t really talk about weight savings too much, my Airframe has a handful of stuff on it currently, but that’s also why I use the 4D Tactical Deluxe Pads and Team Wendy CamFit and understand that there are people out there who are very conscious about helmet/nods weight. Speaking of, I’m really hoping to secure an AOR2 LBH soon, though. Keep your eyes peeled for me. Specifically size XL.

    For the pvs15s, is there anyway to mess with it to make it articulate more or have a lower profile? I dismount from vehicles all the time and worry about them catching on the door frame or a wire all the time.

    • @WheelchairOperator
      @WheelchairOperator  Год назад +1

      So, that is definitely one of the drawbacks to the PVS-15; their short range of articulation. I have liked to call them “partially articulating” because of it. It’s definitely enough to keep them flipped down and swiveled away from your eyes, but doesn’t do all that much when in the stowed position. Still a great goggle, and one of my all time favorites, though.

    I think a fairer comparison would be the 31a’s to the dtnvg’s instead of the pvs15’s

    • @WheelchairOperator
      @WheelchairOperator  Год назад

      You’re not wrong. This vid was made a few years back when 31A’s were restricted and a lot sketchier of a process to get ahold of. Might do a video comparing 1531’s to 31A’s, though.

      The Savage It’s impossible to know which I go exactly unless you have the info on the tube. Easiest way to do it is unscrew the rear eyepiece and get the SN and NSN number off the tubes, screw said eyepieces back on and your goggles will be good to go.

    DTNVS vs PVS31A vs Eotech BNVD (all white phosphor) which do I pick?

    • @WheelchairOperator
      @WheelchairOperator  3 года назад

      Definitely PVS-31A. They’ve got some really, really solid “minimum specs” that they have to achieve factory from L3, they have adjustable/manual gain for different lighting environments, interpupillary distance stops, battery pack, super lightweight, dive rated, etc., etc. Now that you can purchase them with a warranty up to 10 years, they’d definitely be my first pick.

      Jim brown That’s like trying to make me pick my favorite between two kids! Haha. I love them both. If you would’ve asked me a year ago, I might have said DTNVG, now, I might say PVS-15C even though 15’s are now considered a “dated” platform.

      Wheelchair Operator well looking at stores inventory my selections are limited. I was thinking a mono and then using a bridge down the road to have the set up

    • @WheelchairOperator
      @WheelchairOperator  4 года назад

      Gucci Tacticool Not a bad idea. That’s what I did. I started off with a 14, got another 14 + bridge, later had the optics and tubes put into an RNVG housing, then upgraded to articulating binos. At least getting a 14 will get your foot in the door.

  • @e30ordie
    @e30ordie 4 года назад +2

    There are DEP Ether objectives for pvs15/18 as well. The 15 lenses are truly the best tho. And FWIW my ab mod3 binos feel significantly heavier in mine and others hands... than my pvs15. I dont have a scale, but specs say the mod3 weights less, however I feel like its at least a couple oz's heavier than my 15s. (Hmmm) It's not the upgraded beta bridge either, which is even heavier... however I can wear my xl ops core carbon no strap no weight no oc dial just lux liner with pvs15 walking around no troubles. Can not do this with mod3 binos standing still. They drop on the face (pull back of helmet up) almost immediately.

    • @WheelchairOperator
      @WheelchairOperator  4 года назад

      e30ordie Yep. PVS-18 uses the same glass as PVS-15. They’re pretty rad. If I were running a single monocular, that would likely be my first choice. If you ever get around to weighing your Mod3’s, let me know. Do they still make the non-bravos anymore?

    • @e30ordie
      @e30ordie 4 года назад

      @@WheelchairOperator No I highly doubt it. I've had my mod3s for about 5 years now. But between my anvis glass, pvs14, and lastly acquiredly 15s the 15/18 definitely have the best glass with all closely rated tubes. I see the best up close with them, and also at infinity. Even when adjusted to infinity, things that are half way near to you, look considerably more in focus than the pvs14 glass... 😎 Set both to star gaze and then look at a building idk maybe roughly 20ft~ away.. and I think that you'll find that the pvs15 are gonna look more in focus than the pvs14 lens on the dtnvgs.. actual distance could be a little off, I didn't take note, but definitely something I noticed immediately out on the farm😎
