@11:11, the adjustment that you are referring to, is does that involve simply turning the objective lens ring, or is it the more complicated step mentioned earlier in the video w/ a 0.7mm hex key? I'm asking because my vision is 2.75, both eyes, and I'm not sure if it's positive or negative.
On my PVS the screw is missing and i guess the ring is turned all the way in tightly, since i can adjust the focus past infinity. Can I turn the stop ring counterclockwise to adjust it without worrying to unscrew the entire lens unit?
The objective ring set screw on my PVS14 is loose, allowing the ring to rotate some. I didn’t notice it until I mounted a COTI on my 14. That set screw is super small and takes a very small hex key. I believe he said 0.7 mil key in the video. You can purchase another set screw from TNVC if you haven’t fixed yours yet.
The rear storage cap comes standard on all devices bought from us, if you would like one, send us an email at sales@coldharboursupply.com and we can invoice you.
If i tap my pvs14 l3 harris with my fingers a little hard the brightness goes to max gain and back again to my original brightness. What can cause this?
Do you have a link to the sacrificial lense for the diopter side? I already have one for the objective lense but you had mentioned you guys sell one that doesn't mess with your fov.
Great tutorial. How would you remove the FOV lenses out of the PVS 14 the objective and ocular and what tools would I need to do so? I'm trying to see if I can replace the 40-degree FOV to 51 degree. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
eh, crap is a bit of an exaggeration from what I've researched so far. worse for an otherwise equivalent intensifier tube yes, but it's not just a blanket they're crap. if you put a really nice tube in and buy a nice lense set you will have far better clarity than a regular 40deg fov device with a low grade tube in it. I've been researching the question extensively lately since I'm currently trying to decide between a pvs14 vs an mnvd51. tnvc has an interesting white paper on the topic.
Very informative. I am looking for head gear now. What attachment should I be looking for that accommodates the J mount? When not in use I just turn the battery around is that acceptable?
The included skullcrusher in the bag works with the bayonet J-arm. Check out our other video discussing the various mounting options. While there is internal reverse polarity protection, reversing the battery for storage is not recommended.
@@coldharboursupply Thanks I will check it out and thanks for the tip on the battery. I don't like the skull crusher it came with so I want to find something else other than a helmet.
i just got my first pvs14 today. I can with 100% certainty saying buying a skullcrusher for USGI style bayonet jarms is a waste of money. Mine has an insane amount of slop. Save for dovetail interface.
Also do not use any loctight period. Because the threads are only a helicoil in a plastic housing and you will end up pulling out the threads ask me how I know.
Its almost impossible to have these setups here in NZ Aotearoa, there are ways around that still require international license for each part. All I want to do is add it to my telescope to see nebula's in real time. lol
Are the PVS 14 units that you supply under ITAR? I live in New Zealand so there's a lot of issues when coming to wanting to buy night vision and it being blocked from exportation due to ITAR.
Great info! Having fun with my PVS that I just received. One little thing, the background music is distracting and slightly annoying due to the short loop. maybe ditch it?
The BGM is frustrating and it’s harder to focus on the dialogue but I did see ya plan to eliminate that. Maybe do one like this again for the hard of hearing like me
I recently purchased a pretty hard used pvs14 at abprice i simply couldn't pass up and recently noticed that the little ring with the white dot on the diopter side seems to just move when changing the diopter setting, it's basically just freely spinning... any chance you can explain if that is a big deal or matters enough to worry about replacing? I'm new to the NV game and would like to replace any parts that need it, but also don't have unlimited funds to do so, so I'm just trying to figure out what is considered problems that NEED to be resolved... also, how would i go about testing whether or not it is purged correctly? Ive been loving watching all of your videos and glad I found your channel! Thank you for all the information!

Thanks! I watched before setting my pvs14 up!
Thanks it really helped me out!
Nice breakdown and explanation of everything. Subbed 👍

Our lens protectors work for both front and back sides: coldharboursupply.com/products/defender-nv-optics-protector
The eye cup is best for when you are using it weapon mounted
Where is it made?
what material is that headgear made out of? alluminium? or plastics?
Any information on the push in battery pvs 14’s?
I want one of these so bad I have two itt pvs7 units that work amazing

Apparently the 51 degree optics are crap in terms of distortion, flare, eye relief, etc.
